FULL rehabilitation of the PNR [Philippine National Railways] is welcome news.
I remember when I was a kid, my parents used to ride the train from San Fernando, La Union to Manila. As a kid, those were exciting years, with beautiful scenery along the railroad tracks.
I just hope it will be done very soon and I also hope that this project will not be “haunted” by corruption.

i heard some info that higher official of PNR refuse to accept a six engines from japan. is that true? it was said by some of PNR employee. i think corruption is still existing in PNR. much better if they choose a new official which is dedicated to their works.

We need this railway project to succeed.I think we should have a little bit of positive attitude on projects such as this.Or else,we as a nation would never move forward, ever.Even lowly Vietnam will soon overtake us economically. So please, stop being so negative.Let’s just be vigilant,so monkey business won’t rear it’s ugly head on this long due endeavor.

I think this project is most likely haunted by corrupt people that’s is why this project was given to a foreign investor (china) where a standard percentage of the project cost will go the personal pockets of the goverment in-charge.
If this project like this was given to a private firm own by Filipino People, OFW perhaps, considering the amount of money they remit every month, this will give tremendous benefits the OFW’s and to the Filipino People as well, and for sure no money will be wasted to corrupt goverment officials.

I am happy to learn that PNR will be rehabilitated again North and South Lines. Since my teenage days ( 1970’s) I’ve been used to ride PNR trains from my hometown Ragay to Naga city during my college days. After the opening of the Quirino Highway in mid 90’s, PNR South became poorly maintained , thus a lot of travellers use the Quirino Highways instead. Now that PNR will be rehabilitated again, my only hope is that only Honest and Dedicated peoples should manage the operation of PNR, otherwise same fate will happen again.

I have mixed feelings regarding this project. I am one of those who believe that we need a good railway system for our country (most developed countries in the world have and use them efficiently). I would be sad if they will use this only for passenger purpose like the MRT/LRT. Trains are tools or wheels for progress. We should maximum its use and extend it as far as it can be.
