You know things have gone past silly when Steve Jobs creates a
ttention by being seen in public not in a black mock turtleneck and je
ans.
That said, take a look at Steve in a suit:
From earlier this year, when he went to Norway to see Al Gore
receive his Nobel Peace Prize.
Snazzy, but he's looking his age. Stick to the t-shirt, dude.

Well, attending a Nobel Prize is one of the few occasions where even I would we
ar suit and tie... among weddings, funerals and my PhD defense (where I DID wea
r suit and tie).
I agree, if I were to attend a function I'd choose a suit and tie instead of a t-shirt. There are certain occasions and we have to choose our clothes according to that which of course we all know. Steve may look past his age when in formals but in a function and in t-shirt would have made him uncomfortable too.

I don't think he had a choice to do anything else really. The ceremony was not about him, and if everyone else was wearing a suit he should as well. When he is presenting Apple's newest gadgets, wear what you please, but even a famous CEO should "conform" to everyone's standards. Hat off to Jobs.
