IF you're tired of using Twitt
er (because of the annoying downtime mainly), you might consider flocking t
o Plurk.
After discovering this on Mas
hable, I took the plunge and created a profile. A service almost like Twitt
er, Plurk looks, er, cuter. Its interface shows a timeline of messages posted b
y users. You can respond quickly to any user using a pulldown menu.
As in Gmail, you can see the threads of discussions among users. No need to put
@(name of twitter friend) You just click on a friend, and send your message. I
t's that easy. You can also send private messages, post cute emoticons (which o
ne user suspects is similar to Yahoo! emoticons), and choose one of Plurk's col
orful verbs. By colorful verbs I mean literally verbs in different colors. The
word "says" is in orange, "loves" in red, and so on.
I started plurking today, and I found a lot of people/friends starting to move
to Plurk. So because I've gained more friends, I have earned some karma points.
Yes, you earn more karma points by being an active user (completing your prof
ile, adding friends, etc.). If you get more points, you'll be given access to s
ome special emoticons, among others. Let's see how this new micro-blogging sens
ation will last when it becomes as popular as Twitter.
Plurk me.
Don't tweet but plurk me

Twitter is so spring 2008, its ALL ABOUT PLURK!
I still use both service (using Twhirl for my Tweets) but I'm leaning more on P
lurk because of its timeline style and organized conversation.
Interestingly, I Plurk by day and post on Twitter for my blog. It's worked out
beautifully. Plurk offers a widget for your blog as well, but somehow, I wasn't
crazy about readers getting my every thought in real time. Irrational, I know
- log into Plurk and you get the same thing. But for me, Twitter works best for
that communication.
The ribbons suggestion is very good. I would go by that suggestion if I were in
to Blogs that much. I would wanna look into Plurk a little closer. I like the t
weets essentially because of its searchable nature... I could search anything.
I hople I can search plurk a s well as tweets. Thanks for the article... it was
a very enjoyable read.
When I heard about Plurk for the first time I was in questions because I didn't know what plurk was but after discovering it, sending messages became even more exciting compared to the regular plain jane texts. I am a loyal twitter but when traffic gets heavy I jump to plurk and it has never failed me till date. Plurk has some amazing features which makes it more exciting then twitter and has huge potential but I think twitter holds the piece of cake this time for being the most popular social network.
