THANKS to all for your comments — keep them coming!

And while we are on this “Desperate Housewives” topic (read the latest development on the story by clicking here), and as we feel energized by this lively discussion, let me bring up a related matter.

Most Filipinos know that in many US hospitals, you can’t turn a corner without bumping into a Filipino health care professional — doctor, nurse, therapist, nurse aide and so on. So have you, like me, wondered why there are no Filipino characters in the main cast of these hospital drama shows? And to think there are dozens of these shows on American television.

More Filipino doctors can diagnose diseases by history and physical examination alone, because the expensive technology and apparatus of the West to which many American doctors have become dependent upon, are not available here in RP. I still believe in the Filipino medical education system, even if mis-informed and insensitive Americans think they have the best in the universe. I don’t know how many American doctors could manage with confidence tuberculosis or dengue. Or manage diseases with very meager resources!

As desperate housewives showed it, Filipinos do not deserve to be medical practitioner. Really, these desperate housewives deserve a BIG SLAP for every Pinoy.
