Macs and banks

Just a heads-up.

This post may not be too much use to our overseas readers, but here in the Philippines, Mac users here who have Metrobank accounts who have been chomping at the bit to do online banking will find this good news.

The Metrobank system has been uncooperative with Macs ever since, forcing Mac users to turn to the dark side for their online banking needs. Well, as of yesterday, all seems to be fine with Macs and MetrobankDirect. I have it on good authority that the bank has been working hard all this time and they’ve finally licked it.

For Metrobank money matters via Macs go here.

Well Too Late. I cancelled my account from them a few months ago. I did however complained for lack of Mac support.

On the technical point of view. The lack Mac support only happens when their servers rejects access from other web browsers except for IE exclusively. Their customer service email reply is that they Restrict Access from Non-IE browser for Security Purposes, WHICH BY FACT IS AN OXYMOROM.

Now that isn’t to hard to fix Metrobank? Too bad my business went to BDO. Which happens to have an excellent online banking website. Works great on a Mac too.

    Hi,

That’s good news! I’m a recent Mac-convert & I was having problem accessing Metrobank’s online banking using my MacBook.

I’m an OFW working here in Singapore & I always check my Phil. bank accounts using the web.

Thanks for the heads-up! More power to your blog!
