Osmeña’s populist pretensions

03/27/07

Posted under Genuine Opposition, John Osmeña, Readers' Blog Posts, Senatorial Bets

JOHN OSMEÑA’S anti-VAT [value-added tax] political ad is totally disgusting. It has marks of a populist, anti-development rhetoric. He provides no alternatives to the VAT and gives no concrete justifications for his objection aside from the supposedly anti-poor effects of the law.

As seen in almost all countries, populist policies are actually more anti-poor because of their damaging effects on the economy and the society, as a whole.

If John Osmeña really thinks that VAT is wrong, then, what is his opinion on his partymates and other GO [Genuine Opposition] candidates who voted in favor of VAT?

I hate it when people says he’s from Cebu. He is just dishonoring the Cebuanos, even them(Cebuanos) don’t like him at all

That shows how brainless these people are. He should retire from Politics. Not sure whether he was the one rumoured to be neither guy nor gay, hope not but if it is true, i’m not surprise about his low level of intelligence and undecisiveness.

At least our gay kababayan’s are decisive and most of them are intellectually sound, John Osmenia is neither here nor there.

dapat nag retire na siya sa politica noon pa. huwag na siyang magpumilit pang magaing senador na ang issue niya ay VAT….. wala naman siya sinasabi kung ano ipapalit niya sa VAT… ano ba yan!

I abhor the ads of GO as they tend to focus on the negative side. They failed to relay their platform of government. They said they are anti-corruption but ironically, their leader is accused and still under house arrest due to plunder!
