Philippine iTunes Store now Open

Apple’s been quite busy for the past couple of days. They’ve been working hard at the MobileMe transition, released  iTunes 7.7 and firmware 2.0 for the iPod Touch , and now they’ve added over 40 more countries to their list of where the iTunes Store is available including the Philippines. Philippine iTunes Store now a reality Yup, that’s right. The long awaited Philippines iTunes Store is now a reality (or close to it) as our beloved country is now officially part of the list where Apple’s premiere online store is available. However, I wouldn’t expect too much from it for now as most of the stuff available are just applications, no music or videos. They still need to add more content and localize the prices as well. Nevertheless, this latest development which is mainly a consequence of having the 3G iPhone released in our country is still a welcome treat. Do watch out for more improvements to come as the local release of the new iPhone draws nearer (whenever that maybe). By the way, if you already have an iTunes account using a US address, you need to either change your country in your profile or create a new account if you want to access the Philippine iTunes store. Another thing, those free apps that they’re offering for the iPhone/iPod Touch in iTunes, they’re really free to download, but you need to have iTune 7.7 installed and FW 2.0 running on your iPod Touch so you can transfer it. The thought is nice, but too many strings attached that I'd rather stick to Installer App for the time being.

I've just downloaded the iPod Touch 2.0 firmware and for now, it is going great with the iTunes Store and the App Store.. i mean i have a US account for iTunes but i only use it to download free stuff (featured music, podcasts, audiobooks, etc.)

i don't think i'll be registering for a Philippine account though.. US contents are still better.. i'll transfer to Philippines when they have it stabilized.. oh, wait a minute, why don't i get two accounts? lol....

hey thanks a lot! :D
ive been trying to figure out how to change my country dint realize it was right there.

Hmmm.. this is rather interesting! However, the only reason I would be downloading songs from iTunes Philippines is if it impacts my fave songs' position in Billboard Hot 100 :)

Its not there?

yup, good idea to create 2 itunes account. US and Philippines, no need for credit card enrollment, just buy prepaid cards in http://ituneshop.net/, very fast and reliable, they also teach you how to create account without credit card. :) have fun!

I purchased a Nano iPod from the Philippine store. But I find it will not charge on the iPod docking station that I already have. I have tried to buy speakers and docking station for my new Nano iPod. But can't find an apple store that will ship to the Philippines.

@spoke

The Philippines Apple Online Store is now open and they ship as well.

problem here:

i don't have any credit cards, and i can't activate my iTunes account. is there anything i can do?

I upgraded my iPod's firmware to the new one and they charged me 400 something pesos ($8 dollars?). I went for it and i tell you i have no regrets. My Ipod touch is now like a PDA. I downloaded the Holy Bible for free which I find very useful. I also downloaded other applications.

I hope IPod opens the music store. I'm sure they will make $$$ since Filipinos love music.

how can i download a filipino songs for my touch?
