And now, the end is near and so I face the final curtain.
Infamous lines from one of the most requested songs in karaoke bars, but no words seem more apt to describe the situation of Stage6 than that line from the song My Way. Februar 28, 2008 marks the last day of Stage6 on the internet which paves the way for a more the dominanc of You Tube. Many might not be familiar with Stage6, so to put everything into a nutshell, its similar to You Tube except it offers both streaming and download services for watching videos. Another glaring differnce is the number of videos being offered which makes You Tube the more popular choice due of the massive collection at their disposal.
While some may speculate as to the cause of its demise, the fact still remains that it’s all over for Stage6. It was a great ride for the DivX-run service, but unfortunately, all things must come to an end.
Adieu Stage6!
PS
If you want to catch a glimpse or dowload some of the videos before it completely shuts down, Stage6 is still accessible today.

Very sad day for the internet.
If you are a member of stage6 there is a community stage6 forum here for you...
http://stage6.18.forumer.com/
STAGE6 WAS THE FUTURE,BECAUSE IT WAS THE ONLY ONE COVERING ALL WORLD WITH HIGH DEFINITION.
NO ONE TV BROADCASTER COULD DO THAT,NO ONE REMEMBER.
YOU TUBE,YAHOO, MY SPACE ETC. IS THE PAST, WITH IS BAD VIDEO QUALITY.
Mr KEVIN HELL (Chief Executive Officer of DivX),and Mr MARKUS MOENIG, PLEASE MAKE A STAGE7.
THE WORLD, THE VIDEO QUALITY, and THE FUTURE NEEDS YOU.

What can I say, how gutting. I only registered yesterday after looking for somewhere to host my vids at a higher quality, I'd only uploaded one. Can anyone suggest an alternative?
There is no alternative to Stage6, there is simply no other site on the net atm that can compare, which is what makes this such a let down.
Stage6 wont close. Trust me, wou'll see.
A huge community was stranded by the decision to shut down Stage6. An extreme pity! A compilation of sites where the community is moving can be found at http://www.stage6community.com/
I cannot believe these guys at DIVX. I tried to contact them to buy the website. I left messages and emails. Nothing came back. I co-own a large and well funded video website which could easily have bought and run stage6.com. If I was a DIVX shareholder I would be furious.
Just what i was looking for!

Cool, a new video hosting website... should be a great comparison to the usual Youtube that is most popular. Huskies for Sale
