Nokia 5800 XpressMusic touchscreen phone launched

Nokia officially joins the likes of Apple, Samsung, HTC and LG in the touchscreen mobile phone biz when they finally unveiled the much-talked-about Nokia 5800 XpressMusic phone.

Nokia 5800 XpressMusic phone

It was previously referred to as the Tube, but I guess the XpressMusic name is more apt to its features. So, aside from its moderately-sized 3.2-inch display, what else can we find on the 5800? Well, there’s a 3.2-megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss lens and LED flash, stylus input support, WiFi, 3G/HSDPA, GPS, 81MB of internal memory and microSD card support up to 16GB. It’s expected to cost 279 Euros or $392 when it hits select markets before the year ends.

With its reasonable price, one would easily wonder what the drawbacks are in this phone, and that’s what we’ll probably look for once it does become available to the public. For now, we can just add the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic phone to our growing list of devices we’re looking forward to in the months to come.

its unfair to doubt the capacity of this phone based on its low price. they are just being competitive in order to penetrate markets where touchscreen units have dominated.

it is still a sizeable amount, granted today’s life is difficult. its an advantage for us, as other phone makers will try to lower also the price of their handsets.

Still the usual features for other iPhone competitors…..

I can be more productive with this phone than the iphone. Better picture quality with video on a 3.2 megapixel camera with flash is better than the iphone. Apple fans boast of killer apps but where are they. The internet on this phone is total browsing experience not like the iphone no flash support and will never have it because apparently apple and adobe are not in good terms. This phone has loud stereo spearkers iphone doesnt have. The list goes on and on….This should not be compared to iphone because this is far superior. Iphone can be described as a touch screen phone with half baked internet.

Price will be just like the IPhone from its original 200 - 300$ was tripled by the local distributor . . .

let’s see what this new symbian os can do. otherwise, just add around 100 USD and buy the all-around windows mobile.

its not 8gig internal memory.

the 8gig refers to the memory card as part of the package.

yeah windows mobile will make nokia 5800 a top choice for me over the samsung omnia.

I can’t wait for this phone to come out. If Singtel doubles its price again, I’ll think of other choices.

looks good ….

with nokia’s telephony experience…. this, i guess, would easily be the more superior over Iphone in terms of phone functions and phone features. It simply, in my impression, just works! Plus superior camera function makes this a good gadget to watch out for

“With its reasonable price, one would easily wonder what the drawbacks are in this phone”

Do you think all inexpensive phones have drawbacks?

Do you think your precious iphone does not have drawbacks? Considering it cannot even send MMS and files over Bluetooth and its still has that crappy camera that cannot even take video. Even a regular phone can do those things.

Thank you Apple for the iphone for making ordinary people dumb enough to buy it… so that I will be able to buy other far superior phone because of its low demand.

Thank you Steve Jobs for your creative marketing strategy that even implementing a 4 year old technology (3G) on the iphone makes dumb people reacts as if it is new.. “wow 3G on iphone! “I gotta have that”….” I want to be cool” Stupid…..

Lets just praise iphone for the benefit of the iphone lovers…that’s all they wanna hear… they got the best phone…for their investment…icrap, ileak, idumb!

I think all phones have drawbacks regardless of the price. However, those that are on the extreme ends, whether it be too expensive or too cheap, easily stand out as possible suspects.

In this day and age, it’s hard not to be skeptical when it comes to new gadgets, and it’s always better to be cautious.

ohh i see nokia 5800 express music huh.

well i’d rather get a samsung omnia or sony ericson xperia than getting similar like iphone with this one

but i’m hoping that this phone’s feature has more to offer and worth getting than iphone and any other touch screen related phones.

(:

How much will this baby cost if the iPhone 3G in the Philippines cost Php50,000 (US$1,50)?

Still not available here in Kuwait. Been waiting for it….
