The brick walls that are in our way are there for a reason. They are not there to keep us out. They are there to give us a way to show how much we want [something].
~~ Professor Randy Pausch, who died of pancreatic cancer in 2008.
This quote was part of his "Last Lecture" at the Carnegie Mellon University, a traditional lecture series where professors are given the chance to say what they would to their students if they were to die soon. For Dr. Pausch, the theoretical exercise literally became true, when he was diagnosed with the debilitating disease. Watch the full lecture on Oprah.

Salve,
Thank you very much for passing on this wonderful and inspiring lecture of Prof. R. Fausch. I am absolutely sure his children will inherit his positive attitude toward life. They too will continue their father's legacy for the benefit of humanity.
I encourage every blogger of this forum to forward this lecture to different schools' email addresses, from high schools and to every universities.
Please access on You Tube: Morrie: Lesson on Living (with Ted Koppel 1-9 segments of his Nightline interviews with the late Prof. Morrie Schwartz of Brandeis University).
This poignant interaction between Ted Koppel, of Nightline, and Prof. Morrie Schwartz about the latter's life and death is a must see, listen to and be recommended too.
Very good post Salve.
You are a lit candle in a dark stadium darkened by fear and apathy.
Keep lighting those candles! As you can see, you are not alone. Prof. Pausch believed in the goodness of man; the key is to not give up.
I already watched it before. It was one of the most inspiring movies that I watched. I greatly like what he said in the end: "If you live your life the right way, the Karma will take care of itself. The Dreams will come to you. If you live properly, the dreams will come to you."
I mean videos. LOL. *laughs*
A fantastic post Salve!
People like Prof R. Fausch provide a good example and an inspiration on how to live life in spite of the many difficult things ahead of us.
Highly recommended!
Very inspiring, I think this video should go out to the world because though Prof. Pausch is no more with us he has left behind powerful speeches which can transform lives and bring harmony amongst ourselves. Transforming the lives of other people is the most difficult task and he did that so easily. His simple speeches about the philosophies of life will be cherished forever if we all try to spread his wonderful messages. Those who've known Prof. Pausch or listened to him before will surely want to see his children continue his legacy.
