[PANFILO] LACSON wants to head the Senate blue-ribbon committee.
“I want to advance my advocacy of accountability among public officials. If only for it, I want to chair the blue-ribbon committee. But I won’t beg for it nor exchange my vote to get that committee,” he said, referring to his vote for Senate president.
Since majority of the Senate is now GO [Genuine Opposition] and they are serious about their anti-corruption drive and putting corrupt public officials in jail, will they prosecute Erap? Or will they go only for administration candidates and their allies?

I think the result of Estrada’s verdict has been fair enough since evidences were clearly presented before the court. I agree with what presidential spokesman, Ignacio Bunye stated on the Erap plunder case, “We believe in the rule of law and in letting justice take its course. Just because Joseph Estrada was the former president of the Philippines, it doesn’t give him exceptions from imprisonment. He too is a citizen of this country and is therefore given equal rights regardless of his position.

ERAP deserves to be in jail and suffer the consequences of his actions. mistresses and midnight cabinets are over.
it is payback time!
to my kababayans, open up your minds. we are not talking of a movie film of ERAP here. it is a real life drama.
i am confident that ERAP will be convicted!!

speaking of lacson, natatandaan pa ninyo:

As already been proven in court of law, That President Joseph Estrada, Is no guilty of any wrong doing. Therefore the court should set him free. But, In the event that the court convect President Joseph Estrada, Because they’re only taken order from Gloria Arroyo. Then we should do our part, And probe to these corrupt judges that we the people have the power above them. After all we are the one paying their salary. What is the point on having a court house if they’re not going to follow the rules of law; What is the point on having it all, If we have a CORRUPT JUSTICE SYSTEM. I’ll say, Lets unite and kick their ass, And throw them in jail where they belong. Alone with GLORIA ARROYO!!! ITS OVERDUE!!! KICK HER ASS OUT. THE FILIPINO PEOPLE DESERVE BETTER. Salinas

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
wala lang……..
malapit na kasi ilabas ng sandiganbayan ang kanilang hatol…….
noong ipeachment trial, kitang kita na kung sino may kasalan…….
itutuloy ko pa ba……
wag na lang, baka sabihin nila pinepreempt ko ang hatol ng sandiganbayan…..
nanoond naman kayo ng impeachment trial, di ba……….
yon na yon, palagay ko wala rin kayong duda kung sino ang may kasalanan……..
The Senate Opposition: Hope? hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhaaa..Its still the same mga pare ko. In the end its is ONLY their personal interests that matters for them.
Read the news below:
‘Presidential ambitions splitting opposition’
BY CHRISTINA MENDEZ
The Philippine Star
Two newly elected Genuine Opposition (GO) senators have blamed the “political ambitions of some opposition senators for the opposition’s failure to come up with one candidate for the Senate presidency.
Senators-elect Loren Legarda and Francis Escudero said on Friday that the emergence of two or three aspirants is making it difficult for the opposition to vote as one.
So far, the opposition has not decided whether Senate President Manuel Villar Jr. should be replaced when the 14th Congress opens next month.
“The members of the opposition have been meeting on this issue, Escudero told the Manila Overseas Press Club Thursday night in Makati.
“We are battling for a consolidated vote. We will vote as a group and as a bloc. It does not matter who will be the candidate at this point. We want to vote as a bloc, he said.
Escudero said opposition senators have been conducting dialogues to determine who should be the opposition candidate for the Senate presidency on July 23.
During the same forum, Legarda said opposition senators have been working hard to “gather a consensus to put up one strong contender for the top Senate post.
“I guess that it would be pathetic if after having won overwhelmingly, we would lose, she said. “As Chiz mentioned, we have endeavored to meet regularly without the possible contenders and we try to get a consensus.
It would be “pathetic if the opposition “loses in the vote and committee chairmanships because they are divided, she added.
Legarda said while the opposition has a majority of 13 in the Senate, they could not reach a consensus because there is more than one contender for the top Senate post. “It (contenders) could be two or three, she said.
Escudero said the performance of the senators in the next three years would determine front-runners in the 2010 presidential elections.
“If the next three years will be a referendum, so be it, he said.
“Let every person vying, aspiring, wanting to become president or vice-president show our people in the next three years why they should vote for him or her. I don’t see anything wrong with that.
Escudero said he does not see anything wrong if some senators would be seen as politicking rather than introducing reforms in Congress.
Politics defines the art of convincing other people through one’s performance in the service, he added.
“I do not believe that we the newly elected senators in Congress will simply do our own campaigning, Legarda said. “That is merely speculation. It is up to our people to decide who among us perform, it is our responsibility to help the people.
“If we do not do this, we are in for something unexpected. I assure you we will not busy ourselves simply with politicking or investigations.
Legarda said she believes that the best politics is performance.
“If we speak of 2010 now, I believe that is a great disservice to our people, she said.
“As I mentioned there are 20 million Filipinos – almost 10 percent – (who are) unemployed… I think that it is incumbent upon us as new senators and those who remain at the Senate to make sure to pass laws that would address the basic needs of our people – health, education, agriculture and other basic needs.
She will not be joining the fray for the Senate presidency to avoid complicating the issue further, Legarda said.
Escudero said the situation remains uncertain because the list of those interested in running for the Senate presidency keeps changing.
“Two or three, more can be emerging in the next few days, he said, without admitting whether he would go for Villar or Pimentel.
He would rather wait for those seeking the Senate presidency to show their intention, Escudero said.
Reports said Sen. Miriam Defensor-Santiago, perceived to be pro-administration, has expressed support for Villar.
Senator-elect Gregorio Honasan is also reportedly placing his bet on Villar, reports added.
Senators Edgardo Angara, Juan Ponce Enrile, Joker Arroyo, Pia Cayetano, Richard Gordon, Lito Lapid, Bong Revilla and Santiago are counted as pro-administration.
Honasan has vowed to remain independent, but he is considered by some to be also pro-administration ally.
Opposition senators Villar, Aquilino Pimentel Jr, Manuel Roxas II, Jinggoy Estrada, Jamby Madrigal, Panfilo Lacson, Rodolfo Biazon, and Senators-elect Alan Peter Cayetano and Antonio Trillanes IV belong to the new Senate majority.
Lacson will not prosecute Erap,we believe that Erap is not guilty of what the Government accusation to him.This will be ended soon………
Lacson must prosecute Bedol and all the dis- honest election official.
We are expecting all the Senators to support this “para hindi na dumami ang katulad nila” .Sana wag na nilang patagalin pa to investigate the case….to be able to know who are the people involved sabik na kami malaman kung sino ang mga taong “ganid sa kapangyarihan”
TO OFW IN AFGHANISTAN
I would agree with you when you find it unfortunate when Bert would think all Filipinos are corrupt. There are exceptions of course, and that’s the good news. The bad news is, MOST politicians lied/cheated the country in one way or another with their empty promises.
Your idols Chiz E. and Alan Peter did nothing all those years while they were in Congress from what I read. Didn’t it ever occur to you why they hit the First Family only a few months before the elections? And they chose to run under the GO banner if they were truly anti-corrupt instead of running as Independents?
To: OFW in Afghanistan:
Now, at last, I can see a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel. Finally! Now, here is a person admitting being a saint, thank heavens. Please show your name, Sir, we would very much like to know you more. After all, being a saint is an admirable trait, and worthy to be proud of, come forward and let us see if we could emulate your pure character. I am not a saint, therefore I am corrupt, and that’s because I might do what the policeman and the husbanda might do. In response to your comments, it’s not correct to say that I am indifferent to all those corruption. I am as angry and disturb as you are, the exact reason why I am blogging my fingers red in all these bloggers site like you do. Show your name, Sir, I don’t want to call you ’sir’ all the time. And pardon my irritating style of writing, most times I’m like that. If you are going to be affected by my style, please don’t, it’s not my intention. I really admire people of your kind who exert effort to be a good citizen. On the contrary, I hate the other kind. Here I go again. Are you really a saint, Sir? You did not answer my two questions in my previous blogs about the policeman and the husbanda, so I’ll repeat. If you are the husbanda, and your wife is the president, and millions are pouring in your lap like tap water, and there is no Lacson in sight, would you still like to be a saint? Yes? Then the Philippines has some hope yet.
I’m not pro-Arroyo and I’m not demolishing Lacson. I based my views on what he has acted since Erap’s tenure. First, he said he was not a politician, he hated politics then look at where is he now. Second, his moves are so discreet that not everybody, especially like you, would have noticed what his real motives are. His aim is the presidency since Erap was ejected (remember that he too withdrew his support of Erap at the height of EDSA 2) no matter what or how it takes. That’s dangerous especially with him who was not only a former military man in the hands of Marcos but now a politician. As a Senator, yes he has filed a lot of bills that concern national interests but remember any of them came into law? He may be a good orator in front of the press (one reason he is loved by them) but not enough to convince his colleagues in the Senate. Legislation must be his prime duty, not press conferences, not inquiries in aid-of-legislation (a.k.a in-aid-of-campaign), not prosecution. Is he really fighting corruption for Filipinos, or for his own media mileage? If he is really true fighting graft then he should start with the PNP. No, not with “kotong cops, nor with carnapped cars that were used personally by policeman, these are too superficial (barya-barya lang yan). Start with the purchasing of uniforms, guns, hand cuffs, office supplies, etc. which run as high as Php 5 Million in kickbacks (I may be conservative of the amount). When did these issues come into news? Hidden from our eyes but he knows that being a former PNP chief.
You see, the problem with Filipinos is that they base their stance and position only on what appear in media and on what politicians say, not on how they act and react and good research on the background. Mind you, Mike Arroyo is not the only corrupt personality in front of you. Lacson, Cayetano and Escudero are among the others who are just hiding behind this big guy. Yes, they may have exposed a little bit of Mike’s corruption but, my gosh, that doesn’t make them holy and righteous. I do not know them personally but the way they acted (especially taking sides with Erap for financial support), I couldn’t trust them with my vote. No matter how they hide it, their garbage stinks.
Fr: Salina
The only garbage stinks I know is Gloria Arroyo! I had enough with her bullshit. Its time to get rid of her. Its overdue! DITCH HER OUT. PRONTO!!!
Well, unfortunately, Clipmaster, that is how democracy works. Now, should that stop you from voting the right person? Absolutely not. Those we think that are deserving of our votes lose over those that make unfulfilled promises. It is our duty to remind these people of their promises and deliver. If we stop reminding them, pushing them to deliver their promises, then, I agree, we are the biggest loser.
Dr. Henry 4
Lacson is not a politician and he indeed hates politics but it does not follow that he has bad motives. He has to withdraw his support from Erap during EDSA 2 because he thought that is the right thing to do at that time. Because he is a military man turned into politician does not follow that he cannot be a responsible Filipino. He has filed a lot of bills, a hardworking senator, no nonsense when he views his ideas. Contrary to your claim, he is not a good orator. In fact, he can be boring at times but I think what makes him different is because he speaks with all candidness and is not afraid to unveil his soul to the public. You cannot fight corruption from where you sit, Dr. Henry 4. The fact that Lacson does is a great relief for me. He once got into trouble because he tried to fight it within the military. He knows what he is talking about.
I do not think the likes of Cayetano, Escudero and Lacson are holy. They have their own shades of weaknesses. In my eyes, these are overshadowed by their courage to let people know what is wrong with the current system. The man walks the talk, that is what is important to me.
Your comments are somewhat defeatist. I am never ‘kawawa’ nor ‘magtitiis sa mga politicong manloloko’. This is the reason I say what I want to say. I do not want them to think that they can continue to fool us. There are people around them that are capable of seeing what they are up to. Serve the people
I do not think that we are quarelling, we are expressing our views which happened to be different and I like that and we should learn how to encourage multiple views. I support your idea of leaving the prosecution of Erap in the Courts and they have to do this fast.
Bert and Gerry
Bert, I feel sad that you do not seem to be bothered by corruption in your midst. As if, it is just the way life should be. If this is how all Filipinos would think, then, it is the end of the line for all of us. Thanks, Gerry for showing us how endemic this problem of graft and corruption is happening in our society. The proportion has never been before this high. What does this tell us about the leadership?
Bert, how can you say that everybody, all Filipinos are corrupt… and we should accept this fact? I cannot for the life of me, understand your argument. You do not even know me and all others around you who are trying hard to fight graft and corruption. Despite how difficult it is. Let me tell you, how I fight it in my own small ways. I go to the government office to get my cedula at 8:00 am. No one is there to attend to me. I wait 5 minutes, 15 minutes and nada! I asked in my own sweetest ways the person inside why they are not entertaining people who want to get their cedula. The response: the person responsible has not arrived yet. I asked why, it is past 8:00 am, as a government employee they should report to work on time. The person says, he would be coming. These are incidents, that I do not let pass by. I tell all people, all those in line and those inside the office that government employees have the responsibility to come on time because we pay for their salaries. The government deducts almost 30% of my salary for taxes and the amount is no joke. I deserve to be served in the most efficient and effective means possible.
It is sad, in most cases no one dares to speak. I do. No one seems to be angered by the brazenness of it all. I am.. very angry, in fact. Lacson dares to speak and people who wants to tolerate graft and corruption are not happy with that.
Bert, I do hope that one day, all this graft and corruption will also anger you and not just accept it as it is!
Geez people… Get it right for once!!! Despite all the Powerpoint presentations and “investigations” to the contrary, THE SENATE CANNOT PROSECUTE ERAP. Do you REALLY want actors acting as your judge and lawyer?? The whole “investigation in aid of legislation” was pathetic, because no legislation was crafted, and instead it was a show-trial using EXISTING legislation. Millions of pesos were wasted, important legislation was delayed, all for only one purpose: To make GMA look bad, and the Philippines a laughingstock on the international stage. And here’s a clue: It was not GMA that was the laughingstock, it was the senate, because everyone with more than one braincell knows the senate has no power to prosecute, and that the whole show was just grandstanding for the press.
As for Erap? What the heck is he still doing in his vacation home? He should be rotting in jail with the masa!!! How many of the “masa” can visit their ailing mother, host birthday bashes or stay in an airconditioned vacation house on TAXPAYER MONEY???
Erap was NEVER POOR. He has no idea what it’s like to be one of the “masa”.
Hi, to all you bloggermates, even as we quarrel, let’s all be friends, ok? Now this: Everybody seem to be feeling an expert on corruption,except me, hehehe. I think that saint is a myth, therefore I’m no saint. Erap is corrupt, also Gloria and husbanda, also Lacson, also Chavit, also Marcos, also you bloggers, also me, hehehe. That means everybody, no exception. The driver hate the policeman because he kotong him, Gloria haters hate her because of husbanda, so on and so forth. Let me ask you, bloggermates, some questions. If you are in the shoes of the policeman, and you have one or two wives, will you decline the P100 from the jeepney driver? If you are the husbanda, and your wife is the president, are you going to decline the offers? Ahah, I caught you there, I know your answers! Your answers are ‘YES’. See? That’s why I feel like a saint. I feel like a saint because I want to be honest as possible. I’m honest because I admit I might do what the policeman and the husbanda might do. Am I corrupt? Of course I am. But not too much, and not too brazen, hehehehehe.
From: Gerry
For so long as there is NO accountability and for so long as crooks are NOT punished, corruption will continue to be unabated in our country. And mind you, its not only in Government. Victorias Milling Company in Negros- Asia’s biggest Sugar Mill went bankrupt to the tune of 6 billion pesos due to corruption. What mind boggling is this: The owners and directors were all Harvard, Oxford trained. And they had all the tools to setup provisions to monitor the company. But in the end the mid level managers in cahoots with the workers below began the looting which led to the company’s downfall. The sad part is this: to this day NOT one of the culprits have been put to jail. Most are now living in the US enjoying the billions they stole.
Now imagine the scenario in GOVERNMENT were most appointees are political?
Without accountability, conviction and the Death Penalty for thieves it will still be the same: from the lowly tao, policeman up the the higher levels in Govt.
Nag-away-away na kayong lahat dito nang hindi dapat. Why?
The Topic/Question “Will Lacson Prosecute Erap?” itself is defective and very wrong.
As I’ve said in my first comment,
The Constitution says that LACSON as a senator in our Senate CAN NOT, SHOULD NOT, and MUST NOT prosecute ERAP (Erap’s case) or somebody else’s because the SENATE/SENATOR IS NOT THE PROSECUTION ARM of the government.
The Constitution laid upon the the EXECUTIVE branch of our government as one of its function: TO PROSECUTE CASES through the State Prosecution Service of the DOJ. Thereby, it is laid upon Gloria’s shoulder to prosecute cases being the thief, este… chief executive.
DI PA BA MALINAW YAN???
Let’s stop the argumentation here because there is no point of argument to start with.
Second, let’s leave the Courts to do its job.
Third, leave LACSON to prove himself as a a senator as he has proven himself when he was the PNP chief.
Fourth, the Filipino electorate has spoken. They voted whom they wanted and they picked more from the opposition Senatorial candidates. LET’S RESPECT THEIR VOICES/VOTES.
PEACE AND GOD BLESS US ALL!
Lacson must prosecute first the corruption and anomalies of the Arroyo administration as Erap still waiting the verdict of the Sandigan Bayan kuno! we hope the leadership and the advocacy of Sen. This is amazing! One of the few blogposts that has generated this much attention in a very short period of time. What it tells me is how interesting Panfilo Lacson can be and he seems capable of generating strong opinions. Overall, it seems positive for Ping.
Dr. Henry 4
I would not listen to Tulfo’s accusation, he is most often beyond reason. Besides, there are things that we do not know between the two of them that have caused Tulfo’s ire. I think it is about principles in which Lacson stood his ground. When media focused on Lacson, it is not because he asked for it. It is because he is saying something that makes sense to most of us, that is what media saw. Mike Arroyo is so happy about views people like you hold because your view is one of the proofs that he has succeeded in demolishing Lacson. He tried the same trick with Cayetano but he cannot find anything on the man so he tried using his power to ask the Ethics Committee to suspend Cayetano. He and his men did the same thing to Lacson. Yes, he is fighting corruption, that is his advocacy. Are you not glad that somebody is taking on that fight? We all know that the root of most of our problems is graft and corruption but no one has dared to take that problem head on, only Ping in his lonesome has the guts to do so. Cayetano, Escudero and Ping, they are taking the path that most of our politicians won’t dare to tread. They would prefer to be on the safe side. This path they are taking takes a lot of courage, a lot of risk and a lot of support from people like us.
Julio
Rather than telling us that Lacson is a hypocrite, I would rather prefer that you tell us what makes him a hypocrite that will be much more useful in this discourse. Being associated with a ‘magnanakaw’ does not make one a ‘magnanakaw’. Besides, Erap has to be tried by the court. Let the courts judge him. Let both sides produce the evidence. Serve the People is right, let us leave it to the Court.
Thank you for quoting Senator Lacson’s exact words. What struck me was the last line, “..But I won’t beg for it nor exchange my vote to get that committee. This is Lacson, he speaks through his heart with all sincerity and that is what we are thirsting for right now, a leader who can stand his ground and stick to the truth.
I voted for Lacson because of his being firm on his principle. He may not be perfect at least he is doing his best for the people .
Better to have a leader who could not be perfect in his dedication to serve the people than to have a leader who is pliant like a bamboo.
i agree with clipmaster….everything is telenovela!…mahilig kasi tayong mga pinoy sa telenovela, kaya yumayaman nalang abs-cbn at gma7! before blaming the politicians, let us blame ourselves!tayo ang nagluklok sa kani kanilang puwesto!pinaiikutan lang tayo ng mga yan…administrasyon man o oposisyon!kita ninyo, puro rigodon lang sila, lipatan ng lipatan ng partido!kamay na bakal ang kailangan sa atin..ung seryoso, tapat, matador!,,kumakatay ng taong nagkasala!tingnan mo ngayon, sabi nila ang lakas ng piso!…pero bakit mataas pa rin ang bilihin?pati gasolina!hindi totoo yan…mahina lang ang dollar kaya ganun!kita nyo worried ang central bank dahil mabilis daw masyado pagtaas ng piso!wala silang control because it has nothing to do with our economy!nagkataon lng na weak ang dollar.financial guys of gma should tell us straight.what happened to the evat?saan napupunta yun?
my point is, politics is good!..but politicians make it dirty!..we make politicians….so we are to be blamed!
sana ang pilipino magbago na ng attitude, buksan ang mga mata sa mga pulitiko na malilinis talaga…kahit konti lng mga ito…gaya nina mar roxas,juan flavier,……wala na yata akong maisip! ang hirap..konti na lang talaga..we all should wake up and dont be carried away by “LIARS”, saan man sila naroon administasyon or oposisyon!..kawawa mga anak at apo natin…kung isipin napakahirap mangyari, pero kung kikilos tayo, walang imposible!
tungkol naman ke ping, recall nyo mga sinabi ni mon tulfo. kung totoo lahat yun…nakakatakot!sabi nga ng isang mataas na rank sa military na nakausap ko, pag si ping daw naging presidente, marami ng mamumundok at tatakbo sa ibang bansa. hindi ko alam kung bakit sinabi nya yun…kayo na ang magisip!
What has Lacson got to do with prosecuting Erap? As a whole, you don’t know what you are talking about!
June 6th, 2007 at 2:06 pm
Maskit man tanggapin pero d2 pa rin natin nakikita na ang Pilipino ay may ugaling makasarili at sakim sa kapangyarihan. Kasi kung ang mga leader natin ay pumuwesto para sa sambayanan I’m sure na nagkasundo na sila pero unti now nag-aaway parin KASI bawat isa may pansariling hangarin. Yon ang dapat nating baguhin na ang Pinoy ay dapat mag-kaisa para sa ikabubuti. Hanggat d naayos ito wala tayong aasahan na maunlad na Pinas pagdating ng panahon.
sick and tired of this erap/gloria polarity as if we try to imitate the british tudor/tory divide. we don’t have the class! tsk! tsk!
let’s at least kill each other for something better than personalities who represent almost identical, albeit clothed differently, set of values. their only true divide is their conflicting interest for power.
June 6th, 2007 at 1:46 pm
hay naku kayo talaga nakakainis na huh? lolz.
For one, let us give LACSON benefit of the doubts. He deserves it diba? lalo pa at he is working very hard as our Senator. If he wants to head the powerful blue ribbon committee to investigate tons of anomalies sa gobyernong ito, so be it! hayaan nating gawin nya ang kanyang trabaho.
Besides marami nang napatunayan si Lacson as police, general at hepe ng PNP. Bakit ba hindi natin makita yun, i wonder why? O eh di ba nga sangkatutak na kaso at bintang ang ibinato ng gobyerno sa kanya, pero ano nangayari? WALA! pinalut lahat sa kankungan ang mga kaso nya lalo na ang kuratong baleleng case hmpt.
Ewan ko ba naman at hindi ko maintindihan, kung sino yung labis na nagtatrabaho sa gobyerno ng maayos at malinis (na hindi na nga tinatanggap ang kanyang pork achuchu) eh siya pang ayaw na ayaw ninyo hehehehe. Malay naman natin etong si Lacson at mga katangian nya bilang isang magiting, matapang at mahusay na politiko ang matagal na nating hinahanap. Besides kung sakaling mamuno’t naging ALA MARCOS siya eh di ba nga sanay na naman tayo sa pag gawa ng EDSA eklabu! so ayun me venue tayo para patalsikin siya.
Ang nakakainis alam nyo ay ito. Si Erap naipakulong ng hindi pa malinaw kung me kasalanan o wala. Samantalang si GMA nag “I AM SORRY” speech na and to the point na inamin nya sa madlang pipol ang kanyang kasalanan over sa last election, MARAMI pa rin (specially yung kampi sa kanya) ang WALA LANG! ok go. Lead mo ang country eh MATALINO ka naman eh. Bakit ganun? sadya bang mahina ang kokote ng karamihan sa pinoy (lalo na yung mga pro GMA)?
Hehehehehe….wag masyadong bayolente sa pag rereak ok. Bato bato sa langit ang tamaan wag magagalit.
The politicians are really causing division among us. Look at all these bloggers, depending and criticizing the man with half informations. Some dont even know what they are talking about. We, Filipinos deserve what we have right now because we always believe in “tsismis”. Whatever the papers or the media say we all believe without really seeking the truth. No offense, but some in the media can be bought and unless the media can cleanse itself then people should not rely on this medium alone. People should seek the truth by themselves. If we cannot do that then we are deserving of what we have right now. We Filipinos comprises of, sad to say, bungangeros, tsismosos, walang pakialams, mang oonses, walang alams, suwapangs at marami pang iba. So, what can we expect? Ha! Unless one “messiah” will lead us to the path to change then we will be stocked with the same conditions over and over again. What we need is a leader who can change our attitudes, a no nonsense leader who can suppress all of the above mentioned Filipino mentality or should I say Spanish or Chinese or Americans, ahh whatever!!!! We need a leader who people will be afraid of when they are thinking of doing harm to others. We need a leader who will make us all responsible for all our actions. So please, instead of making unfounded accusations please look for the signs. Gamitin natin ang ating mga utak hindi para lamang for the sake of commenting or manira or pumuri. Please dig deeper!!! MAY GOD BLESS US FILIPINOS!!!!
June 6th, 2007 at 12:49 pm
I really should not comment since I think that the article is really for media
consumption.Mr. Lacson has been a very
astute manipulator of public opinion and
the media is willing to go along if it will
make headlines which means money.This is not the Inquirer I used to
read and patronized years ago.It is now
just like the other print and media companies that are a dime a dozen proli
ferates nowadays making the headlines
by criticizing the govt. endlessly.And making money and gaining popularity at
the same time too.I hope this paper will
someday be back again to its former self presenting mostly the truth and enlightening the public and not just a broadcast forum for partisan politics.
June 6th, 2007 at 12:37 pm
The senate legislates and the courts prosecute! Should Lacson be a senator, don’t expect him to prosecute, leave the prosecution to the courts where they are good at. We are just awaiting the verdict on Erap’s plunder case. We’ve witnessed the Senate investigation which divided the nation to the pro and the anti. Now that it is in the courts, leave it up for them to prove whether Erap is guilty beyond reasonable doubt or otherwise. Once it is decided, that’s it. That is how democracy should work. Let’s be patient and wait.
June 6th, 2007 at 12:35 pm
I say we should pry the layers of secrecy from our government. Thats the only way to clean up government. Lacson is not exemplary in transparency. We have to remind him that the walls have eyes and ears. They cannot hide from the people.
June 6th, 2007 at 12:20 pm
Ang tutuo, dapat palayain na si ERAP.Mamamayang Pilipino na ang humusga.Nakita na ninyo ang isang testigo laban kay Erap, si CHAVIT”puro sabit”, ibinoto ba ng tao?Ibig sabihin naniniwala ang tao kay Erap kaysa sa mga nagpakulong sa kanya…
Answer to the Question? Most likely NO.
Now Erap, Case, well lets just for the verdict to come up, I believe folks are just waiting for it, Now before I go any further I want to say I don’t have a dog in this fight, Now if you ask my personal opinion, I believe in the eyes of many, simple Majority Erap has been vindicated as a result of Senatorial Election of which His Team GO pretty much demolished the TU bet of Recto, Zubiri, Pichay, Defensor, Agaist, Cayetano, Escudero, Trillianes, Koko Pimentel, I’m not counting Aquino, Legarda, Lacson, Villar because they have thier own followers, and Specially Noynoy Aquino, Her Mother of course still have the respect of many Pilipinos,Now for Angara and Arroyo, They are too a season politician, witty politician, and Being a Team Unity did nor hurt them as much, Well in Recto case, I guess when you go agaist the grain and comeback it will hurt you. Thats why Kiko Pangilinan end up in Magic 12, well many said there is a Mega factor, I personnaly don’t think so, I think more of Drillon factor, as well as Noynoy Aquino Liberal Party should get credits. Now lets go back to Erap, As I said all along majority of Pilipinos see Erap as still thier somewhat Liberator or Champion of the poor, Look folks, Jingoy in the Senate, JV still mayor of San Juan and could have been a elected as Senator, if only Erap did not ask His Son to defer or backoff He would have made it in Magic 12, based on his standing in the POLL Survey, Now the only thing left to do is watch the Court decission as far as the Public goes Erap is not guilty by Majority if we follow the results of Senatorial Election, Look most of the folks He endorse won, Like Senator Mayor Elect LIm of Manila, Pee Wee of Pasay, JV of San Juan, Mayor Binay of Makati, Now LIM, Binay, Pee Wee are all very educated and got elected all did call for Erap release, that to include outgoing Mayor Atienza, so many Prominent personality are asking for HIs release from detention or simply send him home for House Arrest so he can be with His Ailing Mother of more 100 yrs old, Now folks lets face it How many of would have a chance with more than a 100 yrs old Mother, Both my parents and Older Brother have seen passed away, and I’m only 52 yrs old, as the younger of seven sibling, yes my Sister and Brother died when they were young age. Now Answer that for a change, again I don’t have a Dog in this fight, But Erap should be place on House arrest to be with His Ailing Mother of more 100 yrs Old… Give the man His Freedom and Respect, Because I do…. Yes He is my Idol….But I’m willing to accept the verdict as long as it is fair…..Have great Day,,, It will be nice to Free Erap for our coming Independence Day… that would be great… set Aside Politics Just Simply Free Erap..
I’m sure He was not lying when He said He was offered a Chance to move to another Country.. and He flatly rejected the Idea…. H should be admired not Jailed….
Good Day
They’re not going to free Erap, Just because of his 100 years old mother. Erap should not be in jail to begin with. If these judges doing their job they suppose too Erap already free. But, These corrupt judges are only toeying the line order from Malacanyang Palace. If this is not a corrupt justice system I don’t know what is.
Its time to overhaul the entire corrupt justice system. Its time to overhaul the entire government office’s. This is not the type of people we need setting in government office’s. We need somebody who respect the rule of law;.
June 6th, 2007 at 11:18 am
To Chatter:
Erap was given and still being given the chance to prove himself in Sandiganbayan. His lawyers are the culprits, and hence himself, for the long delay of his verdict. Of course, he can afford to delay since he stays in a resthouse (take note, a vacation house) which the government (and hence Filipinos) pays the amenities so he can afford 24 hours aircon and lights. This is a rich man charged with plunder and economic sabotage. While a poor Filipino, charged only of snatching is staying in a prison not even 10 persons can accommodate, less food and endangering himself of tuberculosis. Where is justice in that?
And well I can see that you are one of the fanatics. Don’t play blind. The whole country saw the impeachment trial and how the real GDP dived during his times (thanks for the manipulation of his “economic advisers like Zamora), how the stock prices were manipulated, how the jueteng flourished, Velarde account, Muslim foundation brouhaha etc. And I can’t simply believe that they were committed only during his 3-year tenure. The foundation started when he was still Mayor of San Juan, then as a Senator, and Vice President. There were crimes committed actually even during his term as head of PACC unknown to the public. Speaking of justice, he actually deserves less of what he is enjoying right now.
I advise that you may need to revise your mind and review the flow of your thoughts which doesn’t seem to connect with what your real position is.
Tama ka Danilo. Pero may dahilan kung bakit ganoon. Alam ni GMA na namimiligro siya sa kapangyarihan ng tao na mismong lumuklok sa kanya sa Malacanang. Diyan magaling si GMA. Alam niya kung kailan na malapit bumigay ang tao. Tulad ng kay Binay. Si Trinidad eh kinaya niya pero natakot siya kay Binay. Tulad ng Cha-Cha. Yung kay Trillanes. Tulad ng gamit niya sa Militar at pulis. Kung baga sa hinete, magaling si GMA humila ng renda ng kapangyarihan.
And bakasyon ni Erap ay para kay GMA. Alam niya na kaya siyang pataubin ng hatak ni Erap pag nagkamali siya. Hindi niya binibigyan si Erap ng pagkakataon para dito.
Lacson? Erap? Parang GMA at Defensor yan.
Ang katotohanan ay magaling si GMA rumenda sa atin lahat. Sa Hustisya, Senado, Kongreso, Pulis, Militar, Oposisyon, Dayuhan, at mamamayan. Sana lang yung galing niya ay lagyan niya ng makatotohanan at maka Diyos na pakay. Puro kasi pagnanakaw sa gubyerno niya. Hindi ko naman sinasabi na presidente siya ng mga magnanakaw.
June 6th, 2007 at 10:56 am
We can never move on until questions about GMA’s legitimacy as well as Erap’s plunder trial will be answered and hopefully put to justice. This is the same reason why the political bickering has morphed at the extent that we are seeing today.
The fact that we are giving different opinions means we need an answer on these pending questions. I hope that the newly elected GO senators will answer this as well. What is legislation when these laws will still be bent and render exceptions for those who are powerful?
I am hoping that they will resolve these questions through the legal process and not for media mileage.
Itong gawin natin ha? Work for quiet, not peace. Peace is impossible kasi sobrang lalim na mga hidwaan. Also, lahat naman ng politicians natin imperfect, lahat pinagdududahan na nagnakaw o nagkickback o nagterrorize. O, kaya mo bang iprosecute sila o baguhin ang sistema? Realistically hindi? Ganito na lang, let’s all work toward and support a government that can create quiet and stability (similar or better than the quiet we had during FVR). Stability leads to great economic success. Given stability, it is the Philippines’ time to shine, kasi ang mundo ngayon pinakahit and outsourcing, at tayo’y hari ng outsourcing! When we become rich, we become more educated, more sophisticated, and more knowledgeable of abstract concepts like democracy, equality, transparency and accountability. This is when we change the system, when the greater majority are middle class and intelligent. Ngayon, the majority are poor and dumb and afraid, so no matter what you do it will only get ruined kasi the masa will elect into office artista/drama types who will just entertain them out of their hunger and boredom. I don’t care if Ping will prosecute Estrada, Ping can release Estrada for all I care, so long as he does all that’s necessary to shut noisy people up. With quiet and stability, we will get rich. We will be able to better educate the next generation. It is the next generation who will take care of ending trapo/soap/artista politics in our country. Singapore was very restrictive when its people were still poor, stupid and undisciplined. They just loosened up, now even took casinos out of a decades-long ban, when its people became rich, intelligent and mentally ready for a modern society ruled by equitable laws.
This I really want to see. I want to find out if he and the majority senators are really serious in getting rid of corruption in public service per se or they are simply after those people who have opposing views and interests. He should be resolute, fair and objective in exposing anomalies commited by friends and foes alike. Otherwise, everything would be in vain and unjust. Let the axe fall where it should be. Kapag corrupt ang hustisya di dapat kukurap…
June 6th, 2007 at 9:31 am
My fearless forecast: Lacson will NOT prosecute Erap or his cronies. Why? He will need Erap’s help to convince his senators to vote for him when he takes on Villar as Senate president. The blue-ribbon-committee is just a fallback to his real goal: the Senate Presidency. If not the first time, during the course of his term. As Senate President he will have due advantage over the others when he runs for President in 2010. Question is will the others: Villar, Loren, Pimentel, Roxas allow that? But that can be another topic for another thread.
If Erap is guilty of any wrong doing then they should let the impeachment trial to be finish so that the whole truth will come out. But, Truth of the matter is they still don’t have solid evidence against him up to date. In fact the record show he is not guilty of any wrong doing. Therefore he should be free. He should not even be in jail. Gloria Arroyo, Et al. They one should be in jail. I hope Capt. Trillaness will succeed on kicken her ass out. The filipino people had enough of her bullshit. I’LL SAY, DITCH HER OUT. ITS OVER DUE!
How about Atong Ang best friend of Erap? iba na talaga pag may pera mabilis lumaya. Is there any compromise for his out of jail? It show that our justice system, pag may pera, lalaya ka! pag wala kawawa ka! habang buhay kang naka kulong. Sample Erap, malayaang nakapaglalaro sa kanyang bahay bakasyunan. Ano-ano pa bang ebidensya dapat hanapin? lantaran nga eh. pera pera lang ang katarungan. Justice delay, Justice looking money. Kaya nga si Erap tumatawa lang, habang nakakulong lalong sumisikat. Biruin sang battalion ang guardya, pag aalis parang hari bawat daanan may AFP nakabantay, daig pa nga ang presidente eh, magpapaopera lang, gusto pa sa ibang bansa. Sarap…. ng may pera galing sa kurakot pati gobyerno tinuturotot.
June 6th, 2007 at 8:00 am
Let’s continue with the governing of the country. Finish up the trial of Estrada. It has been soooo long ago, delayed justice is injustice itself. Then go after all those allegations of corruptions through oversight hearing in the Senate, for which the senate was created for…look at the Constitution, it is one of their jobs. It is not easy dangkasi dapat nila munang pag-aralan kung ano ang mga pinag-kakasuhan. Then, get rid of that presidenta daw who to this day is exercising the power of the president without authority from the Filipino people. At saka kelangan ng mga kabataan meron silang model for honesty at good leadership. Mga uto lang ang naniniwala sa mga sinungaling.
June 6th, 2007 at 7:31 am
The opposition senators now, including Lacson, cannot claim impartiality because from Day 1 of their campaign, they are under Erap’s charm.
June 6th, 2007 at 6:30 am
No one can divine as to what Lacson will do to the case of Erap, if ever the former heads the blue-ribbon committee. But, as for Erap, I think there was more injustice to the system committed than to the case of Erap, in a sense that our system of justice was adulterated by the influential few to prosecute Erap whom they believe was an imminent threat to their unscrupulous activities. Erap should have been freed and cleared of plunder case long time ago. Instead, La Gloria and Manong Tobacco should be in jail.
Well, Lacson, unless he remains unrepentant of his dubious heart for being the center of many unpopular cases such as the KURATONG, should take serious step to overhaul our way of administering justice and to ensure a sweeping action, unprecedented it may be, to free Erap.
I am neither from the left wing nor from the right, but, I so believe it is fair enough to release Erap, who, for so long now, is not convicted of the crime yet that he was charged of, and if he is really guilty of what was charge, then justice must be dispensed without further delay, thereby keeping our faith alive in the system we so embrace based on true democratic principles.
Yielding for further delay would only aggravate the injustice the authors injure to the justice system. It’s like adding more power to the ruthless!
June 6th, 2007 at 3:56 am
Mr. Clean, as one columnist says of Panfilo Lacson. He will do everything, but clean, just to be President, a skill he learned from Marcos. That’s in his mind and in his heart. Very cunning and fine moves. Only a keen observer would know his intentions. If Tulfo’s accusations are true (but there’s a small dirt in the glass), Lacson is dangerous. What is really his objective in aiming the presidency? For his own, for the country, or both? His dark past during the Marcos’ years and his friendship with Erap are conditions that make his good intentions dubious.
One could follow his thirst for media exposure, grabbing every controversial issue at hand, even making non-essential issues controversial ones by presenting decoys like Ador Mawanay (remember him?) Now media eulogize him for the “scoops that he reveals, and to reciprocate him, a fine image he was made, so fine that his angry face could rarely be seen on TV or on papers, an image of a descent and a gentleman that every lady would adore. He would study carefully his media speeches to be palatable to viewers, with no traces of a trapo. And the people love this image. So astute that made him still a presidentiable even after he lost to GMA in 2004, not even close to FPJ. And he feels that. So now, he wants the Senate blue ribbon committee. His eyes are on 2010 definitely. There’s a big chance right now and he wouldn’t allow this to slip out of his hand. Only three years to go.
Fight corruption, that’s now his political motto. Could this mean he will use Erap as a sacrificial lamb for his ambition knowing that it is quite easy to amass evidences to expose Erap than GMA? That would depend, of course, with the pleasure of Filipinos, information that he would know thru his own secretly funded surveys. Likely, he would continue riding for the meantime, on the issue of never ending telenovela of GMA’s election cheating, but it doesn’t mean he would throw away the option of exposing Erap. There is a strong possibility. This man actually keeps the telenovela attitude of many Filipinos running. I brand him the NEW PHILIPPINE POLITICIAN OF THE 21st Century.
Escudero and Cayetano seem to be following his footsteps. Can anyone see similarities in the way these three politicians play in the arena? And the idiots love the way they play.
Lacson is a hipocrite, he once said politics is bad so he won’t be a politician. He is also an ally of Erap, the real Pinoy (magnanakaw).
Of course not, Iba ang may pinagsamahan, Pag kakampi walang nakikitang masama pero pag kalaban walang nakikitang mabuti. Bumango lang ang G.O. dahil mabaho un kay PGMA pero kung tutuusin pareho lang silang mabaho. Parehas lang nag aakusahan ng plunder un mga plunderers.
The Senate can not prosecute ERAP because THE SENATE is a LEGISLATIVE branch of government. The branch of government that is tasked to prosecute cases is THE EXECUTIVE branch, i.e. the Department of Justice through its PROSECUTORs, a.k.a FISCALS. THE JUDICIARY branch through its COURTS hears the case presented by the PROSECUTORs and then finally makes decison/verdict BASED on the MERITS OF THE CASE. I will say it again, THE SENATE can not prosecute cases be it ERAP’s or be it JUANDELACRUZ’s case. Did I make it CLEAR?
KABAYAN saan ka ba???? kung si SINGSON nga na sinasbing kaibigan ni ERAP at kasama sa mga sinasabing anomalya, BAKIT di isinama na litisin ng GOBYERNO??????
Kung nagbalak si LACSON ng isang COMMITTEE tulad ng Blue Ribbon, sabi nya, ANG MAY KASALANAN LANG ANG DAPAT MATAKOT!!!!!!! at iyan ang dapat po na malaman ng isang tunay na PILIPINO….
gaano kabigat yung salitang iyan…. kahit ako may doubt kay Senador LACSON, pero we have to move forward.. at iyan din ang GUSTO ni Gloria, kahit n may kasalanan sya,,,, WE HAVE TO MOVE FORWARD,,,,,, para matakpan ang kasalanan NILA…………… UUNLAD ANG PINAS NGUNIT DI MAWAWALA ANG kasalanan sa PULITIKA……
Funny thing is our politics, did’nt Lacson withdrew his support on Erap’s government on Edsa 2? Loren was in tears on the impeachment case of Erap? Now they’re both on Erap’s side. Now to prosecute Erap, I dont think so, but who knows…..hehehehe.
what else do you want from Erap? to die? so that finally you will be happy? then what?
Fr dan:
This is just a question on GO’s principles(punish the corrupt politicians).
This is not about the prosecution, if they are serious about their advocacy on corruption, they should start with a good example. Erap was ousted because of EDSA II for the reason of plunder. It will backlash on the people who supported the movement if the case will be dismissed. Anyway, the figures that supported his ouster is now of his side.
The democratic voice of the people that ousted him will be useless.
The opposition goal to get rid of corrupt official well be for nothing if they’re not going to follow the rule of laws;
If President Joseph Estrada, Is guilty of any wrong doing, Why is it they didn’t let the impeachment trial to finish so that the whole truth well come out. Truth of the matter is they don’t have any solid evidence against him up to date. As the record show. And they knows it. This is one of the reason why they just kick him out. So that they can install Gloria Arroyo, In Malacanyang Palace. Because they were saying that only Gloria Arroyo, Can run the country better because she had a doctorate degree in economic. Ha, ha! Its a laugh,…She’s nothing but the biggest LEMON. I’LL SAY, DITCH HER OUT.
i share the writer’s point of view…. obviously ang mga pinoy may maikling memorya, nakalimutan na ang mga kasalanan ni erap. ang mga politiko naman na walang mapala kay GMA gustong ibalik si ERAP. hay naku!
“judge not for you are not to be judged!” plain and simple.
i think what is best for our country is not to always look for each others fault. instead, let us help one another to correct our mistakes/flaws and learn to accept from our hearts defeat.
furthermore, let us stop being too opinionated with many things concerning our country coz these does not help at all. Instead, let us practice PATRIOTISM and NATIONALISM so that our country can MOVE ON to the RIGHT status we should have long time ago.
di pa ba kayo napapagod for your never ending bickering?
the new senate will not have a chance to go after erap. this admin will find erap guilty but readily give him pardon. two birds. anti-erap will be happy that he is convicted. pro-erap will be happy that he is free again.
the speed at which erap was ousted without due process and the delays in coming up with the verdict has diluted some people’s interest in the case.
as an aside: there really is no case against erap. everything the prosecutors are hanging on to are based on hearsay - from one star witness who has selective amnesia and who has a bone to pick against erap because he does not want to legalize jueteng especially in his turf. and don’t bring up jose velarde unless you can prove jose pidal.
There is no question about prosecuting Erap. People have already prosecuted him by removing him from Malacañang.
Why do you need to prosecute only Erap where everybody in the government are doing corruption. Do you want to know? Look around you. It’s a street thing you know. It’s all around us.
And because we are all GREEDY people. Filipinos are GREEDY, SELFISH, and most of all SELF-CENTERED. Including Me? I hope not!!!
I hope we will realize that we need to do something.
you are obviously a GMA fan because you are raising a very irrelevant question. Why? Because Erap’s case is already been prosecuted and due for resolution.
Erap, Should not even be in jail. It should resolve it a long time ago. The only reason he’s getting rotten in jail because Gloria Arroyo, Make sure that he won’t be able to get his title back that is belong to him.
Gloria Arroyo, Et al. The one should be in jail for what they have done. Not Erap!
If Erap really guilty of any crime they should let the impeachment trial to finish so that the whole truth well come out. But, They didn’t because they knows they don’t have solid evidence against him. As the record show. Why is it he is still rotten in jail. While the THIEF GLORIA ARROYO, THE ONE RUNNING THE COUNTRY. THERE IS ENOUGH EVIDENCE AGAINST HER. THROW HER ASS IN JAIL WHERE SHE BELONG.
Lacson has always been for Lacson and only Lacson. He will use others even friends for his own interest. He used ERAP and now as he is positioning himself for the presidency in 2010.
His STUPIDITY was made obvious when he REFUSED to run as Vice President for FPJ. Even with the DAYA of GMA in Mindanao, if Lacson had run as president, the 3M votes he would have given FPJ would be more than enough to cover up all the cheating of GMA in Mindanao.
If FPJ had won and died, Lacson would have been PRESIDENT!
He is so stupid he refuses to “read the times” so to speak and MISCALCULATES events, etc.
And he is only for himself, he will continue to lose, to fall but bring others - the opposition with him as he falls hard.
Will Lacson prosecute Erap?
06/05/07
Posted under Readers’ Blog Posts, Panfilo Lacson
[PANFILO] LACSON wants to head the Senate blue-ribbon committee.
“I want to advance my advocacy of accountability among public officials. If only for it, I want to chair the blue-ribbon committee. But I won’t beg for it nor exchange my vote to get that committee, he said, referring to his vote for Senate president.
Since majority of the Senate is now GO [Genuine Opposition] and they are serious about their anti-corruption drive and putting corrupt public officials in jail, will they prosecute Erap? Or will they go only for administration candidates and their allies?
Lacson, Is the best man for the Blue ribbon committee. I hope he can make a different. viva Ping Lacson.
obviously you dont know what you’re talking about sir.
As far as i know Erap is being tried by the government (and people like you have already PROSECUTED Erap despite of on-going case and i believe the case will prove his innocense.
what else do you want from Erap? to die? so that finally you will be happy? then what?
