Macs and banks

Just a heads-up. This post may not be too much use to our overseas readers, but here in the Phil ippines, Mac users here who have Metrobank ac counts who have been chomping at the bit to do online banking will find this go od news. The Metrobank system has been uncooperative with Macs ever since, forcing Mac u sers to turn to the dark side for their online banking needs. Well, as of yeste rday, all seems to be fine with Macs and MetrobankDirect. I ha ve it on good authority that the bank has been working hard all this time and t hey've finally licked it. For Metrobank money matters via Macs go here.

Hi,

That's good news! I'm a recent Mac-convert & I was having problem accessing
Metrobank's online banking using my MacBook.

I'm an OFW working here in Singapore & I always check my Phil. bank account
s using the web.

Thanks for the heads-up! More power to your blog!

Well Too Late. I cancelled my account from them a few months ago. I did howev
er complained for lack of Mac support.

On the technical point of view. The lack Mac support only happens when their s
ervers rejects access from other web browsers except for IE exclusively. Thei
r customer service email reply is that they Restrict Access from Non-IE browser
for Security Purposes, WHICH BY FACT IS AN OXYMOROM.

Now that isn't to hard to fix Metrobank? Too bad my business went to BDO. Wh
ich happens to have an excellent online banking website. Works great on a M
ac too.

thanks for the info you've posted, there is just so much info out there and thi
s is such a tiresome topic to research :(
