Yes, it's likely photoshopped. But still a hoot, no? Besides, PC Magazine repor
ts that the best laptop to run Vista on is a Mac, so it's not a long stretch of
the imagination. I know people who buy a Mac to run Windows on (shudder).

I don't think its edited. Saw the original post earlier on Facebook and another
user posted a similar shot taken from a different angle. Apparently there were
two MacBook Pros in use.

Why you people like Macs, I still have no clue. They are horrible machines that
are generally incompatible with more than basic programs. The interface is, al
so, quite shoddy. Why do you like them? Because the current "sub" culture says
it's cool? Would you like to know why there aren't many viruses on Macs? Becaus
e they suck, and no one bothers writing viruses for them because they reign ove
r such suckiness.

why does everyone host their images on flickr and photobucket?? can they not
host their images on their own server?? I would say alot of schools/buisnesses
block out flickr & photobucket. so all their images are also blocked out.
Which leaves many many blogs and pages image less. You will program for 10 d
ifferent browsers to make sure your site is viewable for everyone and then you
go and host your photos on a site that offers alot content that is not suitable
for work or school. hmmm I think mabye the web community should not proceed
into this imageless abyss.

...seriously, neb. Do you have any idea what you're talking about. The mac int
erface is actually pretty sweet. Have you used OSX leopard edition? The 'spac
es' and 'expose' utilities are really great. Much much better than any Windows
interface, and at least as visually pretty as Vista without the bugs. Addition
ally, it is pretty much a fact that macs process multimedia better than PC's.
Images just look cleaner.

Also, there are a wide variety of programs available for macs that cover a wide
range of applications. It's out of the box functionality for multimedia is we
ll beyond what windows has to offer. The only thing lacking really is gaming.
I don't really game a whole lot, so this really doesn't bother me.

Don't get me wrong. I've been a windows user for quite some time, and i like i
t for the most part. But i've recently gotten a macbook and I'm really impress
ed.

you know i kind of agree with neb, mac os is much better than vista, bit its st
ill not as good as xp.

plus apple computers are so taxed its ridiculous. You can buy the same hardware
for a little more than half the price if it wasnt an apple. Check out psystar
they are making computers that will run mac os now.

i dont know what neb is saying, all i know is that since i switched to the Appl
e, i dont know how to format Word documents on the Vista version of Word (or wh
ichever version it is). i dont know also what neb is saying about problem with
programs, coz even before the new OS, u can use Fusion and run windows. i dunno
also what neb was saying about viruses, because the fact that there are not mu
ch viruses that invades a system makes it much dependable, such as a wear and t
ear type. i dunno dude, Apple for me is worth every cent that ive spent my mone
y on it, and to most people who still has it seven years have passed.

Wrong wrong wrong. Microsoft invested $150 million in Apple in 1997 though the
purchase of 150,000 shares of non-voting preferred stock (a patent dispute sett
lement). That stock became convertible in 2000 and by the end of 2001, Microsof
t had converted all of its preferred stock into about 18 million shares of Appl
e common stock. All of that stock has been sold off.

MS own nothing of Apple.

But yeah, I shout fake. Despite Microsoft 'only' being a software company, I do
ubt they'd give credence to Apple by using a Mac on stage for a conference - th
ey're still a competitor.

i don't think that Mac considers anything unfair.

until a couple months ago, i was a PC (per the latest ridiculous MS campaign).
and a happy one at that. but after a couple hours spent on my friend's macboo
k pro, i decided to take the leap and buy a $3K mac. and i LOVE it.

i can say that, like all mac owners, i feel privileged and enlightened. and as
apple is gaining computer market share and DOMINATES mp3 player market share a
nd has the dodge viper of phones . . . i don't think that it has anything to wo
rry about.

Steve Jobs and Apple didn't 'steal' Xerox's GUI OS from PARC, 'dannyboy,' if th
at IS your real name. They didn't know what to do with it, and it wasn't patent
ed/copyrighted/trademarked. Yes they were foolish, but no Apple didn't 'steal'
it. Actually if you think about it, it makes plenty of sense. If Apple had 'sto
len' it then it would have already been running on an Apple or Mac computer. Th
at's impossible because they weren't created yet.

Give genius where genius is due: Steve Jobs is a very smart guy.

Required, it may very well be running an MS OS; macs can do that. :) You can du
al boot them, too.

okay;
1) there was no "theft" of the windows software/idea, it was initally developed
by xerox and ported through the unix system to what is called 'x-windows' deve
loped in the early 1970's
-the idea was "borrowed" by both companies
2) mac os x uses a unix like backend called BSD - which is a direct desendant o
f the original unix developed in bell labs
- that's why os-x is better than windows, it's inherited YEARS AND YEARS (aroun
d 30 or more) of development, testing, and security patches -> windows came
from a simple 8 bit cms rip off with a single user interface, UNIX was multiuse
r from the beginning (and invented the tcp stack) no wonder mac is better

Can't we just say that it's a comical picture because Apple and Microsoft are c
ompetitors?

But at risk of adding fuel to the fire, I prefer Windows to OSX because I feel
their OS sales model is more open. You can install it on any computer hardware,
which makes it more accessible to the market. This advantage means that Micros
oft will always lead Apple in market share unless Apple introduces lower priced
hardware options (at the risk of cannibalizing their sales).

Does anyone know if this is true? A few seconds with almost any photo editor c
ould do this. True or not, it's almost as funny as the old picture of Bill Gat
es in hie office with one of the original MACs in the background.

That one I do know about. He was given the Mac by Steve Jobs when Apple approa
ched Microsoft about writing applications for the Mac.
