Pacquiao in ‘Rocky 7′?

Manny Pacquiao in “Rocky 7″?

Consider this explosive plot: Rocky Balboa turns boxing promoter who is faced with insurmountable odds in terms of sealing prized fights with big-name boxers due to the financial crunch. With his back against the wall and financial health in peril, Rocky looks beyond the US or South America and trains his sights on a far-away country with incredible talent in the sport, discovers “Boy Kamao” (played by Manny Pacquiao) in a provincial match, and sees himself in the emerging fighter, whom he will soon promote and push to become the next world champion.

Well, that could be a good “Hollywood breakthrough” for our Manny but it is just, in reality, a product of my disheartening attempts at writing Hollywood synopses.

But what is real is that Pacquiao and Rocky star Sylvester Stallone are really talking about a possible movie team-up, according to Team Pacquiao. While both met in a posh hotel in Los Angeles recently, with Sly meeting Pacman’s sons and giving them autographed boxing gloves, nothing was definite about the possible project. Reports say Stallone was looking at producing the movie, which has a storyline similar to the Jacky Chan-Chris Tucker blockbuster “Rush Hour” series.

But if ever this is really in the works, Stallone should watch Pacquiao’s 2007 film “Anak ng Kumander” first and decide on a thespic approach for the WBC Lightweight Champion. But if the plot would revolve around the life of a boxer, just like what I precariously presented above, then Manny could just be himself and really not act at all.

Something like his more concrete show biz project, GMA 7’s “Totoy Bato,” in which he will play a character he only knows too well.

With big name networks and possibly Hollywood studios interested in jumpstarting his show biz career, Manny has the best of both worlds. But then again, he should play his cards right.

Pang hollywood na si manny.

Coffee lover

It would be interesting to see Pacquiao in a big budget Hollywood movie.

XboX

DAPAT MAG ARAL MUNA SI MANNY MAG INGLES .

Ay Ren Ay Ki DO

kung ang American ang mo produce unya si stallone ang partner, maganda yan, straight na ang english ni manny

Swoops

well, if the movie should push through i believe that its going to be huge worldwide. but, I hate to say it bro that you didnt do your homework right regarding your report. Robin Padilla is the man to portray “TOTOY BATO”. Manny Pacquiao is very good in boxing but acting? hehhe… he is worst… every single fight of manny since the very beginning I’ve already watched. I’m a big fan of him when it comes to boxing. I have watched him live and personal in “BLOW BY BLOW” during his early days. they almost always set the ring in Araneta Cubao. Well, as for the Totoy Bato, Robin Padilla is the best suited for that role and he has finished shooting some of the episodes for that said teleserye which will be aired in GMA7 this year.

kramiczzz

Pacman can do that, he has the experience bout acting; well, as great as he is,if that happened, that would be a Hollywood blockbuster.

EXAMINERAUTHOR

This is totally unexpected. If it eventually materializes, what a great honor it would be for the Pacman and the Pinoys. I have yet to know of a pure-blooded Pinoy who ever landed a lead role in a Holywood movie. This could be a first for a Pinoy.

Watchmode

The Pacman in a Rocky movie? Yeah, why not? All manny has to do is box… and box he will go all the way to the bank.

roy

wow! its great..like rocky balboa as a trainer and manny” Pacman” paquiao is the boxer…i cant wait im excited!!!…bring it on mr. Rocky ” the italian stallion” balboa…

boksingero

You are definitely dreaming my man! Manny can’t even pull off a decent movie here in the Philippines… and now you’re talking about hollywood? Rocky 7? Come on!

yupabs

dpat ung movie ay musical…talo niya si Rambo nun..hahaha

Melba

Stallone and Pacquiao, well they are not compatible team, they don’t look good in screen kasi Pacquiao is too small for Stallone.

isidro

isidro

What i am trying to relate is that Manny is a great boxer with all his hardworks and sacrifices,he might as well test this opportunity. We all know how great he is in venturing into unknown challenge such as his fight with Oscar,if it will materialize he will be working as hardworking as he is and sacrifices to make a successful movie in Hollywood with no other than Syllvester Stallone as his partner or boss.

Booo

unless he wants to be mentioned on the same breath as Jennifer lopez, gigli and mariahs glitter. This really suck big time. And also, who would understand a single word from both Pacquiao and Stallone…Hope this will never happen. and please, Manny, stay in the gym. Hey Mr Plaza, dont make stories like this ever again.

Frederick

Manny should stick to where he’s good at…boxing…acting in hollywood might just give him bad reviews…

Babs

it will be stupid to have rocky 7!!! that will be another william hung in the making! plzzzzzz

buchard gordon

hay naku….tumigil na kayo oy…bahala na si Lord…

Atong Sira

Well…who knows least he got the taste of Hollywood and american version of popularity exploitation. Be a flop or a buster, he got himself additional data added to his history. I squirm if it is flop then if it is the other way…more politicos and artistas will ride and make them too proud to the bones. More balatos and maybe a taste of Hollywood limelights and bimbos.

Daniel

I heard somewhere that they are waiting for ricky hatton to retire and he’l do another rocky film with stallone, same basic storyline but something about discovering him in manchester or some other rubbish. Would be good laugh to see if the hitman can act aswell as he fights though.

jesus lopez

well, i don’t know but if don’t fight rocky again the film be fake, rocky come on champ, stand and fight because micky need you

Manny Pacquiao

I think its more disturbing that they would even consider making a rocky 7. however, if they did, pacman definitely should be in it!

Lazlow

Whenever I see Pacquiao act or go kengkoy, I lose my respect for him. He’s the best boxer in the world right now, and he’ll gain nothing from this project.

red

whoever wrote this thing, pls..wag ka namang mag-isip parang talangka…

DJ Rein Valdez

Why not! Let us be proud to Manny Pacquiao.

Marr

Hats off. . . then heads off

Mari

if ever Manny and Sly would do a movie together, why not? It would be an honor and a privilege. Not everyone can be offered an opportunity like this.

zer0

Rambo % pwede pa.

mangyanis

hahahhahahah…
hahahhahaha…
manny delivering his lines in english…yun lang…tko tayu dun…hahaha..
pero pero..the self deprecating hero..can be just be another pablo virtuso ha..
errr…he actually is without tryin at all

victor manalac

well, as the advise from a book , “in search of excellence” says : “stick close to your knitting”. acting may not exactly be among manny’s forte (although camera angles, focus, and other cinematic tricks and artistic blends could compensate for those) but on the other hand it’s going to be about boxing - which is right up manny’s alley. the ring and studio however differ a lot because the first is real while the latter is all about scripts and props. but, who knows ? manny’s reputation will precede him and people wil show up in the moviehouses. but just for curiosity — will the film show rocky beating pacquiao ? now, that could be something else for the filipino viewers.
but then again, to manny , will it simply be the “purse” this time ? i hope not. maybe when he has retired young and while on top, then he can take risks. he will then always be the famous champion. and if he fails to be a good actor, then he will always be the champion boxer ! sometimes it pays to heed another advise : “you can’t eat your cake and hold it at the same time”.

totoy damo

rambo 7 pala gagawin nilang movie..kala ko RAMBOtan..lolz

Somebody should tell it straight to Mr. Manny Pacquiao that he may be a world class fighter, but he hasn’t got what it takes to be in the movies, or even on TV for that matter, unless of course when he’s fighting. The guy’s attempt at TV hosting on GMA7 was excruciating to watch, while the movie (Anak ng Kumander) was hilarious, even though his character was supposed to be dead serious as an insurgent leader of some kind. Come on people, we all know how awkward Manny sounds when he speaks, with his hard Southern accent and all. Would showbiz people and corporate giants even indulge him for endorsements if he were not as suddenly rich and famous as he is? Doubt it very much. And how’s good ol’ Sly going to make him speak in straight American English without making everybody laugh?

LUIS QUEZON

Utterly stupid move!,Manny.Magtigil ka na sa pagiging ilusyonado!

epgomez

I think Manny can give hollywood a try he doesn’t have anything to loose anyway. If it flops well he’s not an actor he’s a boxer. If it works then good another pride for the filipinos opens the doors to hollywood for filipino actors. It will not hurt his boxing career either. I think it wouldn’t hurt.

andre

ganyan namn tayo mga filipino pag hndi pa cgurado andaming satsat, why dont give manny a shot.It his choice to be a good boxer anyway, why not a hollywood actor.

weng

bat di na lang pacyao 8. ala e jan pa pla itong news na ere. march na e. yun pa rin. nagbati na yta z dr. belo (sr na kya?) at tito boy, pacyao prin ang blog!!!!….

Joker A.

How horrible! That would be full of shame on our part. I really admire Manny when it comes to boxing but in a movie?? he cant even speak straight tagalog how much more in english!
