Annabelle Rama is furious at GMA-7 senior vice president for entertainment Wilma Galvante for what she claims as an act of “sabotage” on the opening day of her son Richard Gutierrez’s movie with KC Concepcion, “For the First Time”, last August 27.
Galvante’s “brainless” move, Rama said, was authorizing the staging of the birthday concert “Let’s Celebrate” of Richard’s fellow GMA-7 contract artists Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera on the same night.
Rama went as far as charging Galvante as having “never really liked Richard” in an exclusive interview with Inquirer Entertainment. “Sabotahe,” Rama said. “Sa umpisa pa lang magkagalit na talaga kami ni Wilma. Si Annette and Felipe Gozon lang ang may gusto kay Richard.” Atty. Felipe Gozon is GMA Network chair while his daughter, Atty. Annette Gozon-Abrogar is GMA Films president.
Rama claims GMA-7 did not support the promotion of “For the First Time,” a production of Star Cinema, the film outfit of rival ABS-CBN. GMA-7 agreed to loan out its contract star Gutierrez for the project in exchange for another pairing with KC under GMA Films to be directed by Jose Javier Reyes set to open on Valentine’s Day next year.
“Tinapatan nila ang lahat ng TV appearances ni Richard sa ABS-CBN. Kung may utak s’ya (Galvante), dapat naisip n’yang this is Richard’s movie,” Rama further told Inquirer Entertainment.
For her part, Galvante denied any sabotage and said there was no intention to pit Dingdong and Marian’s show against the first-day screening of Richard and KC’s movie. She claimed the Araneta Coliseum, the concert venue, was unavailable on August 29 and 30, the original dates the network considered for the show. She also said they didn’t consider staging the concert at another venue because of an existing agreement between GMA-7 and the Araneta group.
Rama said she was only protecting the interests of her son. She said Richard leaving the network was an option but said it was an issue “too early” to discuss.
Holding simultaneous show biz events are being considered in local show biz as head-on competition, regardless of whether it is a film showing or a concert. However observers see nothing wrong with it.
Seiko Films producer Robbie Tan even sees this as “healthy” and provide audiences more choices. Others even think it is not a head-on battle because the concert is a one-night event while the movie has screenings the whole day and would be shown on theaters for at least a week.

On this issue, i understand where Annabel is coming from. The timing of the bday celebration’s of the Kapuso’s stars is really questionable. Since it is already late, they could have moved it to a later date and promote it not a bday celebration but just a thank you concert/show. Richard has given so much contribution to GMA network, is this how they repay his loyalty? Talk about credibility and loyalty. It is obvious that they are now promoting Dingdong as their main star should Richard transfer to the rival station.

excuse me guys.. i don’t think annabelle is that worst..kayo kaya ang maging manager ano kaya ang gagawin ninyo.. it’s very clear that gma did not think of the consequences it would create..look at the gma news here online you can never see a video showing how successful the movie was..wala talaga as in wala.. so, if it’s true na they are very happy they should do something na parang nagpakita sa support and it is sad na wala talaga!I’m here in Canada and all I can say is that it’s all crap thinking and GMA is a crab.

You can not blame Annabelle for her sentiments. From the start, she’s loyal to GMA when it comes to Richard’s career. GMA shouldn’t have permitted Richard to do film with ABS kung ganyan din lang naman ang kanilang gagawin. What Wilma Galvante and GMA network did was absolutely intentional. We were not born yesterday para paniwalaan ang paliwanag ni Wilma na that there was no malice. C’mon, araw-raw ba may concert ang Araneta? To Wilma, where is the respect and delicadeza? Well, according to her it’s business. Pera pera lang namna pala and loyalty & delicadeza is out of the picture. What ABS did to Judy Ann Santos, GMA did the same thing to Richard Gutierrez. Both actor’s have certified box office records and yet they were treated like that. So, there’s no such thIng as loyalty pala. HU HU HU esep esep kapams and kapus.

si annabel, napaka-insecure. gusto nya anak lang niya ang sumikat, just like the bench show where dingdong got more exposure than richard. gma could not schedule this affair earlier because marian was in australia then she and dingdong went to new jersey. they only had 3 days of rehearsals because of their busy sched. ano ba naman ang isang concert lang for their family and fans, compared sa movie na weeks ang run sa theatres. and annabel is not loyal to gma, even if it was gma who made richard the star that he is. tinapatan lang ng gma yung offer ng dos which annanel was considering when they renewed richard’s contract last year. 2010 pa mag-expire ang new contract thats why di pa talaga sila maka-negotiate for another one. basta nakakasawa na yung laging magdadadakdak si annabel. para siyang swapang at takot mawalan ng pera. samantalang yung mga ibang talents niya ipinagsisiksikan nya din gma. i think gma should promote and build up another star to replace richard this early kasi nga lagi na lang panakot ni annabel na ilipat sa kabila si richard.

For me, bakit takot matapatan ang movie nina KC at Richard. Takot ba sila sa Tandem ni Marian at Dingdong? Si KC di pa artista yan may mga fans na siya kasi yon ang mga fans ng nanay niya ganun din si Richard. kumbaga may mga supporters na sila. Si Marian at Dingdong ay wala naman silang mga magulang na puede nilang makuha ang mga fans ng mga magulang nila no. Kaya kung ano mayroon sila ngayon ay talagang pinaghirapan nila.
