The tide of protest votes

05/24/07

Posted under Readers' Blog Posts

IF we look at the results of the recent elections, both at the local and national level, I can’t help but see a tiny glimpse of hope budding up.

That is if we have to believe the analysis of the press of the circumstances surrounding these results. We are witnessing an upsurge trend of protest votes not only against GMA, but also against the system as a whole.

If for that alone, there is reason to begin investing our hopes on better politics ahead…

    Oil price hike sumirit pa

    (JB Salarzon)

“We’ll increase prices of gasoline, kerosene and diesel by 50 centavos per liter and liquefied petroleum gas by 50 centavos per kilogram effective 12:01 Saturday morning,” ayon sa mensaheng ipinaabot ng opisina ni Kanapi.

Many trapos still won and the system will stay for a along time. If we ever shift to a parliament or federalism, same families will hold the key positions.

In some of the election surprising outcomes, I do not call them protest votes. People are just exercising their freedom to vote for people who they think embodies their beliefs.

nothing new in the Philippines…Political Dynasty are still entrenched in Philippine politics…members of political dynasty just exchange places so they could maintain their hold on their place….Massive vote buying still exist…no matter what the candidate personality trait is it’s the money that counts when getting a vote…the only good thing that came out of this so called election is that no celebrity was voted in the Top 12, kudos to filipino voters for that…it’s a sad state for our country…election is not for electing good candidates but getting to be business for the candidates, voters and comelec officials. The more money you give out the great chance you get elected.

Tony. This is one of the reason why most of poor people selling their votes if somebody buying their votes, kasi they don’t have anything to cook. You can’t blame them. Ever since this bugos President of cebu has been squatting in malacanyang palace there is more filipino people are starving.

Aside from that if they’re not going to sell their votes, Nanakawan naman nila. So, whats the different. Mabuti pa ipagbili mo nalang may makain ka pa. But at the same time, vote to somebody who you think can run this country better. tapos ang usapan! Oh, Di ba?…..Ayos, Ang buto buto, Ika nga.
