I AM happy that the Inquirer keeps credible columnists like Randy David, Walden Bello, Solita Monsod, MLQ III and a lot more.
What I don’t understand is that amid the scholarly written articles, there comes Ramon Tulfo writing about the newly elected governor of Pampanga, Father Ed Panlilio, whom he thought was losing in a fair battle.
I’m really vexed at the thought that the Inquirer also keeps rotten tomatoes like Ramon Tulfo in their newspaper.
Quoting his post:
Priest-turned-politician Eddie Panlilio should shut up if he can’t prove his allegations that his closest rival, Board Member Lilia “Baby” Pineda, committed fraud in the Pampanga gubernatorial race.
As of this writing, Pineda had widened her lead over Panlilio, with the incumbent, Gov. Mark Lapid, coming in third. (Panlilio was proclaimed the winner last nightâ€â€ŔEditor)
Panlilio should stop being a crybaby and admit that he lost in a fair fight. He is barking up the wrong tree since Pineda is not the incumbent. I’m not saying Lapid cheated, but the sitting official usually has the capability to cheat because of power and machinery.
Now, who should shut up? Thank you for telling Father Panlilio to stop being a crybaby, because as of the moment, all his tears are of joy! And who are you to say that Baby Pineda has no capacity to cheat? Come on, I am from Pampanga and I really don’t know if you live here. Mr. Tulfo, I think you’re the one barking at the wrong tree; anyway, dogs really do that sometimes. The next time you write about the results of elections, see to it that you have correctly seen the COCs. What gave you the idea that Baby Pineda won? Strange, really strange. I will just wait for the apology that you will address to Father Ed. Learn your lesson. Thank you.

I like Tulfo in Inquirer because then, I do not have to read the tabloids. He makes me aware of the forces in society who try to send obvious messages through writers of his kind.
I like Tulfo when he makes those exposes. But between exposes, he serves as a barometer of who to trust in our society. Tulfo is quite transparent because he is not consistent with why he hits people. He is the typical writer who hangs around in hotel lobbies and shoots off the hip with whatever he sees worth mentioning in his column. The man has got to make a living. To me, he’s okay in Inquirer.
The rest of the writers that you had mentioned are academicians whose points of view have been in the molding since their college days.
As a little boy, I was always warned by my parents not to believe everything that I read on the papers. What is read between the lines makes us more aware. I would know what is advertising and what is payola. I also know conviction. This is why the best kick I get with reading the papers is reading between the lines.

Mr. Tulfo surely received tong from Pineda as a payment for him to write a black propaganda against Fr. Panlilio who was surely a winner. Do you believe that Tulfo will side with a person who has nothing to give but rather public services by heart? Never in the history of Ramon Tulfo to side with a person who wont give money in exchange for a good publication. That’s the true personailty of Tulfo.

Tulfo has so many friends who are into hanky panky business. The Pinedas are one. It is Tulfo’s closeness to them ( I have read so many of his columns on which he praised Baby Pineda like a Mother Teresa of sort) that made him bias against Among Ed. Tulfo is not a good journalist. He writes not by his mind but by his emotion.

Yes. That was really dumb. Ramon Tulfo should check his facts first before he rants.

I absolutely agree. But there is a reason for Mr. Tulfo to say that. You know, “bayaran” siya ni Pineda, What I mean is that nasa payroll siya ni Lilia Pineda, kaya hindi niya magawang magsabi ng masama sa kanya eh… Haaaaayyy, alam mo Mr. Tulfo, marami Kapampangan mapapaaway mo sa nasabi mo sa column mo… Oh pliz, how can you be so sure that Mrs. Pineda didn’t cheat?? Is it becuase she talks so “sincerly” na hindi niya kaya magawang mag-cheat. Ok, relty check Mr. Tulfo, It is confirmed and,i really mean confirmed that Lilia Pineda has done MASSIVE Vote buying days before the Election. And the receiving parties?? Councilors, All Barangay Officials(From the El Kapitan to the Tanod), and even BEIs. Don;t doubt my statements cause this were confirmed from our Barangay officials, and BEIs who, ironically are my relatives. So, who is barking the wrong tree Anyway?
