The irresponsible media

SHAME on you media, especially ABS-CBN!

You think you’re above the law? You are as arrogant as Trillanes & Co. You should show more respect for the authorities who are only there to protect the people (including you) and uphold the law. It is always a lose-lose situation when the police face the egoistic media.

If all hell broke loose during the Manila Pen standoff and some media men lost their lives, the police will be blamed, but then if the police try to [perform] their duties, the media cries harassment.

You think only GMA should reform? Think again; the media should reform too.

    Yzabelle,

You can always try to start a blog by submitting a topic to the editor or request the admin for your topic to be considered.

BTW, abused Executive Orders or E.O.s are among the support mechanism which causes corruption and henceforth affects correct financial management and aggravates hunger in the Philippines. E.O. 464 for one is designed to cover-up anomalies in government and protect people involved in corruption.

What is primarily being asked of the government is to stop CORRUPTION, ANOMALIES and COVER-UPs, so far they are expert in skirting the issue and throw the blame to everyone else but themselves.

    Abby Dear,

Again I have to agree with Bert, except that I am not a gentleman, but like you, a lady too. In the spirit of season I want to be apologetic to begin with.

To be perfectly honest, I am sorry Abby, if I have caused you pain because of my irresponsible comments on your opinion.

I am sorry that the only proof I can come up that would say the least that I am against corruptions were my few entries in this blog.

I am sorry that if I were made you to believe that you have to denounce corruption openly in the street. You don’t have to do that, there are people who would do that for us like what they did before, during and after EDSA 1 – 3. (I skip the number 2 instead put dash; you might find number 2 “irresponsible”)

I am very sorry to disagree, that not because you’ve notice the propensity of some people to use different aliases this would qualify that your observation was correct. It’s not a matter of opinion when it comes to this; you need to be an expert on this field to say the least.

I am sorry if I have equated you to some people who can’t discern garci/gma’s voice. And I felt equally sorry that you still find good words for her, you knowing she was the voice behind Hello Garci Tape.

I am sorry if you have not seen the follow up report on TV Patrol (Maybe you were tuned to BBC) a day or two after the girl’s death. They DID run reports that allegedly she was raped by her father. But as to why she committed suicide it has to be resolve by authorities but not bloggers.

We can not forever blame our Government true, but equally or much worst is being ignorant and indifferent to what our Government’s wrong doing.

“mahirap na nga, ang dami pa mga anak. is that the govt.’s fault too?” It was only NOREX’s entry who insinuated that.

I felt sorry for me because I don’t have the access to Discovery Channel, National Geographic Channel and BBC that would make me richer with knowledge.

I felt sorry to ABS-CBN, after their programs like Bahay Kalinga Village in Bulacan that shelters less privilege people, Bantay Bata, Save Lamesa Dam, to name a few, still some people (Abby included) believe that they lack social responsibility and comment on their day time programming as pathetic. I was almost made to believe that media’s social responsibility is greater than that of the President of the Republic.

This “irresponsible ABS-CBN” news media team was the same “irresponsible” media who covered EDSA 2 and EDSA 3.

I’m going to miss you Abby Dear, since this would be my last post in this Blog. Not that I have grown tired of you and other people who comment on English writing but not on issues (those who comment on English writing IMO are pathetic as day time programming).

I believe I have read the better answer and gained knowledge (Thanks to this Blog) as clearly explained by LUX’s entry. I need to move to other Blogs “that would make me richer in knowledge” (allow me Abby to use your own words).

Let us continue to defy corruption just in our thoughts and within the comfort of our homes.

    Hello bloggers,

Why don’t we just think positively in order to bring this poor country out of disgrace? Think of something on what you can do for your country not on what your country can do for you.

Is there anybody around who can start a topic (blog) about “poverty”?

More than half of the Filipinos are poor. The poor people care more about their stomach not the EOs as what Kabayan always dicussed here.

Correction, I meant … no massive response against those who claim that there is supposedly “media irresponsibility”…

    ****

Gloria and allies, “testing the waters” as usual before doing something unconstitutional and repressive.

    ****

An excellent quote “deep caring”, allow me to post it again:

Bro Karl Gaspar reminds us of the popular Martial law quote:

“First they came for the Jews
and I did not speak out -
because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for the communists
and I did not speak out -
because I was not a communist.

Then they came for the trade unionists
and I did not speak out -
because I was not a trade unionist.

Then they came for me -
and there was no one left
    to speak out for me.”

(The quote was attributed to a German Pastor, Martin Niemoller, who resisted the terror of Hitler’s Fascist regime in Germany in the l940s.– Karl Gaspar)

A hunch, paranoia or a portent?

I have noticed that before the administration slams down on anyone or on any institution, the apologists first issues floods of criticisms in blogs before they proceed with their plan.

Just a hunch. If there would be no massive response against supposed “media irresponsibility”, the next phase would be cracking down on the media using both legal and illegal Executive Orders by you know who.

Perhaps my hunch is wrong and I hope it is; but if is not, the media and civil society should prepare for the administration’s “Operation Media-crackdown” which may possibly come in the near future.
