Former President Corazon C. Aquino peacefully passed away on August 1, 2009 at 3:18AM after more than a year of battle against colon cancer; an icon of democracy and a symbol of ‘people power’ in the Philippines and around the world.
An advocate of peace and unity, we thank her for what she accomplished, for what she achieved, and for what she sacrificed for the Filipino people.
What follows are some scenes from the wake in De La Salle Greenhills (August 1), in the Manila Cathedral (August 4), and the funeral parade (August 5).

I never heard of Noynoy or Kris thanked the 4 honor guards who stood there for nine hours! They are really far from their mom who always never forget to say thank you. These two siblings are just good in complaining when it is for their disadvantage. Sad story…

@4reyna.
Maybe they did thank the honor guards. you didn’t see them do it on TV, hear them say their gratitude on radio or see their photos giving those guards awards on print, but it does not mean they didn’t do it. Maybe they felt that there is no need to tell the world every little thank you notes their family sends to anyone.
You are making an issue out of nothing. Sad story…

MANILA, Philippines – The family of former President Corazon Aquino will “personally thank and honor” the four soldiers and policeman who stood guard around her casket en route to her interment last Wednesday at August 21, 2009, the memorial day of her husband Ninoy Aquino.
“The Aquino family will thank them personally and honor them on the 21st,” Aquino’s son-in-law, Eldon Cruz, said in a text message to the Philippine Daily Inquirer (PDI).
Cruz said the family will personally thank Army Private First Class Antonio Cadiente, Airman Second Class Gener Laguindam, Navy Petty Officer 3 Edgardo Rodriguez, and Police Officer Danilo Maalab PNP, who stood at full attention atop a slow-moving flower-decked truck that bore the casket of the former President.
They endured almost nine hours of standing by moving their finger and flexing their toes and tasting the rain water to quench their thirst during the funeral procession from the Manila Cathedral in Intramuros to the Manila Memorial Park in Parañaque City.
Cruz said the Aquinos would also thank and honor the five soldiers who stood guard on the former president’s casket when it was moved from La Salle Greenhills in San Juan to the Manila Cathedral last Monday, August 3.
Cruz identified the soldiers as Army Private First Class Rico Seno, Airman First Class Sherwin del Rosario, Army Sergeant Carlo Tiongson and Samuel Fuertes and Arutro Roadilla from the Philippine Navy.
Aquino succumbed to cancer on August 1. Her body was taken to La Salle Green Hills where it lay in state for public viewing for two days, and then to the Manila Cathedral on
August 3.
Aquino was buried beside her husband, Ninoy, at the Manila Memorial Park where every August 21, the family gathers in a memorial for the former senator, who was assassinated on Aug. 21, 1983.
