I appeal to GMA 7 and to any decent and honorable executive of various networks or the publishers and editors, to ban completely from the media industry this lady whose character and style is highly repugnant. Please also submit her to a psychiatric evaluation as to whether she is psychologically fit to become a journalist at all. Whether her story is true or not, her style and her words are completely INSULTING to the intelligent Filipino people who are forced to listen to her ACERBIC TONGUE. My heart bleeds for these unrepentant people whose callous hearts and conscience continue to wreak havoc on other peoples’ lives. She claims to be old, but she appear to have never grown at all in terms of wisdom. PLEASE POST MY COMMENT.

The issue is not whether piolo and/or sam is gay because we are not being sexist here. It is more if Lolit Solis is telling the truth. If it were simply an opinion as what other detractors love to write about - there will be no lawsuit. After all, we are entitled to our own opinion. But for Lolit Solis to write about an incident that happened only in her malicious imagination is libel becasuse it is designed to malign 2 innocent individuals who only want to earn a decent living. That is why she is being sued. That is she should be put behind bars, notwithstanding her age.

Just in case if Lolit is right, Why should people reacted to much in these. Now this is a modern time to express what you want. If a person is a gay it doesn’t mean that you are not 100% man. can’t wait to see lolit solis behind bars. this is it! after she got away with the mmff scam, at last she’ll have to pay for her usual wrongdoings. unfortunately though, many in media kinda side with her. are they one of them–people who have no respect for other people in media. they always say that since showbiz people are subject to public scrutiny, they do so without the least respect for these personalities especially because they belong to the other station. come on! this must stop. the press should be rid of people like lolit solis. send them to jail.

Ganyan talaga ang showbiz need mong gumawa ng ingay para pag-usapan at patronize ang iyong upcoming concert para saleable. Di natin alam kung ito ay moro moro lang kasi up to now, wala pang nakukulong sa ganyang cheezemeez. Lucky sina Piolo at Sam kasi hit na hit sila ngayon sa tabloid. Magkano kaya binayad nila kay Lolit???

Para sa akin, hindi ito issue kung nagsabi si lolit solis na bakla sila sam and piolo. opinion nya yun. The issue is, nagsinungaling siya sa publiko. NAg imbento sya ngisang kwento para lang manira ng ibang tao. She abused her power as a writer. Sana nga eh makulong siya para mabawasan ang mga sinungaling sa media.
To lolit: pwede ba mahiya ka naman sa mga ginagawa mo ! Di ka na ba nagtuto sa mga nakaraan mo? I don’t care if you are 60, kahit 70 ka pa. You deserve to be in jail ! para naman matauhan ka — kung tao ka nga ba.
To Startalk: ano ba naman kayo at kinuha nyo pa ang babaeng ito para maging co-host ? Sino pa ang maniniwala sa programa ninyo ?

Di namn kasiraan sa kanila ang issue na bading sila, higit na nasira ang pagkato ni lolit na gumawa ng kwentong puro kasinungalingan at imahenasyon lamang. Kung totoong bading man sila, matatanggap pa din naman sila ng mga tao lalo na ng mga tunay na nagmamahal sa kanila. Pero ang gawan sila kwentong di namn totoo ay di katanggap tanggap kaninuman. Even if Sam and Piolo are indeed both gay and they prefer not to be known as such, that’s their choice and we have to respect it.

I hope Sam and Piolo do not back out of this case and give to Lolit her long overdue comeuppance.

Come to think of it, she was caught by Mayor Lim during the filmfest scam but how many times could she have done it in the past and have gotten away ith her crime?

Ang problema sometimes sa people like Lolit Solis (and Cristy Fermin and company), nasa “system”na nila ang manira - intentional man o hindi. Unfortunately, they lose SELF-RESPECTABILITY (na minsan hindi nila napapansin). Parang isang tao na nadudukutan at nawawalan na ng isang mahalang bagay, di pa niya alam.) I do agree that Lolit should suffer the consequences of her actions but I should also stand on the fact that these two individuals who are accused to be gay are too defensive. It’s true that if you are really a true man, you should not get affected. Maybe Sam and Piolo are hiding something. I remember in yul servo-piolo case where piolo cried because of the allegations that have been thrown at them. Yul Servo on the other hand did not speak anything because maybe he did not want to divulge to the public the real sexual preference of Piolo. Maybe he thinks that piolo is actually piola. This is just a suggestion that any news about Piolo and Sam penned by a showbiz catalput Lolit Solis was already in court and any outcome of that libel case will be the much awaited events to see! We are not here to judge and whatever the result from that case I am sure it will bring the best in showbiz. Well if Lolit Solis will go direct to jail as soon as the resolution was made I guess this will be a good precedent of any incoming cases for showbiz personalities whose only aim why they join the movie industry is to make people happy and thus so- why they should protect their image not only for the public but to their families as well. Lolit Solis and the rests of her colleagues should be given the necessary “axe” for malignly destroying such artists. I will salute the highest court if ever they can do something that will protect these artists to almost all scrupuolus writers who are so greedy to make money out of those artists who served as their victims. Para naman kay Piolo at Sam, the more you inject to the mind of the public that you are not really sure who you are, that until now you could not yet find your true identity. Now that our legal system is involved, let it find its course. As long as Sam, Piolo and Lolit talk; this circus will just cover other pressing societal problems like graft and corruption, poverty, politicking. The new generation Pinoys are smart. They recognize when non-sense issues are being tossed simply to re-focus the public interests from the essentials and the relevant.

Sam looked too good to be true when he & Piolo filed their complaint. He was not the same Sam that we have seen on tv kissing Chix very torridly when they were still inside Kuya’s house. Part of repackaging? Parang ang bait-bait.

Dear Editor:
I have been insulted. Recently, two Philippine actors, Mr. Piolo Jose Pascual and Samuel Lloyd Milby filed a P12 million libel suit against columnist Lolita Solis for portraying them as Gay men.

They stated their reputations had been damaged. In addition, they stated her portrayal had insulted them, was defamatory, caused them dishonor and that their dignity and integrity had been assailed. Furthermore she had disrespected them.
As an out Gay person I am insulted by their portrayal of Gays. I have more integrity and dignity in my little finger than they have in their entire bodies, spirits and consciousness. How dare they imply that a Gay person is less of a person than themselves? We were all created by God and God doesn’t make mistakes, does he?

The very same issue of your paper carried an interview with Jake Gyllenhaal, a film star with a worldwide reputation. He simply ignores such comments and actually employs self deprecating humor in which to defuse such rumors without insulting other human beings and filing frivolous lawsuits.

Maybe Mr. Pascual and Mr. Milby could take a lesson from him.

I am not going to file a class action suit against them on behalf of the millions of people they insulted . . . this is their own internalized homophobia . . . they can rot in it! I am sure we won’t be seeing them at the Academy Awards in the near future.

Gay Fans of Piolo and Sam Deserves Respect Too!

So, Piolo and Sam finally filed the suit against tabloid writer, Lolita Solis. For those of you who are not aware of the story, Piolo Pascual and Sam Milby are actors from the Philippines. Both have a successful career as two of the hottest young leading men in the local entertainment business. According to Lolita Solis, in her October 15th published article for the Philippine Star, the two actors were at Sofitel, a coffee shoppe of a luxury hotel in Pasay on October 12th around 4PM. She reported that the two actors are in a middle of intimate interlude which she describe in Filipino slang word “naglalampungan” which has a some sort of sexual connotation. When the two noticed her appearance, Solis wrote, Piolo and Sam hurriedly left the place. When I read the article I honestly got the hidden innuendo. The article was trying to prove that the two actors are in an intimate relationship and that they are in a “date” proving the long withstanding rumor about their sexuality.

Piolo’s reaction to the article was a repeat of the old articles about his sexual orientation. That’s was of silence. Just for your info, he also effectively avoided a more serious scandal few years back. That was when a TV talk show aired a segment about an allegedly sex video tape between Piolo and another actor. The scandal died its natural death as the sex video was fake and Piolo surpassed the whole ordeal unscathed. And so Piolo decided to be silent. Meanwhile Sam Milby has a different approach. He was very vocal right from the start. He immediately reputed the article and acted swiftly. Few weeks before both actors went to different cities in Canada, all directed to our Filipino communities, he orchestrated a media blitz. With the help of their lawyer, he gave the hard tongue reporter time to retract her article and made a public apology or else both actors will sue. A defiant Solis went on defensive and declared no wrong doing even citing other articles written about the two actors as more malicious and direct about their sexuality. Solis even directed the whole suit as a fight between two rival networks as she is connected with GMA and the two actors are affiliated with ABS-CBN.

So after the given time has passed, both actors have no recourse but to file the suit. Lolita Solis and her Pilipino Star editor, Veronica Samio were sued for 12 million pesos, around 300,000 CAD. Pascual and Milby filed their lawsuit on November 16th to the Manila City Hall both gave a formal statements.

Here is Piolo’s official media statement:

After consulting with my family, my friends and legal counsel and after much thought and prayer, I have decided to file a lawsuit for libel against Ms. Lolit Solis. It was not an easy decision for me to make. As an actor I know nothing of lawsuits and the time consuming legal process involved.

Furthermore, I do not relish the idea of filing suit against a colleague in the industry. Especially someone who is my senior and who was once worthy of my respect. Respect is what this is all about. When Ms. Solis wrote her article published on October 15, Ms. Solis disrespected and insulted me. What she wrote was baseless and a complete fabrication of events.

Not only were we not at Sofitel, either singly or together on that date, but also we would never have behaved in the manner that she so graphically and maliciously recounted.

We are suing because our dignity and integrity have been assailed and put to question. We are aggrieved by her article and her subsequent efforts to explain herself at our expense.

She has disrespected us as colleagues and as human beings and the only way left to restore this respect is through the courts of law. We do not know why she concocted such a blatant lie. Nonetheless, we have given her every opportunity to retract her story and set things right. But our offer of a simple retraction and apology has been met not with contrition and truth but with ridicule and contempt.

And so, with humility in our hearts and faith in God’s divine justice, we now leave it for the courts to decide.

Upon reading all the media reports, it all boils down to the two actor’s s_xuality. We have to set the facts down. The court will have to determine the truth about the reported article. If it’s not true then the two actors will be vindicated. And finally, a lesson will be learned. Fabricating a story to insinuate or add fire to such lies would be clearly put forward to everyone’s mind. But would it?

I am a big fan of Piolo Pascual. And I am an out, gay male. I am pretty sure that I am not the only gay fan of Mr. Pascual. We buy his music and watch his films. I am pretty sure there are also gay fans of Sam Milby. Given that the two were not in an intimate date that day, their action or comments seems to reflect some negative views about homos_xuals.

Comment No. 1:

Sam & Piolo: “Apart from being a complete lie, it contained words and phrases sufficient to leave in the minds of the readers that we are gay men engaged in a romantic dalliance, an imputation which seriously damaged our reputation as bankable actors’”

Being gay will damaged their reputation? Is there such statistics or study about this argument? Last time I checked even mainstream Hollywood produced a number of gay films that stars big bankable actors like Jake Gyllenhal and Heath ledger in Brokeback Mountain or Desperate Housewives star, Felicity Hoffman in Transamerica. In our local scene, Rustom Padilla’s career got resurrected after his dramatic coming out in Pinoy Big Brother. He followed this up with a string of successful films which included Zsa Zsa Zaturnah and Happy Hearts. Even young actors nowadays don’t even hesitate to accept gay roles. Recent memorable roles were that of Dennis Trillo in Aishite Imasu 1941: Mahal Kita, Eric Quizon in Markova, Comfort Woman and Nathan Lopez Jr in Ang pagdadalaga ni Maximo Olivares. All of the above examples are a proof that gay roles didn’t affect negative career outcome. If an actor is an openly gay this doesn’t mean failures. In local scene Rustom Padilla’s career went on the upside after his coming out. Boy Abunda’s s_xuality is a common knowledge and his career as a television hosts remained successful. In Hollywood, Lance Bass, the member of the music group In Sync, came out untarnished as he published an autobiographical book. Neil Patrick Harris, the Dr. Howser TV star’s career is on the rise again with a new sitcom, How I met Your Mother. Not to mention, Rosie O’Donnel and Ellen DeGeneres, both added extra drama into daytime television scenes recently. O’Donnel with her departure from the View and Degeneres with her defiant support of her writers of her show as the writer’s strikes continue. Overall, I must say, if someone is gay nowadays, it’s an added edge! You’re officially included in the “IN” crowd. So all these comments about damaging one’s career is so baseless and so 70s!

Comment No. 2:

Joji Alonso (Sam & Piolo’s lawyer): “Earlier, Piolo went to the bathroom and Sam had to go the bathroom. We told him [Sam] to stay. Baka the next write-up is that you’re having s_x in the bathroom. There’s paranoia already and that is very sad.”

This comment is totally out of line. Their lawyer is insinuating here that gay men normally commit s_xual acts in public wash rooms. These kinds of comments are not acceptable particularly coming from their lawyer. This way of thinking is not paranoia, this is stereotyping of gays.

Comment No. 3:

This last comment was quite dramatic. Only very religious person would give such a righteous comment. Like a later day saints outreach worker? Perhaps. I still felt the negative message here. Like being gay is so bad. Evil. When someone called you a fag, what would you do? What would you feel? If you’re Tom Cruise what would you do if someone accused you of being gay? I came across an article about Mr. Cruise being featured in a gay magazine in the 80s. I think I still do have a copy of the article. It was reported that Mr. Cruise bought all the remaining copies in existence of that old magazine. Btw, he didn’t sue anyone. He just let go. Jodie Foster was rumored to be gay. She was featured in an article in Out Magazine about so called famous gay out actors in Hollywood together with Anderson Cooper. Both Foster and Anderson didn’t sue Out. I guess, only in the Philippines when the severity of such crimes is so high society stills ridiculed innocent actors like Piolo and Sam. And they have to do something about it to stop the jokes and gossiping. The only thing that I seem to disagree is their blatant stereotyping and negative view of gays. They may not directly say this but like what the article that was written by Solis they implied negatively about the word “GAY.”

Piolo and Sam may think that they have been disrespected and yes, they do have the right to defend themselves but their comments and action are disrespecting to so many of their gay fans. Fans who like myself buy their musics and films. Fans that methodically followed each single news about their concerts and TV shows. Fans who write about them in their daily blogs. Fans that like the old fashioned ones collect theirs photos and articles. Both Piolo and Sam must learn to respect their fans before they earned respects that they are seeking here.

We are aware that both are born again Christians. I wonder what would be their views about homos_xuality. Would they consider me and hundred of their fans sinners? But that’s another blog.

In conclusion, being gay is not a negative thing. It can NOT damage someone’s career. Gay men don’t go to public washroom to have sex! Stereotyping of homosexuals must be stop and actors including Filipinos are not excuse. Respect must be given to those who respect other human beings. Piolo Pascual and Sam Milby have hundreds of gay fans. They’re all deserved respects too.

The issue here is whether Piolo and Sam are Gay. I know for a fact that Piolo is a Gay. He is a classmate of my brother at Saint Francis School in Sta. Ana, Manila. That’s why we are wondering why he is being groomed as Hunk. I saw him a couple of times during his High School days prior for leaving the country and “talagang baklang bakla”. Besides, volleyball pa nga ang laro niya sa school hindi basketball.

It’s so sad to see an old woman languishing in jail. Lolit should be confined to Institute of Mental Health instead. She’s can concoct lies and she doesn’t have an idea what is truth anymore. we know piolo and sam are good guys….kasalanan man o hindi na bading sila…pero nka sulat sa Bible na Lalaki lang at Babae ang puedeng mka pasok sa langit.

This is a comment regarding the dilemma caused by Ms. Lolit Solis. I know and understand that she is exercising her right s to free speech as a writer. However, even if there is no malice in her writing, it was meant to indicate and accuse Sam & Piolo to ruin their reputation that they are both gay. I would bet that if it was Senator Jingoy & Senator Revilla that she saw at the pool doing their sweet talk at a well known hotel, etc. she would not make it sound as if they were gay Senators, because she knows she will be in big trouble. What better way to ruin the other networks Super Stars than to try and ruin their reputations even if she said, she did not say they were gay in writing, but she meant to have people react and speculate that they are, that is reason enough for Sam & Piolo to file a libel suit against her.

In my opinion Ms. Solis is a very good liar and as you can see with her comments after she wrote the column, she likes to turn & twist her words around to show that she is the one being taken advantage of. The others may have written about Piolo before but never filed a lawsuit against them, and people will
shrug their shoulders, as nonsense since they don’t believe them, but since Ms. Solis has a showbiz talk show, they would think twice about what she said and wrote because that’s what their show is about, to make sensations and make their show as number 1 in rating, which they probably got, but was short live when the lawsuit was against her. Lastly I don’t feel sorry for Ms. Solis if this time, she will go in jail for her lies. Ho-Ho-Ho to you Ms. Solis.

As the saying goes…the truth hurts. The story behind Piolo and Sam maybe true or not, and no one can tell this time except they themselves. Real men as they maybe must not react to such a bluff so intensely like bringing it to court. It is known by everybone that these showbiz writers can hardly tell the truth.
