Reader reacts to Boom Boom loss, road project

Posted under Boxing, Feedback

WHY not just continue the road project in Boom Boom’s
village?

As governor, it does not make sense to continue or push
through with the project only if Boom Boom won the fight or became a world champion. The problem with the governor of Bohol is he only wanted to share a ride on the front page.

Poor Boom Boom, he absorbed all the pain. Hopefully Boom Boom will become a world champion before the governor of Bohol needs him for the next election.

    Honorable SIR, sanay magising kau.

With or with out the win of boom2, it is your obligation to serve the people of Bohol. Wag magpapogi lang.

REACTION TO COMMENTS OF JHAY-R PIGUERO PERMITO:

Well, in fairness to your comments about our main topic here. Thanks heaven Its nice to hear about some govt project completed in Bohol during the tenure of Governor Aumentado and you said “ngayon lang naging ganito ka-sikat ang Bohol”. Well and good and maybe for you Boholano to wait those years for the projects to complete from 1990 to 2007. Makupad pa kayo sa magaling na pagong you only started to move on 1990 and GOD please dont allow them to stop moving this year 2007. Evidence of stopping is already seen as what our main issue here after SCRAPPING OF THE ROAD PROJECT IN BOOM BOOM B. VILLAGE AFTER HE LOST HIS BOUT IN THE RING. AND REMEMBER WHATEVER THE NAMES OF THE BARANGAY OR BARANGAY ROAD WAS- IT HAS NOTHING TO DO FOR THE ARTICLE WHICH YOU DOUBTED TO BE DEFECTIVE. PLEASE TRY TO PUSH YOUR BOHOL GOVT LEADERS TO MOVE BETTER AND FASTER AND DO NOT TRY TO COVER THEIR BUTTS UP OF THEIR BLUNDERS. I AM PROUD TO BE A FILIPINO AND THANK YOU LORD, FOR NOT MAKING ME A BOHOLANO.

Gov. Aumentado, you are a disgrace to the Boholano people. You are the best epitome of a TRAPO.

Even if Boom lost that certain fight im sure he did his best to put up a good fight.

    Jhay-r Piquero Permito Says:

I also shared the same sentiments with the most of filipinos reading the article about Boom-boom’s loss of road project. I may be as frustrated as most of you guys if i do not know Gov Aumentado. a lot of credits were already earned by the honorable governor for the just completed “bohol circumferencial road project”.

Duda ko, the article might be defective. First, there’s no such barangay as Canuling. Ang ibig sigurong sabihin ng writer ay “Can-olin” and if that would be the case, ang kalsada na tinutukoy ng writer ay maaring ang kalsada that connected Guio-ang to Cogtong road passing through barangay Can-olin. This is where Boom-boom used to jog going to my beloved barangay Guio-ang.

For all the developments including road improvements na ginawa ni Gov Aumentado sa mga nakaraang mga taon, it is not possible that he already have the fund to get the project started. But, i think Gov Aumentado wants to share the credit of this project to Boom-boom. Sooner kung magiging champion na si Boom-boom, aalis na sya sa Can-olin at lilipat sa lugar na kung saan pwede nyang namnamin ang kanyang kayamanan bilang world champion. in fact, i heard na under construction na ang ang bahay nila sa Tagbilaran City. Kung mangyayari yan, isn’t that great na maalala namin ang hirap at karangalan ni boom-boom para makuha ang world championship belt at ang road project sa tuwing nakikita namin ang kalsada? Yes, napakaganda po kung macemento na ang kalsada na ito. and I personally believe that it will happen too soon. dahil tulad ng mga tao sa lugar namin, i believe that the failure of boom-boom in the hands of de leon was just temporary and GREAT SUCCESS is coming too soon. But, i personally want it to become the “world boxing champion’s road”. That’s why, like boom-boom we are willing to sacrifice a little time waiting for that road.

    BOB frm UAE Says:

BOXING CAREER OF BOOM BOOM IS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE OBLIGATION OF THE GOVERNOR. THE GOVERNOR SHOULD UNDERSTAND THAT HE WAS ELECTED BY THE PEOPLE OF BOHOL TO SERVE THEM. HE IS A PUBLIC SERVANT, HE MUST DO HIS JOB WITHOUT ANY CONDITIONS. WHEN THE GOVERNOR WON THE ELECTION, THE PEOPLE OF BOHOL IS COUNTING ON HIM, HE SHOULD PROVIDE WHAT IS BEST FOR THE PEOPLE OF BOHOL. THE GOVERNOR SHOULD REMEMBER THAT HIS SALARY CAME FROM THE PEOPLE OF BOHOL, NOT FROM THE RESULT OF THE BOXING MATCH OF BOOM BOOM. AND EVEN IF BOOM BOOM LOSS THE MATCH HE(BOOM BOOM) STILL RECEIVED WHAT IS DUE TO HIM.

It would do best for the Guv to admit publicly that he committed such an unnecessary blunder by opening his mouth
on matters that need not have been expressed after all. Such insensitivity was uncalled for and inappropriate at a time when he should have offered instead a fatherly pat to a still bewildered son. Boom Boom might have been careless in defending himself and those were crucial and very costly split-seconds mistakes but Aumentado’s pronouncement which should have been weighed down overnight with tact and intelligence befitting a provincial leader was just downright stupid and a 1st round KO to his person and office. Boom Boom’s star would definitely rise sometime soon but what about you?

in fairness kay boom-boom, well after all the pain he’d gone, the governonr should not act those retard thinking. How funny…

    Mariel Says:

Bohol Gov. Erico Aumentado should be utterly, utterly ashamed of himself.

First and foremost, the governor should remember that he was elected to serve the people of Bohol. Thus, projects should not accomplished or discontinued simply because of the whims of the governor. It is the governor’s duty to help make his people’s lives better. It’s part of his job description. In fact, he is getting paid to do so. The funds that are to be used for these projects also come from the same people that he is supposed to serve. Also, the pre-work for the project is already done. If the road to Can-uling needs to be paved, then the governor needs to pave it, whether or not Boom-boom won.

And so the question now is why? Why deprive a baranggay a cemented road which is something that the residents have a right to have and that will make their lives better? To paraphrase Shakespeare, there seems to be something rotten in the province of Bohol. Well, at least in the Bohol governor’s office.

Gov. Aumentado, it would do you best to remember that you were elected to be a servant of the people. You were elected to serve, not to play king. Shame on you for laying on a young man’s shoulders the responsibility of not having his baranggay’s road cemented simply because he did not win the boxing match. It’s your responsibility to cement the road, not Boom-boom’s. Now it’s time to do what is right. It’s time for you to do your job and cement that road.

That Governor obviously does’nt have any idea the kind of physical and mental training those Pinoy Boxers have to endure before a fight. Its hard enough stepping in that ring and give all your best whats even harder is loosing at the other end. I’d be glad to see that Governor trade places with Boom-Boom and get his a** whooped by a Mexican, let’s see how he feels?? And for Boom-Boom you’re still the champ!! I know it wont be long that belt will be yours so go and get it pare!!! Mabuhay kayong lahat mga Kampeon!!!

    Balmero D. Minero Says:

Kaya, para kay Boom Boom… keep up the good fight!

    vaughn Says:

Another example of a decaying political manuever in the Philippines! How could we expect our country to improve if all the politicians we elect would always ride on the popularity of our sportsmen? (I tell you there are a lot of them - for vested interest!) Infrastructure projects should always be given priority and those are for the people, not for somebody who will bring honor… E natalo nga, forget or deferred na lang?! Are we really in the state of congenital decadence?!

  23. 12
    Maverick Says:

while i would like to think that the gesture — or challenge/bet — was made as a form of encouragement (literally giving meaning to the phrase that the fate of the people rests on boom boom’s shoulders), it still leaves a very bad taste in the mouth. i’ve good things about the governor having had the chance to work for human rights in his province. so the intention may be genuinely true and good, but sad to say, the means and method he is employing does not and will not ultimately deliver the results that will be beneficial to all concerned.

  24. 11
    DONN TUYOR Says:

It is NOT Boom-boom’s responsibility to have the barangay road cemented. The governor seem to forget that it is his responsibility to get it done being the servant to the people, while boom-boom entertains the people (win or loss). Surprisingly, no one from the national government expressed their views on this issue.

    edward soliman Says:

The lost of Boom-boom is a hard pill for the Filipinos here in Canada to swallow. We all have cheered for him and felt overjoyed during his winning bouts but let me remind you that we should give more of our support, encouragement and prayers to this promising boxer at this time of his failure on the ring. If I am that governer I will push through for the construction of that road because a failure will always lead to a success. This will even motivate Boom-boom to do his very best for his next fight.

  26. 9
    frank jim Says:

the governor of bohol must do his job without condition! if there is a budget for the cementing of road project/s, why scrap it for a foolish reason that boom boom did not win? shame on you governor!

    Allan Says:

No wonder Bohol, despite its immense potential to become the region’s economic powerhouse, continues to sputter along. Ganyan pala klase ng governor nila. Hey, even if Boom Boom were to lose a million times (wag naman sana) I still would pick him over that bleep of a governor.

  28. 7
    Jim Tom Says:

The bohol governor should be reminded again what an elected goverment official should be and what is the goverment responsibility and rule to the public. Goverment’s commitment to the public should always be not in exchange of each individual or from a mere boxer’s achievement.

    Roilo Golez Says:

There is also another problem. RP now always fights low class counterparts and therefore expects to win easy. So, the Filipinos are made heroes in advance and when then it does not work as expected, the loser is very down.
Why it needs that Governors and Mayors from Bohol go with their boxers, if not for to stand in the light of winners for political easons.
If it is true that a road project, if needed, is made depending ona winning boxer then something is very wrong.

  31. 4
    -benq- Says:

The Governor is just telling the world that he is a CERTIFIED TRAPO! YOU don’t need a boxer champion to cement the road. Does the Governor will ask for a “BALATO” if Boom2x wins the fight in order to cement the road?

  32. 3
    Edgar Says:

This reader’s reaction is true! It’s the local government’s job to see that infrastructure is well served to the people, manalo man o hindi si Boom Boom! I can sense that the governor is using Boom’s loss as an excuse to scrap the road project… what about the funds, where would it go if the project doesn’t push through???

Another political shame bringing down our glorious sporting ahievement.

  33. 2
    johnny baby Says:

maybe the governor has bet the project’s budget(7M) for boom-boom’s fight in las vegas’ bookies.

if boom-boom won, he would have 14M or more. but now that he lost…you get the logic.
