The tide of protest votes

05/24/07

Posted under Readers' Blog Posts

IF we look at the results of the recent elections, both at the local and national level, I can’t help but see a tiny glimpse of hope budding up.

That is if we have to believe the analysis of the press of the circumstances surrounding these results. We are witnessing an upsurge trend of protest votes not only against GMA, but also against the system as a whole.

If for that alone, there is reason to begin investing our hopes on better politics ahead…

Palace gives out 2M in projects to 5 towns in Bohol who gave 12-0 to TU.

Bohol is flooded with fake P500 and P1000 bills.

Headlines one on top of the other, need we say more?

Naloko na naman ang mga boholanos, binigyan lang ng fake money.

Whoever will win after counting all the ballots would think of himself as of service to the country.I hope he/she won’t be a problem to our beloved nation. It’s quite hard to think about after previous elections that there were some good leaders whom we voted but where are they now? People voted for them thinking that they can lead the country well. Now that we voted for new lawmakers, I wish and hope that our laws(myriad laws) would be strenghtened and implemented wisely with the spirit of nationalism. I hope there was no big mistake of exercising our suffrage. But they are in jail na masarap ang buhay! Isn’t it unfair? Is this provision in our constitution still applicable to what is happening now? I hope we did understand with the real meaning of this word - VOTE!

Another killing under the bugos regime of Gloria Arroyo, I won’t be surprise if Father Ed: well be the next target. Kasi nakasagopa niya ang mga kampon ni santanas.

The election results clearly show that Filipino people are deviating from the present administration. Positive or negative? I have my reservations. All that is certain is that after the elections, and senators are validly declared, our struggle for unity and prosperity does not end there. We can only watch and pray that voters were right in choosing there candidates.

    A nation fights back

The stage was set, the agents of darkness with their vote shavers had been strategically deployed, the grotesque machine that worked so well in the past to thwart the people’s will was again brought out and oiled; and even before the voting began it was all over save for the tainted canvassing. Or so they thought.

A gross miscalculation; one brought about by blind arrogance; this is what the administration, Mr. Abalos, and the seasoned Comelec “operators” trained in the dark art and science of election fraud in the ‘School of the Garci’; committed. Even months before the midterm elections, all the signs of the planned cheating were there for all to see. Many writers have documented these in the weeks past, but some are still worth mentioning. From reports of stolen election returns which were nonchalantly dismissed by the Comelec chairman as “nothing to worry about’’; to the blatant attempts on the part of Mr. Abalos to hide the truth about the party lists, to the brazen sabotage of Alan Cayetano’s candidacy and the insane pronouncements of “Justice” Secretary Raul Gonzales” for their votes for his chosen candidate; the list was enough to make one physically sick with disgust.

While we had hoped our fears would be proven wrong, the entire country and much of the world now know that the wholesale cheating that went on, and is still going on during this last election, is the worst, most brazen,

There is no hope to this country if we let these corrupt official stealing our votes. Its time to unite and fight back because this is the only way. Don’t let them get away with it. Fight back to the end.
