Let there be a Pacquiao-Custodio debate

03/18/07

Posted under Darlene Custodio, Feedback, Manny Pacquiao

I WOULD like to propose a debate between Representative Darlene Antonino-Custodio and Manny Pacquiao on all issues: ranging from the economy to issues regarding overseas Filipino workers, etc.

And then they could talk to the people of General Santos City about their own platforms.

To run for office without direction “ay parang manok na pinugutan ng ulo (is like being a decapitated chicken).”

Yeah, this was the first big fight of a career in which the opponent was not hired to lose……not a really surprising outcome.

i guess, we can not attribute the victory of Darlene Custodio to her constituents’ trust in her. i feel that, these people just want Manny to focus on his boxing career rather than wander and get his hands dirty on the labyrinth called politics .

South Cotobato folks showed how much they love our country by not voting for Manny. They chose to sacrifice their district’s well-being than lose the glory that our country receives because of Manny.

Try to dig into Manny’s perspective… this satire is my interpretation:

I am a World Champion. I am adored by my counrtymen as they line on the streets just to catch my wave to them. Even the President of the country seeks my company. Everybody looks good beside me. More so all these important people whose functions in the government and economy I do not understand. All I know is that they are all important. I am so rich, I can buy people, bet against the biggest gambler, and throw away millions on an election that will make me feel more powerful than owning these most dreaded punches. Remember that I am a gambler and all I did was gamble a few millions. And so I did.

I have a secret to share. More than the election money gone, I am now starting to think if this is the start of my downfall. Will luck stay with my deflated ego? Reality bites. Will I be affected by words spoken by my old and newfound critics? Alaskado ako! Atienza is gone. Chavit is gone. FG almost died! Shish, GMA may be on her way out. I hope Freddie Roach will not leave me because there will always be good boxers to fight me. It’s a good thing that my money will never leave me because I can always win in the casino or in pool halls.

You will yet to see the worst of me. All of us go down hard. I don’t want to be like Tyson or like Navarete. When I fall, everybody is going to pounce on me. I am begining to think even BIR will. I know either Bob Arum or Chavez will.
