you should see the tapusan/santacruzan/flores de mayo in alitagtag, batangas as well.. i think it’s much better despite causing traffic :) all the baranggays have different floats and parade/procession for Mama Mary… May30-31

nahhh… u should have seen the brgy. as-is grand barrio fiesta in bauan batangas (june1′08). this is only celebrated every ten years. however, yearly tapusan is still celebrated with just civic parade and procession at night in honor of mama mary. anyway, the grand fiesta had civic parade in the afternoon was just fabulous, nice floats and pretty girls and boys. santacruzan was the biggest event because all the reynas were meticulously hand-picked (chong! maganda lahat walang hipon!). Plus, unstoppable ati-atihan had been performing relentlessly. Well, should ask the people who have seen these. they can attest to what I am blabbering….
despite of all these, we should always remember that fiesta is all about MAMA MARY (nice float for mama mary and mahal na poon), thanking her for all the blessings people received and will be receiving… 

Yup, I saw it too and I think that the best Santacruzan in the Philippines is in Alitagtag Batangas. You should see how they prepare for the festivities especially the Hermana/Hermano Mayor of each barangay. The event will start the day before with “sayawan” and the band roaming around the streets. Theirs the best!

Barrio Bungahan in Cuenca, Batangas was also the very first one to organized “The Tinapay Festival” which was celebrated on its 75th Anniversary. Later years it was transferred to the Municipality of Cuenca. Have you seen a float full of different kinds of tinapay? an ensaymada 4 to 5x big as a basket ball? hotdog ban as 2x long as a ten wheeler truck? men that is awesome!

You wouldn’t believe how a small barrio like this organized a great and grand event. This was even even featured in TV.

The bottom line is, it is only a proof that the barrio is very devoted to Mother Mary, her intercession to our Lord Jesus Christ who is the source of all blessings. Tinapay Festival was created as a thanksgiving to our Lord because most of the barrio’s family business is bakeshop.

I hope, Tinapay Festival will again be celebrated in the barrio. That will be nice!

well this town really rocks. they can really do the impossible, lalo na pag ang mga Javier ang nag-organized (no bias).

i hope that they can organize the “tinapay festival” again.
