Wilson Sy is in love with entrepreneurship. He loves to work with ideas and he loves putting these ideas to the test. But he is also smart enough to see a
business mentoring activity as an opportunity to “see what’s out there” that can help him up the ante a little bit more.
Currently, he is nurturing two companies: the master franchisor for Swisher, which offers professional deep cleaning of toilet fixtures, toilet bowls, urinals and sinks. He says his company's goal is to elevate the standards of restroom hygiene in the country. You've probably seen some of his products in malls around Metro Manila. To add more value to the company’s services, the company also provides soap dispensers, and air fresheners. (
No, he is not related to the former Philippine Stock Exchange chairman who goes by the same name).
His new company, No More Slipping Inc., sells safety chemicals for floors, toilets, kitchen, malls or any slippery surface to prevent accidents. The company name presents an amusing challenge: people think it’s “No More Sleeping, Inc.” Umm, "anti-sleeping" will be quite a challenge to sell! But Wilson is not about to give up, believing deeply that Filipinos will benefit from putting safety first.
“Here in the Philippines, the mentality is that (safety) is not a big thing. That’s what I am trying to take away. I’m pushing for being more safety conscious,” Wilson explains.
In his introductory video, he avoided revealing his age but says he wants to retire hopefully by age 60 from actively managing his businesses, but still continuing to work. “Hopefully, I can do what we have been planning to do, which is to set up a foundation for premature babies,” he says. Hi, This guy sure remembers to share the profits of his company. This makes us partners very happy. He is very transparent in his dealings with his partners. A good team player ! Our country needs more entrepreneurs like him.
Here is a vote for Wilson.
While he seems like a nice guy, the business concept for me is not an easy sell. How many people really need "deep cleaning" toilet chemicals and no-slip chemicals? The product seems easy to be copied and reformulated by chemists out there who are already churning out generic detergent and cleaning products. The fact that his product (no slipping) requires a mindset change from potential clients makes it even harder to sell.
Though it may seems Mr. Sy's ideas are "basic", yet it is for this kind of entrepreneur that we should be grateful.
He is addressing what a lot of food establishments are not giving importance, that is to give back to their paying clients what is due to them - that is having a clean, safe and fresh facilities.

Skyscrapers which wows us can turn nonsense if the building does not provide hygienic restrooms. Unlike the olden times people are now more hygienic and have realized that diseases are not taboos from tradition but the fact is that, except the hereditary ones, most of the diseases are caused due to unhealthy and unhygienic lifestyles. A dirty restroom can be the most ugly sight and different types of infectious diseases spread from unhygienic restroom. Whoever introduced the idea of soap dispensers, handy sanitizers to carry around and air fresheners deserves appreciation because these products are preventing various kinds of diseases. Wilson Sly is an inspiration who thinks of making lives happier by introducing hygienic ideas.

While not the most "glamorous" business, it is definitely one that is needed and one deserving praise. It is important to keep facilities clean, and cleanliness of a restroom can tell you a lot about how well a business is ran. I am also glad that there is a point made for safety. I wish Wilson Sly the best of luck in the competition!
