The irresponsible media

SHAME on you media, especially ABS-CBN!

You think you’re above the law? You are as arrogant as Trillanes & Co. You should show more respect for the authorities who are only there to protect the people (including you) and uphold the law. It is always a lose-lose situation when the police face the egoistic media.

If all hell broke loose during the Manila Pen standoff and some media men lost their lives, the police will be blamed, but then if the police try to [perform] their duties, the media cries harassment.

You think only GMA should reform? Think again; the media should reform too.

Email this | Email the Editor | Print | Digg this | Add to del.icio.us An anti-crime group on Sunday criticized the alleged “hush-hush” release of Romeo Jalosjos, former Zamboanga del Norte congressman, from the New Bilibid Prisons in Muntinlupa City.

Dante Jimenez, chairman of the Volunteers Against Crime and Corruption (VACC), said the release of Jalosjos might embolden high-profile personalities to commit crimes because even if they get imprisoned they could easily be pardoned.

“Yan ang isang tanong na maaring sabihin. Grabe ang rape ngayon (You could say this will embolden high-profile personalities to commit crimes. Rape is especially prevalent these days),” Jimenez said in an interview on dzXL radio.

He also urged authorities to disclose the list of inmates at the NBP who are up for parole or pardon.

The relatives of Jalosjos are allied with President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo’s Kabalikat ng Malayang Pilipino (Kampi) party, according to Jimenez.

“Dapat ay pantay-pantay, dapat malaman natin in public sino ang nabibigyan ng laya through the pardon and parole (We should be fair. Authorities should make public who had been pardoned and paroled),” he said.

But Persida Acosta, head of the Public Attorney’s Office (PAO) head, belied claims that Jalosjos got preferential treatment from Malacañang, which she said had pardoned more than 400 inmates.

Acosta, in a separate interview on dzXL radio, said the release of the other inmates was done without fanfare.

“Dapat kung may di kilala may pina-cover at pina-interview sa inyo. Kami naman pag kliyente namin uuwi na di na request pumunta sa amin (We should have let the media cover the lesser-known inmates released),” she said.

She said the release of the pardoned inmates was kept low-profile because most of them were poor and could not afford to stay longer in Metro Manila.

“Sinasabi ko lang sige uwi na, nagsusulat na lang sila nagpapasalamat sa mahal na Pangulo (I just told them to go home. Some of them had written the President to express their thanks),” she said. - GMANews.TV

to mbagumbayan…are you serious when you said some writer’s wisdom(S.) blows your mind away ;-))
….but i agree w/you that someone here is trying hard to think so deeply, but methinks even he does not understand what he is saying or is he hiding underneath his vague opinions?

to simple pinoy….i like what you wrote, its an eyeopener to those who adore abs-cbn.

    to clipmaster….talagang pasaway na sila.

to paul casem….oo nga, he writes nothing except gma resign. and he does not offer a solution after gma. baka he wants himself instead?

to fred s.of LA…..yes, we agree that those media people have bosses who tell them what to do and it follows they should obey…but it is the law that should prevail, not the bosses. in this case, the police who appealed to them to vacate shld be followed..

remember the hostage-taking at uganda in the 70’s? wherein one of the mossad mistook an israeli hostage as one of the terrorists, and was shot, that kind of a situation is what the authorities are trying to avoid…
and to those who are comparing the present times w/ that of the romans, that’s an exaggeration! during those times, a local leader can kill a perceived enemy, no due process, inquest, miranda law, etc…watch rome 1 & 2 dvd, or read any roman history books.

abbygail, yohoooooo way to go… nice one.

To SALINA and BELAT NI GLORIA

If you want to open your own view regarding GMA corruption please create your own topic but be careful not to mislead our people hope what you are about to comment is something TRUE and FACTUAL not HEARSAY or GOSSIP as being delivered by ABS-CBN to the public. We know poverty is currently existing since then but it doesn’t mean it’s the current administrator’s fault. If I ask you whose president wants to jeopardize and degrade the standard of living of their compatriots? none I think, because most of them were looking for solutions to ease the burdens of every family in this country. The only problem is sometimes some people were not satisfied to what the government is doing for their better cause.. and what happened to the previous presidents? if I ask you.. Starting Marcos regime they were all being told to step down.. but from Marcos to Arroyo did our country gained some development?
Please ask yourselves SELINA and BELAT NI GLORIA what is your contribution to our country for the betterment of our compatriots? CRITICIZE OUR LEADERS? Please start looking at yourselves you were being contaminated by the medias’ BAD IMPRESSION to our government.

BTW, OFW’s were planning to create more job for their compatriot here in The Philippines, as they have already invested because of the OFW INVESTMENT program of the current administration.
May this open your mind and be optimistic of our government’s plan for our people, our country.

    OFWs membership fee, sobra-sobra
    ************
The OFWS is over charge because they knows the can get away with it. Dollars pa, SUS! Even if they’re only going to charge OFWS P200.00 each time the leave the country the gov’t. Still make alot of money because there is lots of filipino people leaving the country everyday. If they really think that the OFWS is heroes then the should cut the charges or better yet, Don’t charge them. Remember without the OFWs money remittance the Philippines economy will collapse either you people admitted or not.

    Manny Villar
