Diether’s game?

- ABS-CBN, Diether Ocampo, GMA-7, actors, controversy, news, television -

It seems Diether Ocampo is not crossing over to GMA 7. At least, not yet.

It turns out Ocampo is still under contract with Star Magic, the talent arm of ABS-CBN, a network statement said.

“Diet (Ocampo) remains in Star Magic. We will trust he will make the right choice,” a short SMS message from Star Magic’s publicity head Rikka Dylim read.

Annabelle Rama is furious at GMA-7 senior vice president for entertainment Wilma Galvante for what she claims as an act of “sabotage” on the opening day of her son Richard Gutierrez’s movie with KC Concepcion, “For the First Time”, last August 27.

Galvante’s “brainless” move, Rama said, was authorizing the staging of the birthday concert “Let’s Celebrate” of Richard’s fellow GMA-7 contract artists Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera on the same night.

Regine hurt over ABS-CBN denial

- ABS-CBN, GMA-7, Regine Velasquez, television -

Regine Velasquez might have bitten the bullet too early in her efforts to grab the “Betty La Fea” plum role in ABS-CBN.

She risked her job at GMA-7, even placed herself on a forced exit from her only show at the moment, “SOP”, so that she would not be in a conflicting position while she was negotiating with ABS-CBN.

Network wars heat up over alleged ratings manipulation

- ABS-CBN, GMA-7 -

After filing a case against AGB-Nielsen Philippines over the alleged manipulation of television surveys, ABS-CBN now seems to train its eyes on its rival GMA-7 as behind the supposed rigging.

Despite a statement from ABS-CBN officials that the case was only directed at AGB-Nielsen, it was an ABS-CBN radio reporter who tagged GMA-7, citing a statement from Maya Reforma, AGB Nielsen Philippines general manager in an exclusive interview, wherein she was quoted as saying that GMA-7 was behind activities that could have exposed panel homes to influence.  GMA-7 issued a statement saying the ABS-CBN dzMM radio report was “erroneous” and added Reforma, who it said issued a court affidavit belying the claim, had not directly named GMA-7 as behind the alleged manipulation of the TV ratings. ABS-CBN stood by its reporter’s story. GMA-7, meanwhile, will file a libel suit against ABS-CBN over the report.

The Quezon City Regional Trial Court has released a temporary restraining order to prevent AGB-Nielsen from releasing or reporting television ratings from Bacolod City, the area where the alleged manipulation took place as revealed by an ABS-CBN informant.

Angel Locsin to Jennylyn Mercado: Prove your worth

- Angel Locsin, GMA-7, Jennylyn Mercado, Marimar -

Angel Locsin was placed on the defensive when asked about her take on the spat between her manager, Becky Aguila, and Jennylyn Mercado, a co-’alaga’ of Becky.  Her response? She complained that she was always being blamed for the troubles of Becky’s talents in GMA-7.

In a press conference attended by a Showbiz Talk insider last Friday, Angel, according to him, was exasperated about the issue and said that Jennylyn’s camp should not pin the blame on her transfer to ABS-CBN for the young actress’ problems with GMA-7. “Hindi ko na problema yon,” Angel was quoted as saying. She added Jennylyn should take care of her own career and not blame her for any misfortunes that had happened. She also dared her former GMA-7 co-star to “prove her worth.”

Jennylyn previously commented that she would rather severe ties with Becky than face the prospect of GMA-7 dumping her.  With a fiery tone, Jennylyn also noted she had not spoken to Angel since the US theatrical premiere of the Angel-Becky production “Angels” in early July.  Jennylyn was a lead star in that film. On July 20, Becky announced that Angel was not renewing her contract with GMA-7, the television network that built her successful showbiz career from scratch. A few weeks later, Becky confirmed Angel was transferring to ABS-CBN as an exclusive talent. Angel signed with ABS-CBN in mid-August.
