Rumors are rolling in about the next gen iPhone!
Engadget’s Ryan Block’s trusted source’s test unit (whew!) is alledgedly slightly thicker than the original, but retains almost everything else - size, shape, screen resolution, non-user-replaceable battery, save for a few marked differences: an all glossy non-metal black back, chrome volume buttons, a regular, unrecessed earphone port (thank God), and the much-awaited 3G and GPS features.
Also, no word on storage capacity (anyone for 32gb?) or battery life. Power is a major concern because of the newly introduced 3G and GPS and how those’d affect power consumption (which was the reason they were left out in the first place). Might make the Mophie Juice Pack (which we mentioned in a previous post) a bigger deal - if the new unit would be compatible with it, that is.
Of course, as Ryan says, no one can tell with Apple if this’ll be the one that’ll come out this year (as early as July, they say). For all we know, knowing Steve Jobs, this might well be a red herring he’s throwing out to get us off track. It could be totally different. Abangan!

yeah, i dont think apple would resort to bulk, and i dont think with the plans of a 3G capacity and GPS, they would not want to increase the memory. these upgrades adds too much bulk in the space, and i dont think they would want to jeopardize that. anyway, they increased the first gen iPhone to 16GB which might be the next base capacity for the second gen.
if not to ask too much, maybe the MP of the camera shall be increased too.

This is a F-A-K-E!!! The picture you see is just a 3rd party case and not the next iPhone.

I totally agree, I like this way it looks and feels. If they needto make it slightly thicker that’s ok. I do wish the aluminum case wasn’t soo slippery. It almost mandatory that it be put into a case (kid of makes the whole appearance mute).

this photo is not the next gen iphone. do you really think the next gen iphone will still offer an 8Gb verison? Also, I hope apple doesnt think that all black like the one in the photo is better looking than the current one. Please leave the iphone looking like the current model but stuff in all that good 3G GPS goodness!

I hope this is not the new iPhone. First of all, I hate the black. It looks so much cheaper than the current model. Secondly, it would scratch like crazy. The great thing about the current iPhone is its relative unscratchability. The screen is glass and the back is aluminum. Perfect. Why go and mess it up?
