Globe Rolls-back 3G iPhone Prices

It’s both surprising and expected. Prior to the August 22 release of the 3G iPhone, Globe has slashed the prices of the iPhone to make it a bit more enticing to hesitant buyers. The price reduction is expected, but not this early. It’s just been barely over a week since the initial prices were released and in what could be described as a desperate attempt to lure more buyers, the prices of the handsets were lowered by roughly 10%. Here are the new 3G iPhone prices:

Futhermore, it is now available across all plans, and prepaid kit buyers will get P200 load per month for 5 months.

Yeah, the prices are now lower, but not low enough for me to completely rejoice and reserve one right this instant. While this is nevertheless still good news, I just can’t help but wonder why they didn’t offer this price right from the get go; and if indeed the handset price is still negotiable, is this the lowest it can go at the moment? I know that Globe also has to earn from their iPhone venture, but I’ve expressed my resentment in their choice of tactics in a previous post and even gave my suggestion on how they can really take advantage of the iPhone.

If you know the answer to the questions that have been bothering me, then you probably also know the answer to the question on whether to get one now or not.

i think globe got competition now coz samsung omnia is already available from samsung with 12 months to pay 0% interest
5 megapixel camera fast processing speed more software to choose from and cheaper alternative to iphone 3g so no wonder globe makes such a drastic price drop hehe :)

Globe’s price for an Iphone is such an overkill. Knowing that an iphone cost only $199 in abroad. I don’t know if this will be a click among filipinoes but having such a price will only cause some people to resort to black market for such phones. I hope Globe will still evaluate its current pricing on the phone to gain more market share.. :)

The price of the Iphone is still not attractive enough to win new prescriptions. I am an original handyphone subscriber since 1995 but am not too interested to get the Iphone due to many units available outside. If only globe can make it affortable specially to its loyal customers. Why not try a new line?

Globe 3G is not working in Malabon.
If i go further to Balintawak, it becomes edge only. Price is too expensive and Smart is better in terms of 3G. Sun is good in terms of pricing. Forget Globe

iphone does not know how to choose a partner. Internation price is $199, and who wants to buy the iphone?

I bought two units of LGKU380 for Smart and one for Globe. Guess what there is no signal in Malabon and only edge in Quezon City. Its like dial-up. Bad service and expensive is failure. Smart has signal!!!

All of you previous posters..Can’t you read?!$199,$299..You have to get a subscription from at

The $199 price tag means that you just get the unit, no network support. You need to get a subscription from a network meaning… you’ll gonna pay for that in addition.

Not to mention, the Apple iPhone 3G is manufactured in the US/outside the Philippines, which basically means that when it gets to the shores of our country, there’s a tax for the product, making the iphone that expensive here. Geez, economics 101.

get it?!?

I have a iPhone 3G 16GB

yeah. you can buy iPhone 3G abroad for $199 but it’s gonna be locked. so the solution is when you bring it here in the philippines you can have it unlocked by searching hacking tips to unlock it. it’s all over the net. or you can buy a dummy sim card that can let the phone act like an unlocked phone.. :)

GOSH!!! WHAT A HELL PRICE FOR THAT IPHONE!! IS THIS A JOKE? THIS GOVERNMENT IS SUCH A “CROCODILE” (BUWAYA SA PERA). THAT TAX IS SO HIGH..MY UNCLE IN ABROAD SAID IPHONE IN THERE ONLY COST $199 AND MORE FEATURE!!! IPHONE HERE IN PHILIPPINES IS NOT A DIAMOND SO YOU BETTER BE FAIR TO CUSTOMER ESPECIALLY TO US A FILIPINO CITIZENS.

BUY CHINA PHONE LESS EXPENSIVE!!! SA BULSA LANG NG TAO SA GOBYERNO LANG MAPUPUNTA ANG TAX SA IPHONE NA YAN!!! MGA IMMORAL TALAGA!!! SA ABROAD $199 LANG..TALO NYO PA ANG INTERNATIONAL COUNTRY SA PRICE..

As per the latest news, Apple has cut the price of its iPhone down to US$99! This is the reason Globe cut their prices down as well. But as it stands, they are still ripping people off!

from $199 to $99, you have to understand that they are upfront costs (not the cost of the phone) plus monhtly service fee of USD$75.

GLOBE’s pricing is rip-off. You also have to udnerstand that GLOBE paid Apple for the exclusive distribution of iphone, Hence, monopolising the supply of iphone.
