The Cat’s out of the Bag

Mac OS X Leopard now available

The latest version of Mac OS X, Leopard, has been unleashed last Oct. 26 and is now available in the Philippines for a very enticing price of P 7690. We got a first hand taste of how impressive this piece of software is and after spending a few minutes in complete awe of its new features, we were left in pure utter lust for it.

With over 300 new features, Leopard, by far is the best OS to come out for the Mac. Some of the new capabilities include the Cover Flow preview for all documents in Finder and Quick Look which gives you a full preview of the document without launching the main application associated with the document. iChat is further enhanced with the iChat Theater which allows you to share document previews and movies with your chatmate; and Screen Sharing that gives you the capability to take control of your chatmate’s desktop.

Go back in time with Time MachineTime Machine is breath-taking. The new automatic back-up system of Leopard provides a very intuitive and visual interface that allows users to easily restore deleted/moved documents to its original location via a timeline guide for easy navigation. This is far better than Microsoft’s System Restore feature.

I can go on and on with Leopards amazing set of features, but words can only do so much. I suggest you head on to your nearest Mac dealer to get a first hand experience on this latest OS, and be amazed for yourself.

By the way, those who purchased a Mac with OS X Tiger not earlier than October 1, 2007 can get a Leopard upgrade for only P 527. Take that Vista!

I can’t install it on my 12″ iBook G4 1.33. I think it’s got something to do with the optical drive not being able to access the 2nd layer of data. So disappointed, read that lots of others too are having the same trouble. Hope they address this or else, I’ll be forced to get a new MacBook hehehehe or perhaps wait until Apple releases another 12″ book

While it does say its compatible with G4 running Macs as far back as 867 MHz, I think it’s best to use Leopard with Intel running Macs as many would agree that running it on a G4 processor will slow it down as compared to Tiger.

But on the issue of not being able to install it, that’s something they should address since they claim that it should work. By the way, what time of installation are you trying to run: a clean install or an upgrade?
