My last request to President Cory Aquino

Posted under 2010 Elections, Cory Aquino

By Harvey S. Keh

With less than 10 months before the 2010 National Elections, it seems that any hope of uniting the reform constituency in our country is becoming slimmer as the days go by. Many of us all believe that without a united reform constituency backing a common Presidential candidate and a common reform slate then we might as well accept that we will have another traditional politician backed by oligarchic interests leading our country from 2010 onwards. Right now, we have overseas Filipinos and local government officials led by Ifugao Gov. Teddy Baguilat, Jr. and Sta. Fe, Nueva Vizcaya Mayor Florante Gerdan who are pushing for the candidacy of Pampanga Gov. Eddie “Among Ed” Panlilio. Just recently, we saw a group of youth leaders from all over the country together with peasant organizations and business leaders calling out to Isabela Gov. Grace Padaca to heed the call to lead our country out of our current state of rampant poverty. It’s a good thing that both Panlilio and Padaca, who along with Naga City Mayor Jesse Robredo are co-founders of Kaya Natin, agreed not to run against each other and that only one of them will eventually run for President. Ang Kapatiran also announced that they will field their own candidate in the person of the youthful Olongapo City Councilor JC Delos Reyes while some environmental groups have declared their support for Nicky Perlas. Evangelist Bro. Eddie Villanueva, who lost badly in the last 2004 polls is also contemplating to make another run backed by his rejuvenated and reloaded Bangon Pilipinas Party. Add to this growing number is the fact that although some groups do not consider him a reform candidate, the Liberal Party’s Senator Mar Roxas is currently backed by highly-reputable civil society leaders such as former Department of Education Secretary Butch Abad, former Peace Process Adviser Ging Deles, former Department of Agrarian Reform Undersecretary Gerry Bulatao and AKBAYAN’s Joel Rocamora.

Imagine if all of these groups can come together, set aside their personal differences, work towards a common vision for a better Philippines and eventually field a common slate for the 2010 elections then I would think we can have a strong fighting chance of finally electing effective, ethical and empowering government leaders for our country. Similar to the situation that we found ourselves in 1986, we find that many of our democratic institutions even the recent giving of the National Artist Awards have been bastardized by this administration. Similar to 1986, the 2010 elections will be a battle between those who believe in restoring our democratic processes and those who want to continue to usurp it for their own personal gain. Similar to 1986, we are also faced with the challenge to unite all of these well-meaning groups in order for us to come up with a formidable force that will give this current administration a run for its money in 2010. Similar to 1986, all of these reform groups have to eventually find it in themselves to be humble enough to sacrifice their own beliefs in order for us to unite for a cause that is bigger than all of us. Let us remember that in 1986, the strongest opposition party was Doy Laurel’s UNIDO but eventually for the sake of unity, Laurel agreed to run as Cory Aquino’s running mate. This ultimate sacrifice and act of humility that many have seem to have forgotten led to the bloodless People Power Revolution and the restoration of democracy in our country.

Now as we again draw near the 2010 polls, I hope that the legacy and spirit of President Cory Aquino will again move all these reform groups towards a unified People Power reform ticket in 2010. Two weeks ago, the whole country mourned the loss of Tita Cory, a woman who gave everything until the last moments of her life for the sake of the Filipino people. I hope that we can all find inspiration in the humility and generosity of spirit that she showed when she was still with us. Let her legacy as a true icon of democracy continue to become our rallying point towards the unity that all of us seek.

To Tita Cory, I hope and pray that you will be able to read this one last and final request that we have, please move our hearts so we can set aside our own personal ambitions for the sake of what is good and just for every Filipino. We hope that you will not allow us to put to waste all the sacrifices that you and Ninoy have so gallantly given for each one of us. Rest assured that like you, we will all continue to fight the good fight, finish the race and keep the faith.

I agree with you Mr Harvey Keh, i suggest a P1 per Filipino support for Ed Panlilio especially now, that’s at least 50 million, what more for those who would contribute more, I for one am willing to donate 1,000.00 for Ed Panlilio’s political plan for a start.
More Power!

lakay

i want to contribute PHP 1,000 as well for AMONG ED’s political plan. let me know where will I send my contribution.

Dear Harvey,

I am totally convinced on how you are trying to present the general situation in our country before and after the elections of 2010 regarding your group’s advocacy for change in the event that there would be a failure of unification among all the reformist candidates. The objectives of Kaya Natin are well read and accepted by the Filipino people and they seem to be the same rhetoric that Filipinos often see and hear in the art of persuasive speech writing and public speaking in any election.. I hope this time Filipinos will perceive the goals and the dreams of Kaya Natin differently, the same way as we felt it before when we fielded Cory as a candidate in 1986, but this event of unity among the Filipino people was marked by a great sacrifice by one political great in our history and that is the killing of Ninoy. Had Ninoy went back home successfully in 1983, I would say he could have been the President of the Philippines instead of Cory. Would there be the same people power if he was the one who ran for president to faced Pres. Marcos in an election. if Ninoy could have been alive, can he rally the people the same way the Filipinos showed their anger when he was assassinated. It’s the death of Ninoy that brought all of us together.
Now, my question is, have we done more than enough to bring many Filipinos to condemn the misdeeds of this present regime and rally behind Among Ed or any reformist candidate.
What you miss to foresee is the possible outcome of this recount protest against Among Ed? I’m a native Kapampangan and I am just glad to share to you our experienced in the history of recount protest of past elections in our province.
The first was the recount protest filed by the late Dr. Egmidio Bondoc against Mars Pineda for the congressional seat of the 4th district of Pampanga. But because Dr. Bondoc was a well-moneyed candidate and was able to sustained all the expenses needed in that rigorous counting he won the protest and dislodged Mars Pineda. “Tampered ballots” are a common scene in any protest. The second was the protest filed by Cielo Macapagal when she ran for governor against Governor Bren Guiao in 1992. Believing that there was massive fraud and cheating during that election, she filed a recount protest against the incumbent governor. The protest has ran through for three years until the new election of 1995, but was unsuccessful because of lack of finances.
We are now facing the same predicament for Among Ed, if we have to look at these experiences considering that everything in this world has gone high, the one who is richer prevails.

Cielo Macapagal is well known religious leader of our province and carried the name of his good father Diosdado Macapagal. Had there been the same Kaya Natin during that time, the case could have been resolved.

You have mentioned about ‘tampered ballots’ in one of your postings. In our election laws, as you very well know, tampered ballots are duly considered null and void, and as such they are automatically nullified and should not be counted in favor of any candidate for that matter. They can only be discovered when the ballot boxes are re-open in a protest. Bear in mind also, that Among Ed has no full control over all the ballot boxes in every municipality or wherever they are before this recount took place. They were not completely guarded by his people twenty four hours a day, seven days a week, so to speak.
It is a well planned conspiracy by these people whom I call “the election rigging industry”. By only declaring 1500 ballots from the more than half million votes casted in that election, would be more than enough to declare her opponent as the winner. I would say a wise guess, by showing just 250 tampered ballots in six municipalities of our province like Mabalacat, San Fernando, Magalang, Porac, Candaba, and Angeles City, would be an easy manipulation for this syndicate to favor the candidate they want to win.

If and when the recount is finished, the COMELEC will declare a winner between Pineda and Panlilio. In case of defeat for Panlilio, requiring him to vacate his seat even with a court order cannot be accepted by the majority of the Kapampangans without any form of big resistance. To my view, this drama of recounting will end in a month or two before the May 2010 elections because they would not let the governor priest to hang on to power up to election time.

It is also possible that this mafia would present a different scheme in wiping out the narrow margin of the priest to show to the public that indeed, there was some fraud in this election, but not Panlilio or his supporters having a hand on it. Remember that during this election, the other candidate, incumbent governor Mark Lapid has always considered Pineda as the candidate to win because of her enormous wealth and Panlilio as a no win candidate. Seeing this kind of threat on Pineda using her money… ergo the incumbent candidate has to used all forms of influence to cheat on Pineda and not on Panlilio. Based on the election results of 2007 the votes garnered by Mark Lapid showed him a poor third in this three cornered fight and has no chance to win at all. But the syndicate can make used of Lapid’s votes to eradicate the narrow margin of Panlilio by showing ‘untampered ballots’ that were counted in favor of Mark Lapid instead of Lilia Pineda. Lapid’s votes can be use as an “absorbent” to cover up the lead of Panlilio over Pineda. This is a clean way of skinning a cat, as the saying goes.

How will they let him stay in power until election day when there is a son of a president who suddenly drew an interest for the governorship of Pampanga, when the person who is making the recount protest was identified to be close to the President of the Philippines, and when he is a stumbling block to the reported plan of president who wish to run for Congress to represent the district being held by her son in our province of Pampanga.

As the conspiracy of this manipulation comes to an end in unseating Fr. Panlilio, which I’m sure will trigger a huge political unrest not only in Pampanga, now that he is gaining support from outside the province, an act of “denouement” to appease his supporters by saying ” it’s not Among ED who cheated Lilia Pineda but Mark Lapid”….. It is Mark Lapid.
Will Mark Lapid let himself,. become a scapegoat in this type of demolition job against Father Panlilio. Will he allow himself to be used in this conspiracy? Let’s hear from them when this thing will happen. I hope this will not.
What then, Harvey, if this protest will be unfavorable to the governor? Is it advisable for the priest to ran away from this predicament just to pursue a higher “calling” from God….. I think GOD will have another call on him “Stay put, governor.Don’t leave Pampanga yet, no matter what happens. Don’t be in a hurry.

We need more information of these candidates you mentioned. What are their track record, proof of honesty, love of country, social, political, economic, environmental platforms. This should be translated to simple explanations that ordinary Filipino can make sense of. If we want a principled candidate to win, we must inform.. this is to make ordinary citizens make wise judgment. We have to promote voting decision not on the glamour of showbiz but on who can deliver the leadership of transformation. Our country has a very organized government of corruption. How do we break this institution is the order of the day. The transformation to celebrate the talents of every Filipino and put to good use and betterment of our country should not be stifled anymore. We are as best as any other country in the world.

You know what? We can keep calling for “unity”, a setting aside of “personal differences”, a coming up with “a common vision” for a “better Philippines” ’til we all turn blue. But none of that will happen until we find the wherewithal to hold our candidates to some sort of PUBLISHED platform or vision.

Candidates should be able to show that they have a coherent and carefully thought-through roadmap of how to take the Philippines from A to B within the six years that they will be serving us.

That simple sentence above implies three elements:

- Defining Point A (our current situation);
- Defining Point B (where we want to be); and,
- Plotting the course between the above two points.

In fact I spell out a simple Four-Step-Process for developing such a roadmap here:

http://www.antipinoy.com/roadmapping-101-for-presidential-candidates/

So far I have seen no evidence amongst any particular bunch of politician much less any of our stands-for-nothing political “parties” that such an undertaking is given the appropriate attention.

What does the Philippine “Opposition” offer us other than a position that involves merely replacing the incumbent? Is replacing the incumbent an end in itslf? Or is mapping out WHAT HAPPENS NEXT the whole point of an “opposition”?

Until we as a people become a bit more serious about seeing some evidence of a bit of thinking in our politicians, all we will be getting from them will be empty promises, over-used platitudes, and tired slogans.

jimmy, so ano ngayon ang katayuan sa pampanga? mga macapagal, lapid, pineda and guiao hindi ba sila ang mga nagtutulung-tulong laban kay gobernador panlilio.

harvey, no tita cory will help you and you know that. kung lalaban si gobernador panlilio lumaban at lumantad na siya para hindi na din nagugulo ang mga tao sa kahihintay sa kanya dahil alam naman namin na siya lang ang hindi magkakainteres na mangloko sa mga taong bayan. no more last or special request. lumantad na at lumaban!!!

It seems there is really nothing to look forward to again this coming Election 2010. We can not blame the Trapos anymore because we already know that they are not dependable. All that we have to do is fight them.

But the Reformers who advocate good governance appear not to be firm when they meet the Trapos face to face. We want to fight with them against the Trapos but we are very afraid that once we start the fight that the Reformers will simply end up resorting to guidance from the Almighty and abandon us.

So what is best for us to do? Just let the Trapos continue destroying our government because we do not want to be abandoned by the Reformers. This is not right to do but there is no other option now, isn’t it?

jom

The recount and eventual loss of Panlilio could be a blessing in disguise. Here is the possible scenario.. The recount will show Panlilio losing to Pineda. This will create indignation not only in Pampanga but nationawide. Remember the Comelec computer operators’s walkout in 1986? The massive cheating in the snap election angered the people. So this might be the trigger for Among Ed to be the rallying point, the victim, the underdog. It will be the spark to generate interest in him. I believe that Among Ed’s victory in Pampanga in 2007 was Providential, a miracle. The man is destined for something great. He defied all odds in 2007. He will in 2010.

To: the Filipino People

The election on May 2010 gives us Filipinos an opportunity to reverse the culture of corruption, unethical and immoral conduct, and self-serving antics of our politics. With the death of President Corazon Aquino, who embodied the true meaning of leadership through her selfless love for our people, we are awaken with the crop of politicians and officials running our government — futile, incompetent, corrupt, and to an extent have already lost the moral ascendancy to govern. Our government was created under her (Cory Aquino’s) watch with the purpose of empowering Filipinos through self-determination and democracy. In our current situation, the same cannot be said of our government. Few people determine our fate as a country; with their self-serving means and enriching themselves leaving the rest of our people suffer from poverty, hunger, unemployment and social injustices. This is not the vision of Ninoy and Cory for our nation.

Through the incoming presidential elections, we are once again called to unite and rally around the values of democracy, equality and nationalism. But to whom shall we rally with? Who will be the leader who will be our guide to realize the vision of Ninoy and Cory? With the current slate of presidentiables, you cannot help but be dismayed — we can only choose the lesser evil, just like the previous elections. The Filipino people have the right to be presented with candidates with character and strong values. The fight for the incoming election will be the ideas of Ninoy and Cory against the politics of cronyism, social injustice, corruption and total lack of competence of our officials. It will be democracy versus its fake and corrupted version which we have now.

Fellow Filipinos, I call upon you to petition and urge the son of Cory and Ninoy to continue their unfinished work by being the leader of our country come June 30, 2010. Just like his mother, Senator Benigno Aquino III, popularly called Noynoy, is reluctant to take power. Unlike the current aspirants who view the presidency as a prize and a privilege, I believe that Noynoy, just like his parents, sees power as a way to serve people, to alleviate their suffering, to bring them opportunities so they may realize their full potential. With the opposition so fractured, Noynoy being their candidate would unite them and will lead us to stop the current administration from further destroying our democracy. He will bring dignity back to the Presidency through simplicity, humbleness and by providing inspiration to our people.

I’m calling upon you, my countrymen, to urge Noynoy to run and fight the status quo, and finally bring real change and reforms to our country and society. Please pass this petition and ask your friends and family to sign. Please include a short message to encourage Noynoy to run for the presidency this election.

Sincerely,

The Undersigned

Please stop venerating cory. It sounds like you are praying TO her to intercede. That’s blatant heresy since she is not a saint.

Jim

No to Noynoy!! I’ll go for Grace Padaca, who already proven herself as Governor of Isabela.

As election period draws near the excitement on who will lead the country in 2010 is the biggest puzzle to be solved. The emergence of many aspirants by mere luck or coincidence is now causing a great trouble to the electorates on who is really capable to capture their sacred will.If circumstances permit 2010 Elections will be a battle of many titans and big names in the Presidential ring but this would also cause an imminent danger to the political future of this country wherein the interest of the whole population will be at stake.A country that is deeply divided in ideals and principles is not good for a fragile democracy, it would just add further injury to the now bleeding state of great frustration. If these so called aspirants are really sincere from the bottom of their hearts to make this country great they should assess themselves first if they are really morally and mentally prepared to assume the great responsibility of becoming President without any cloud of doubt that might lead to greater chaos. The deciding factor must not depend alone on the wealth, influence, popularity, intelligence and stature of the aspirant but more on his or her credibility to lead;meaning a person not tainted with controversy and scandals. As what Senator Noynoy declared on his eulogy during his great mother’s funeral, the next president would then again inherit the tremendous problems that would be left by the present administration, and it’s no joke to resolve the 4.3 trillion peso national debt and governing a populace of almost 100 million citizens with scores of economic and social problems. What the country need in 2010 and beyond is a President who in his own sacred duty can spell not just change in the present system but in his capacity to bring the trust of the people in government.A government that is capable enough to rally behind its peoples interest and the moral ascendancy to finally weed out the culture of corruption.Fielding the most capable person is therefore indispensable through unity talk of these so called would be players in the presidential ring that a good fight must be fought for the victory of the Filipino people.

If Joseph Estrada will run i doubt if he is qualified, but there is a great advantage if he become president again, if there will be a another peoples power he knows what to do.

Hi Harvey,

My reactin to your piece. You are right the opposition is disunited. And I belive that come election day all of them will run for the presidency. But let us analize who can best serve the country, the person who is most prepared, the person with the known resources who can match the administration, the person who has ready road map for the prosperity of the country. He is no other than Sen. MAR ROXAS. Comparing hin with all the declared presaidentiable in the opposition, he is that is most winnable. Let us disect them all. Erap Estrada could be high in the pols, but he is noty qualified to run again. Fot sure the Supreme Court will declare him as not qualified. And a Plunderer, NOT AGAIN! Father Ed Panlilio, true he is honest but honesty alone will not bring him to Malacanang. He is not even rating in the surveys. He ha s no known machinery to back his candiday. Father Ed should wake up to reality. He will not win. Bro, Ed Villanueva. He lost in 2004 and hw will surely lose again in 2010. The problem with these religious people is that they are suffering from the messianoc syndrom. He will not win even with his rejuvinazed church. It is better for him to support the strongest opposition candidate. The kapatiran canndidate. These people are aiming for the eutopia. They have to temper their Idaialism with reality. They have to wake up from their dreams. Bro, Mike Velarde, another person suffering the messianicv syndrom who has a very big ego. We have enough of those opelple thay they have the mandte of GOD thats why they are running.

Mar Roxas, has really prepared for 2010. He has (his family) has the reources to match that of the administration or that of Manny Villar. He is well qualified. he is against corruption both in and out of government. He has a ready road map for the prosperity of the Phils. His integrity is intact ( unlike Villar). He has no baggage in his back. And he is rating in the surveys. WHY CAN’T WE SUPPORT HIM and rally behind him. The Black and White Movement has already thrown rtheir support to him. The Liberasl Party of which he is the President will surely back him. It is high time that these declared presidentaibles from the opposition should wake up and throw their support to Sen. Roxas. If we will be united behind him (Roxas) there is no reason that the next president will be an honest and incorruptible president in the person of Roxas. Let us all wqake up from our dreams and face the reality that the person who can best defeat the administration is in the person of Sen. Mar Roxas.

I`lll chose Mar Roxas over Villar, Sen. Villar got involved in a malicious contract over his land that boosted the price. Sen. Roxas is a right and perfect candidate to become a 15th. President of the Philippines.

God Bless Mr. Palengke / Mr. Padyak

In this country where ends will never meet, I think that it’s not about getting a president who shall unite the Filipino people.

I think we need a strong leader. A visionary leader who can make things work and not simply play rhetoric and just making things united.

History shows that Filipinos can never be united. At least a smart, intelligent and visionary leader (who of course is not corrupt) is what Philippines needs.

guillermo

I have 3 suggestions that our law makers must do to improve our country:

1. Politicians to enact a law to get rid of the so called PORK BARREL among our elected officials to prove that they are honest, service oriented and dependable leaders. Pork barrel is not subject to auditing ang accounting so there is no transparency at all. They use it for them to stay in power. Imagine P200 million for senator and
2. Only one in the family should run for public service to give others a chance to serve as well. Right now the whole family is involve in politics, the father is governor, the wife is congressman, the son is a mayor and the daughter is a congresssman in a newly created district to cite an example. In other words a monopoly of power. We have a saying in tagalog “lahat ng sobra ay masama”.

3. All government transactions must be done with full transparency to avoid wasteful spending and anomalous transactions like NBN-ZTE deal which inspite of a verifiable evidences Ombudsman Chair Gutierrez ruled out the involvement of the First Gentleman and President Gloria thereby putting Neri and Abalos as the culprits. What a shame for the Ombudsman’s image if there is any.

bandiritas

it is true we need a president who has devine love the Almighty to resist the temptation of anything that is bad like corruption. we also have to ubderstand that divinity is partly one of the quaalities of good leader; a good leader should have the commitment, dedication, and intellect to serve as public servant. we would want nonoy to improve more on how he deals in media. we want leaders who are not dictated by others. if he really want to serve, show his sinceity and firm decision. we would always admire a man of few words but is effective in delivering services to its people.

Efren Ranile

Honesty, competence, love of country and living a simple life are all evident qualities of Senator Aquino as a public servant. Like millions of reform minded Filipinos who is pinning our hope in him, I’m sure he will not forsake us, nor he will allow the good name and legacies of Senator Ninoy Aquino and President Cory Aquino be tarnished with corruption or any irregularities.
HE MUST NOT HAVE THE ELOQUENCE OF HIS FATHER, NOR THE SIMPLE CHARISMA OF HIS MOTHER, BUT SENATOR NOYNOY AQUINO STAND TALL AMONG ANY POLITICIANS NOWADAYS…He represents Hope and Change for our nation.

“LONG LIVE THE NEXT PRESIDENT OF THE PHILIPPINES”

Noynoy… The People’s President who can unite the Filipino people

We are now in the worst episode of our history as a nation, where evil triumphs over good, lies derail truth, corruption dislodges honesty, and self-interest of our leaders prevails over the interest of the Filipino people. Our situation is much worse than the martial law regime under President Marcos. Because of these, we had been searching for a leader who has the morally integrity to be our next president. With the sudden death of President Cory last August 1, 2009, God made a divine intervention (“Deus ex-machina”), in our history. God answered our prayers and He sent us a very important message that we, the Filipino people, deserve a second chance– a second chance to restore our distorted moral values and to reconstruct our disintegrating political system. A humble and reluctant leader has emerged from the very lost of a great President— he is a shoot of the same tree. This man is no other than Senator Noynoy Aquino, the son of President Cory.

History has just repeated itself before our very eyes. With the turn of events, which started with President Cory’s funeral march was a “déjà vu” of Ninoy’s funeral march in 1983 that ignited the flame of nationalism in every Filipino’s heart. With Senator Mar Roxas’ withdrawal from the presidential bid, it reminded us of the Doy Laurel- Cory Aquino tandem in the 1985 election. Senator Doy Laurel made a great sacrifice, by giving up his personal ambition of the presidency for the sake of our country’s interest. Similarly, Senator Mar Roxas did a noble act of self-sacrifice and paved the way to Senator Noynoy to lead the 2010 presidential race. The unfolding of these events should take us seriously towards deeper introspection of God’s message. It is now the time that we let go of our own personal interest and think of what is best for our country. The May 2010 election is just around the corner. Let us value our sacred votes this time, and cast them to the most deserving candidate, the one who we can trust and can unite us together as a nation.

In 1986, we fought the battle against the dictator. Filled with courage, together we marched to Camp Crame to show our unity and our strength as a people through people power. Victorious, we ousted President Marcos from power and we installed Cory to be our new president. But along the way we abandoned her and expected her to do miracles with all the mess that was left behind by President Marcos after he looted our nation’s wealth. By this time, we should have learned our lessons well. Our second chance is at hand– the very chance of which we can redeem ourselves to restore our nation’s pride. Let us bear in mind that no president, no matter how morally good and intelligent he is, can make this country move forward unless we take part in rebuilding our distorted system of government and established institutions. Let us do our part as citizens of this country. Let us not cast only upon the shoulders of our next president the load of responsibilities, but let us contribute in our nation building, in reconstructing our broken moral values and resuscitating our drowning patriotism.

President Cory’s death is the tipping point that we have been waiting for. It awakened our long dormant hearts thirsty for change. President Cory’s sufferings with colon cancer renewed Ninoy’s sacrifices. Her death was a new kind of martyrdom for the Filipino people—reminding us that every Filipino is worth dying for. But, have we asked ourselves if we are worth ding for? Senator Ninoy and President Cory sowed the seed of selfless leadership through their examples and by laying down their lives for the good of the country. It is now the time that we reap the fruits of their labor – and that fruit is Senator Noynoy. He is the fruit of a good tree, which Christ described in the Gospel. Many were awed by the story of the little Jiggy (President Cory’s grandson) and the jar of chocolates, when he asked her if it belongs to the Filipino people. It is clear how President molded in the young mind of the little Jiggy, that you should not steal the things that belong to the Filipino people. There is no doubt how Ninoy and Cory successfully raised their children and grandchildren with the right breeding, and inculcated in them what selfless public service and accountability really meant.

Many criticized Noynoy for being so closely attached to his mother, but will that make him less of becoming a good President. Definitely not! His closeness to President Cory made him imbibed the values and characteristics we admired about Tita Cory. There is no doubt Senator Noynoy is the one, the Moses who will lead us to the desert of national restoration. He is the one, who has the moral ascendancy to lead us to the Promised Land, who is humble enough (just like his mother) to pass on the responsibility to Joshua (the next president) when his term ends. Just like in the Bible story, the role of Moses was to prepare his people for 40 years of purification on their way to the Promised Land. In the same manner, Senator Noynoy will pave us the way and will level off mountains of corruption and injustice as we traverse together the desert of our socio-political indifferences.
In this time of change, what we need is a leader with an extraordinary breeding, like Senator Noynoy, who can motivate our people to take part in the ripple of change out of volunteerism and service. What we need is a leader like him whose bloodline has proven what self-sacrifice is all about by laying down one’s life for the sake of his people— the very virtue of shepherding, not of dictatorship. What we need is a leader like him who recognizes the strength of every Filipino by empowering them to be self-sufficient through micro-financing— the essence of the new people power that he learned from his mother. What we need is a leader, like him who has the moral integrity and credibility to lead this country, someone above the normal and traditional politicians. What we need is a leader, like him, who can inspire our citizenry with the true sense of patriotism, founded on love for God, country, and our fellowmen. What we need is a leader, like him, who can mobilize our people to preserve and protect our God-given natural resources and to develop our God-given talents to be self-sufficient in our food supply and basic services. What we need is a leader who is trustworthy to re-construct our constitution, rehabilitate our systems of government and institution, and who has the political will to establish controls to protect the integrity of public service.
Senator Noynoy is the only one who is not deceptive in character. His honesty as a leader that flows within his veins will unite us together to rally behind him in his presidential aspiration. We need a leader like him who can win this election through our bare support and voluntary contributions as citizens for change. If we consolidate our votes together we will make history, and we install a leader who wins the presidency outside the traditional political campaign. Since he owes nobody but us, who pushed him to run for the sacred office, then, he has our mandate to lead us and he has all our support that he needs for change.
We have to help Senator Noynoy to win, and we have to help him achieve this by making his position and platform of government clear to the masses. We must cascade the idea to every Filipino that we have no better alternative. If we really care for this country and think of the future of the succeeding generations, we have to campaign for Noynoy. We should make people understand that he can be our “Transition President”– who will overhaul all systems of government and reconstruct our constitution by building a strong foundation that bears our very ideals as a nation. He is the one who can do this without any vested interest to reap the fruits of his labor and to go beyond his term. We have to help him then, in establishing safeguards to protect our new system of government and our new Constitution once put in place. So that, whoever will be the next president, we are assured that he has no power to obliterate and desecrate our Constitution just like in America. That is precisely the reason why in United States, the euphoria and the feeling of hope of every American, after having a newly elected president. Everybody knows he will imbibe and protect the idealism of their forefathers that were sown in the fore-grounds of their established institutions and system of government, that he, even as president, has no power to alter.
Moreover, no one among our presidentiables is facing a greater accountability than Senator Noynoy. He bears the name of the two re-known heroes of our time. Surely, though he is not capable of doing it, he will not disgrace his family and much more the Filipino people who voted for him, of any act of corruption. No one is better qualified than him who grew up from hardships and sacrifices, whose father was a victim of political persecution. He is the son of the honest, prayerful, humble and patriotic president of our country. We are assured that he learned so many things from his first hand experience as he grew up beside President Cory. Senator Noynoy is well-equipped for the presidency. He has his father’s intelligence and his mother compassionate and peace-loving heart. He is ready to serve as our next president.
The 2010 presidential election is our turning point; it is our very last chance for change. God gave us this second chance at hand to restore our nation from its spiritual deterioration, socio-political disintegration and moral decadence. Let us not waste this chance. Let us vote for Senator Noynoy – he is our only hope! He is the People’s President who can unite us together as a people. The choice is on our hands now, it is up to us whether to accept the challenge or not. God has given us this golden opportunity, what is your choice.
Mabuhay ang Pilipinas!
