Free Music with Nokia phones
Looks like Nokia’s pretty serious about going into the music biz as they have recently announced that they will be giving away free music to go along with their multimedia handsets. Initially, this service was thought to be one and the same as the one being offered by Universal Music which gives users one year free subscription, but official word from the Finnish company denied such rumors.
Based on what Universal is offering, an individual gets a year of free music downloads, but is DRM protected which limits the usage to the particular Nokia device. It also states that if a user does not cancel the subscription after one year, he/she will be charged from then on. Nokia refutes early linkage between their free music and Universal, but they, however, do not give further details as to what they free music service is all about. Well, I guess will just have to wait and see come mid 2008 when it’s set to go full steam ahead.
