WinPWN for iPhone FW 2.0 Released

WinPwn for Firmware 2.0 has finally been released last week, and while this latest development is a victory of sorts, I wouldn’t pop the champagne bottle just yet. Sure, it allows you to jailbreak your 3G iPhone and 2.0-running iPod Touch, but the 3rd party apps that we’ve come to enjoy are still not available on this new platform. Even if the latest Installer.app is released (which I’m guessing is just around the corner), we still have to wait for the rest of the developers to port their software to work with 2.0. As a consolation, there are a number of useful and entertaining apps available for free at Apple’s App Store which is probably enough to make those early 2.0 adaptors happy for the time being.
So for those who want to PWN their 2.0, here’s a quick tutorial courtesy of iClarified:
- Upgrade to iTunes 7.7 and download the following files: WinPWN 2.0.0.2 , Firmware 2.0 (I think this is for the iPhone, I couldn’t make it work on my iPod Touch. I used this instead for my Touch), 3.9BL and 4.6BL files (the last two files are needed for the iPhone).
- Run WinPWN and open the 2.0 IPSW file.
- Click IPSW builder and select the Applications you want to install.
- Go to Advanced and load the 3.9BL and 4.6BL files you downloaded.
- Click Build .ipsw at the bottom when you’re done (this will take a while).
- Once it’s finished, click the iPwner button in the Main Menu and select the customized IPSW you just created. If you’re successful, a messge informing you iTunes has been pawned will be displayed.
- Connect your iPhone/iPod Touch to your PC and put it into DFU mode.
- Hold down SHIFT and click restore.
- Select the IPSW file you just created and you’re done.
If you miss 1.1.4, you need iTunes 7.5 to downgrade. Once you’ve got the old version of iTunes installed again, just enter into DFU mode and select the 1.1.4 firmware to restore your unit.

it is not 1.4 but 1.1.4
