JDV III and Neri: Who’s telling the truth?

10/26/07

Posted under Readers' Blog Posts

THERE has to be at least one of them telling the truth. While JDV III claims that Neri told him about his conversation with the President regarding the so-called offer of Chairman Abalos in order to have the NBN project approved, Neri counters with a completely opposite stance, saying that what JDV III claims is completely untrue. So now, it is left to us: who is telling the truth?

Better yet, what is the truth? This question seems to always escape the minds of many whistleblowers as well as witnesses, left and right. It is like a neverending cycle of a thesis and an antithesis. Whistle blowers tend to claim that they are the ones telling the truth. Does that mean that those people who are supposedly guilty of the accusation are kings and queens of denial?

One can see how easy it is to just say what you want to say and when you want to say it. In any case, the only way for the Senate to make its hearings of the NBN scandal worth one’s time and effort is if the people who are involved in the procedings (i.e. witnesses, whistleblowers, interrogators) truly have one thing in mind: to tell the truth by first stating what is really the truth!

These anomalies (ZTE and Spratley Islands) and the people involved are all so surreal in their stupidity of obviousness and transparency that are very insulting to the credulity of the Filipino people. Everyone involved, including Gloria, Joker, Abalos, Neri, de Venecia and all past bandits, including Estrada and Singson and the Marcoses, is playing game of hypocritical innocence, childishness and “pakapalan ng sikmura” that you cannot escape the thought that maybe they are cretins who have no control of their minds and actions! What kind of disease do these people have that they could not realize that everything ends eventually reagrdless of how much loot they could amass? To live like a worm afterwards worth stolen millions? Whew!

No one is telling the truth coz both are telling lies. Actually, what is the issue here? JDVIII becoming the “crybaby” coz he won’t be having the chance to be part of the so called “commission”. Ka baklaan ang nangyari sa kanya.

And to Salina: Don’t tell me no one is making any commission if you’re selling something? Aba alam mo pinoy di gagalaw pag walang kumisyon. kanya kanyang raket yan. She won’t blow her Ego that simple. Kung super guilty yan (like Erap) bababa na yan. Pero as of now…leave it as it is. Anyways, di nag push through yung plans for ZTE so what is the use? waste of time and money. Hay pilipinas di lang ako… pati ikaw! Magbago!

The Supreme Court nullified the ZTENBN contract.
The president GMA ZTENBN cancelled the contract.
    The Senate investigation produced nothing.

As to who is telling the truth?
Both are in pari delicto. Both are in mutual guilt.

Remember that our elected officials term of office is fixed and investigation is producing no valuable results.

Term of Office will expire for our officials with wasted time and money due to endless accusation and investigation.

And with the nerve to complain that our country is lagging behind our neighbors.

    Whose fault
    **************
Gloria Arroyo, Cancel the contract because she got catch again. For stealing!!! They should throw her ass in jail where she belong.

Well, if we read Jarius Bondoc’s continuing expose regarding the NBN project in his column, then, it is JDV III who is lying. He wrote that Neri confided to him that he informed the president of Abalos’ 200 million bribe to which GMA retorted do not accept the bribe offer but approve the project anyway.

Recalling JDV III’s first Senate appearance, he said that he has no knowledge of the President being involved in the transaction. Why the sudden change in the testimony?

It is very easy to make a spin out of Neri’s statement and JDV III is really taking advantage of the controversy given that a large segment of the population is critical of the administration. He has to drag GMA to save his father’s position. A drowning person will clutch at everything to save himself. Never mind who gets hurt in the process.

come on! If Gloria Arroyo, Don’t know anything all these corruption why is it she tell Neri, Not to accept the bribe but go ahead and okay the deal. Sabihin mo Gloria Arroyo, Knows everything in fact she’s getting plenty of bribe money. Have you ever check her annual income lately, It shot to the roof. where the heck did she get that kind of money. She’s only making P50,000. A month x 12=600.000. HELLOOOOOOO!

i think they are only telling only partial truth. one is only angry maybe because after losing the bidding he finds out that other people got bigger share than his. i’m sure he was offered an amount to back out or intentionally lost the bidding. i’ve heard of this many times in government biddings…you are offerd a certain amount to give way.

the other one naman is afraid to tell so he just mention names that can be drop like abalos. kasi if he’s not afraid of arroyo why not tell what she said when he told her that he was bribed…did she said “kulang ba? gusto mo taasan ko? or kung ayaw mo wag mo kunin pero kailangan mo sya iapprove..”or “wag mo kunin masama yan” etc…

i am wary of jdv3’s testimony. what if he got the project, would he be as transparent and above-board in his dealings like now that he lost?
would he not be guilty of doling out “for the boys” too, just like any other deals in gov’t if he won? how were his deals w/ the govt. in the past? just asking.

    jeph Says:

The simple truth was that GMA just instructed NERI to approve the NBN project despite of the bribery allegations.

No wonder NERI was scared to death of reveling the whole truth by invoking executive privilege.

Simple logic: The one who invokes the executive privilege is the one who is hiding the truth.

It may not be easy to establish who is telling the truth on the NBN Project. I believe it is easy to establish if it is OVERPRICED!

Shouldn’t somebody be punished for even just PROPOSING a project that is grossly OVERPRICED in the BILLIONS of Pesos? More so to the one APPROVING it!

    Delrey Says:

Who’s telling the truth? I have more reasons now to doubt JDVIII. He was credible when he revealed the bribery attempt of Abalos. He was credbile when he disclosed GMA’s reaction to Neri’s admission to her about the bribe offer. He confirmed all this in his two senate hearing appearances and he said that’s all there is to say. On the last one, however, suddenly he tried to embellish his disclosures by adding this time that GMA asked Neri why he did not accept the bribe and that Mike Arroyo was to receive 70 million dollar bribe. Consider the fact that in his earlier revelations, JDV III was careful not to drag GMA into the mess by repeatedly addressing her “my president”. As regards Mike he simply quoted him saying “back off”. Now Joey is singing a different tune by directly implicating GMA and MA to the bribe. What’s the game is he playing? He was credible the first time but adding something more now which he could have disclosed before puts his credibility on the line and his motives under question. It’s pretty obvious the father is orchestrating the whole show and using the son for his purpose. The JDV-GMA relationship is showing cracks. This can be a political fight GMA does not need because it could be fatal for her. And if it does, well and good so the VP can take over.

    Bansot Says:

Who is telling the truth? In my view, JDV III is more truthful than Neri. Neri wanted to tell the truth but is being prevented from doing so! Neri is under duress and cannot tell what he knew about the fact while JDV III has no encumbrances to devulge everything he knew about the fact! So, who would then be telling the truth? Most likely, JDV III! Or was he merely inventing something to cover up his own misdemeanor?

Fact: Neri was offered P200 million bribe by Abalos. Neri told JDV III and the president about this fact which the president later ACKNOWLEDGED to be the case. She knew that was against the law and yet DID NOTHING! Instead, she pushed for the approval of the deal! WHY?

JVD III was also offered a similar $10 million bribe to back off the deal by the SAME PERSON!

Was the husband of the president envolved in the controversy? Most likely. In fact, the amount of $70 million was mentioned! That was so real to be dismissed merely as figment of a fertile imagination! He was figured out on similar money scandals before. Can he be different this time?

Incident at WACK-Wack was dismissed as an “accidental encounter”. To a person who wanted to deny culpability, that would be the appropriate defense but there were other people present on the scene!

What is even more strange was for a person to tell another to “back off” from the deal acknowledging the fact that he doesn’t even knew who he was! A cheap denial?

Spinning the facts in order for the lie to triumph over the truth has become the predominant activity of people involved in scandalous transactions. Some even become habitual practitioners and became experts! We can see them running our daily lives.

However, it is up to the people to discern the truth from out of the lies. The task is not so easy - judging from the products of our confused minds the kind of characters we have elected to run the machinery of the State and our lives. It has become a “do-it-yourself” existence.

i think i can trust neri more than jdv3. first, jdv3 has no business dealing w/ govt w/ his father sitting as speaker. 2nd, he had the chance to tell everything the first time he testified, but he chose to reveal some more the next time, prompting us to ask ourselves if those facts are concocted, manufactured, or heresay. 3rd, neri has a reputation of being a straight guy, a technocrat, no-nonsense guy(ask AIM, since he was a prof.there)
i want to give neri the benefit of the doubt more than jdv3…perhaps neri invoked the executive privilege for reasons only he knows, maybe to save our country and let us enjoy relative peace? personally i hate to see an edsa 4 scenario. people are tired of going out into the streets.

The only way to find out who’s telling the truth is, To get all relevant document’s so that the truth will come out,…But Arroyo administration are blocking it. Why? meanly because they’re guilty with all the corruption that is rocking her stolen administration. If she don’t have anything to hide she should never stop the prove but as we all can see it. She’s blocking it. Meaning she’s hiding something. Meaning she’s guilty as hell. With all the corruption that has been going on in her stolen administration. All I can say is, She didn’t kick Erap for nothing!
