Cash, The Perfect Gift

Los Angeles, Ca, Dec. 9, 2008 - Western Union launched their “Cash, the Perfect Gift” holiday campaign with a press conference at Roy’s Restaurant in downtown Los Angeles, California. A recent survey of Western Union’s marketing initiative showed that a majority of gift recipients prefer cash, particularly in the light of the downward economy. To emphasize the fact, Western Union unveiled their holiday YouTube video program with talented Filipina sensation HappySlip, Christine Gambito. The up and coming comedian was not available for a face to face interview due to an out of the country commitment with the Philippine Department of Tourism, however, Gambito and the media representatives were able to converse via webcam. Holiday scents here and abroad

By Kinny Salas
Philippine Daily Inquirer

IN US malls, I automatically looked for the cosmetic items and body care products not available in the Philippines.

My first stop was Bath & Body Works where I hoarded the limited-edition Christmas special Vanilla Bean Noel line, which was a very-foody vanilla even more potent than L’Occitane’s now-discontinued Vanilla Eau de Toilette. Read More »

Christmas is almost here. I can already hear the groans of moms, ninangs, and aunts who are already feeling the economic crunch. Gift-giving this coming Yuletide season will be an additional burden for their stressed-out pocket books.

But Christmas does not have to add a wrinkle to the Pinay’s kutis porcelana (porcelain complexion). It is after all a time of joy that should be focused on Jesus, the reason for the season. We however, cannot escape from the traditional gift-giving. Gifts are just meant to show we care and that we remember those who are important to us. Read More »

Practical gift suggestions

By Ria Francisco-Prieto
Philippine Daily Inquirer

MOST of my friends are done with their Christmas shopping. I wish I were, too, but I’ve just finished buying gifts for the kids and have no clue what to give the adults.

The deal with my close friends is, we just ask each other what we really need. This means products we would normally buy but would also love to get as presents, since that way we won’t have to shell out money. Being practical about things these days is something you shouldn’t be ashamed of. Read More »
