AQUILINO “Koko” Pimentel III has a “long way to go with poll protest,” according to Senator Juan Miguel “Migz” Zubiri.
Here’s an excerpt from the Philippine Daily Inquirer article:
Zubiri, whose 12th-place victory in last year’s senatorial election is being contested by Pimentel, said he was certain of serving the entire six years of his term despite what he termed the “mind-conditioning†by his rival in the ongoing recount of votes being conducted by the Senate Electoral Tribunal (SET).
Zubiri was reacting to Pimentel’s claim that the empty ballot boxes from Sultan Kudarat province negated Zubiri’s 31,000-vote margin in the area, giving Pimentel a 12,000-vote lead over Zubiri in the national tally.
How about you? Who do you think really won?

If the SET takes 2-3 years to resolve the electoral protest, then it is high time and long overdue for the urgent “ABOLITION†of the SET & the inutile, corrupt “COMELEC†!!!
KOKO PIMENTEL clearly, definitely, absolutely won a seat in the 2007 senatorial elections and Migz Zubiri used “GUNS, GOONS & GOLD†to snatch the well deserved and genuine victory of SENATOR KOKO PIMENTEL !!!!

Philippines politic is a joke!
There is already proof that Pimentel, Already won in May 14, 2007. But the comelec taken their sweet time to count the ballots so that when the time they finish counting everything is all over. If thats happen and KOKO, Won. I’ll take Zubiri, To court to collect all the money that is due to KOKO. After all there is solid evidence that KOKO, already won. But, Of course knowing the corrupt justice system we have the crooks can get away with it. The innocent the one rot in jail. Just like Camp. Trillanes & Co.

Election in the Philippines nothing but a joke. It doesn’t matter if the person has been elected to office if the elite’s don’t like that person they’re going to kick him/her out. Just like what they did to President Joseph Estrada.
How can anybody forget for what they did. The edsa dos hypocrites! Because of them the Philippines going down under.

The Senate Electoral Tribunal (SET) will be the only one to say who really won the 12th Senate seat during the 2007 General Elections. However, this recount of votes will take about 2 to 3 years to complete since senators are elected at large, not by geographical area. At the end of the day, Aquilino Pimentel III has two options to have a seat in the Senate. (1) He can continue with the electoral protest until 2010. Probably, he will be vindicated. And, eventually, serve the remaining term of Sen. Juan Miguel Zubiri. But, history tells us that no electoral protest has been resolved in the SET. (2) He can abandon the electoral protest and run for the Senate again in 2010. Probably, if he wins a seat, he will serve a full six-year term as senator until 2016. We might not know what happened in 2007, but he has a good fighting chance to win in the next elections.

Definitely, no questions asks… KOKO PIMENTEL was the 12th SENATOR of the republic last 2004 elections. Whatever happened to his protest, I always believed, he is the sure winner…

It is interesting to note that the Senate Electoral Tribunal as mandated in the constitution under the article 4 section 17 is the proper body to hear electoral protest filed by any losing candidate; history tells that not a single petition has been resolved. Aquilino Pimentel’s III last effort to claim a rightful place in the Senate was to file an electoral protest he now leaves it in the hands of the Senate Electoral Tribunal to decide once and for all. He must be prepared with the long road of proceedings enough to drain his resources and energy but what if he holds is the truth and principles he might eventually see justice never sleeps even if the tribunal declares him the rightful winner only a day before his sitting opponent’s term expires. In the case of the past losing candidates who filed similar electoral protest it proved that long arduous process has taken toll on them either had drained them of their resources or out of fatigue and obviously futile to continue.
What matter most is the reformation of the Senate Electoral Tribunal and not on the subject if he can overturn his opponent’s proclamation. Lack of quorum and other tactical politicking strategies often leads to delays, added to this are the lack of interest of the members of the tribunal to pursue the case.
Among the reforms needed to the Electoral Tribunal are as follows:
An independent non-partisan member should be selected to sit in the Electoral Tribunal
No other duties of the Electoral Tribunal members should be performed outside of it
Reasonable time frame of not more than a year to decide on the case
Reasonable funds to be given to the Electoral Tribunal to carry out it’s duties
If Aquilino Pimentel III loses his case, other avenues that he can do for greater good is to lead the lobbying for the reformation in the Electoral Tribunal. His father is already a current sitting Senator sometimes one is enough out of patriotism and delicadeza.

You call that proper? ha ha. These comelec officer’s are crooks just like Gloria Arroyo, In fact there is solid evidence against them but they’re not in jail where they belong because they control the entire corrupt justice system. Hello, Garci.
