DO you remember “Combat!,” starring Vic Morrow and Rick Jason? This was one of my favorite shows when I was a kid — I used to watch it with my grandfather.
Here’s the show intro courtesy of ldesilvi.
I remember being shocked by the news that Vic Morrow was dead (along with the two children he was holding during this scene) due to that infamous helicopter accident during the shooting of “Twilight Zone: The Movie.”

I remember all of a sudden they started showing Combat - “In Color”.
That’s when I realized - “So it was during the middle of World War II that everything in the World became colored!”
I was like 5. It FELT like I had discovered gravity or something =)

If not enough, I don’t believe anyone knows that Rick Jason is also gone, and what worse, he took his own life in October 2000 in despair over finances and credit problems which he felt he cound not overcome. Can you believe that?
I know they should again show COMBAT! Why it got taken off the air was because of the complaints of the German government and the German community in the Philippines, who kept on getting embarrassed over one too many people they have met talking to them about Combat the moment they learn that they were from Germany or of German heritage, or about the infamous Nazi Reich ruling Germany during the setting of Combat!
What happened in Combat! took place from 1943 till 1945, and not in the late sixties till the late seventies when it was showing in the Philippines. I don’t mean to offend anyone viewing Combat but they should know better than to talk to a German about Combat or World War II in general. (I was a Pinoy of German-American descent who immigrated to the US because nobody believed I was a Pinoy since I was too white to be one, according to them; I would tell people I was a German because of anti-American sentiment at the time and the first thing I got told was either about Combat or about the infamous Third Reich ruling Germany till 1945. So I can feel for those who complained against Combat!)
But I also missed Combat afterwards. Why dont’ they show it again and then put disclaimers before the show stating that what happened happened between 1939 and 1945 and should not be misinterpreted as current events, and that Germany today is not the Germany of the Combat era!
