Will Lacson prosecute Erap?

[PANFILO] LACSON wants to head the Senate blue-ribbon committee.

“I want to advance my advocacy of accountability among public officials. If only for it, I want to chair the blue-ribbon committee. But I won’t beg for it nor exchange my vote to get that committee,” he said, referring to his vote for Senate president.

Since majority of the Senate is now GO [Genuine Opposition] and they are serious about their anti-corruption drive and putting corrupt public officials in jail, will they prosecute Erap? Or will they go only for administration candidates and their allies?

The opposition senators now, including Lacson, cannot claim impartiality because from Day 1 of their campaign, they are under Erap’s charm.

No one can divine as to what Lacson will do to the case of Erap, if ever the former heads the blue-ribbon committee. But, as for Erap, I think there was more injustice to the system committed than to the case of Erap, in a sense that our system of justice was adulterated by the influential few to prosecute Erap whom they believe was an imminent threat to their unscrupulous activities. Erap should have been freed and cleared of plunder case long time ago. Instead, La Gloria and Manong Tobacco should be in jail.

Well, Lacson, unless he remains unrepentant of his dubious heart for being the center of many unpopular cases such as the KURATONG, should take serious step to overhaul our way of administering justice and to ensure a sweeping action, unprecedented it may be, to free Erap.

I am neither from the left wing nor from the right, but, I so believe it is fair enough to release Erap, who, for so long now, is not convicted of the crime yet that he was charged of, and if he is really guilty of what was charge, then justice must be dispensed without further delay, thereby keeping our faith alive in the system we so embrace based on true democratic principles.
Yielding for further delay would only aggravate the injustice the authors injure to the justice system. It’s like adding more power to the ruthless!
