Downfall of CPP

01/03/08

Posted under Feedback

THIS is the funniest joke I’ve heard. How in the world can the Philippine Army accomplish in 39 weeks what it did not accomplish in 39 years?

While that is mathematically probable, that is realistically impossible. During the last 39 years, the Army has not been successful in reducing the New People’s Army (NPA) strength except in some successful campaigns. So the NPAs continue to attack army detachments and police headquarters and confiscate guns and ammunition. For [Lieutenant General Alexander] Yano to say that, reflects the style of his commander in chief who promised to create 10 million jobs in six years.

CPP downfall in 39 weeks? If that’s not suntok sa buwan, what else would we call that? If he is not joking, he is either out of this world or out of his mind, hence, his nonsense predictions.

but, i do not subscribe to a military solution to this problem, both sides should talk peace.
and besides, this ideology has outlived its usefulness. kung baga, laos na ;-(( look at the ex-communist countries and how well they are faring economically right now…

the AFP and the current and past regimes have time and again missed the entire point in solving the insurgency problem. we can never end insurgency by implementing a criminal policy of militarization/total war/all out war in 39 weeks, 39 years, or even 39 decades!

if GMA and her army generals (plus dorkk and the rest of the populace who know nothing of the insurgency problem yet are the staunchest advocates of a military solution) are sincere in ending CPP’s armed revolution, why not sincerely talk peace with them?
    ***************
They do! But CPP detect lies from all the peace talks. They knows that Gloria Arroyo, Is lying to her teeth she promise anything in order to get what she want it. Only to turn around and stab them in the back. Next time they have peace talks they should just hang her under the banana tree!

For as long as Gloria Arroyo, The one in power anything goes! Not just cheating, Lying. But stealing/killing in order to keep her in power!

    FRONTLINE

If additional proof is needed that Gloria and her bets had cheated, and massively, in the 2004 and 2007 elections, there is always the Maguindanao governor who can be trusted to make the slip in his boasting to let the people know that he had delivered to Gloria just what she wanted and how she wanted it.

Gov. Andal Ampatuan Sr. was quoted by the media as announcing, during Gloria’s distribution of Christmas gifts in Shariff Aguak, Maguindanao, last Saturday, that he would be supporting Gloria if she runs in 2010.

She can’t run, of course, if the Constitution stays as is.

But the clincher came when he said: “All (Gloria) has to do is to tell us what she wants to happen in elections in Maguindanao,” stressing that they in Maguindanao know how to pay their political debts.

All she has to do is to tell him how the balloting will go? That’s proof enough that not only cheating is resorted to every time in that province, but also that the governor does what Gloria orders him to do by way of telling him how the votes would go, and which bet she favors would win the Maguindanao vote.

Of course, Ampatuan and Gloria aides can always claim that Maguindanao votes under Ampatuan are command votes, but everyone also knows that this is a big lie.

If there was such thing as the Ampatuan command vote, then obviously, there would have been no need for poll operators like former poll officer Lintang Bedol to go through the motions of having the election returns and certificate of canvass get lost, while having these filled up with the names of Gloria’s candidates, and on a 12-0 vote, a statistical impossibility, not to mention the fact that bets still have to pay a princely sum for these cheats in the Commission on Elections (Comelec) to ensure that they land on top of the list.

In 2004, it was the same scenario in Maguindanao, and of course elsewhere, with Gloria cheating like mad, as evidenced by her conversations with her cheating operator, then Comelec Commissioner Virgilio Garcillano, plus the able assistance of generals lsuch as the military chief of staff and the others, all of whom were richly rewarded.

Isn’t it strange that the way these poll cheats, who are found to have cheated then quickly disappear, follows a pattern?

Garci suddenly disappeared, with not one policeman or military or NBI agent finding him. The same happened to Joc-Joc Bolante. He was in and out of the country, and yet not one single law enforcer could find him then. It was only when he was caught entering the US with a canceled visa that Filipinos knew of his whereabouts. The same thing has happened to Bedol. No one has seen him — at least that’s the tale the cops give.

But back to Ampatuan and his big boast. What is more likely is that he will have to dump Gloria in 2010 and even her candidate for the presidency, if her bet has no chance of winning the race. Ampatuan and his heirs — whoever they are — certainly won’t be in power once an opposition candidate who wasn’t backed by the Ampatuans wins. That’s the way politics in this country goes. One may be a Gloria diehard today, but definitely, once out of power and position, that diehard will suddenly be a loyalist of whoever sits in Malacañang. That is for certain.

But Ampatuan’s announcement also indirectly states that once again, there will be massive cheating in the 2010 presidential polls and in the same Maguindanao province.

The problem is that the Filipino electorate just can’t trust the current Comelec, even if a new poll chairman is named.

In 2007, there were enough so-called “independents” yet when it came to the crunch, they all folded up.

Even to this day, with Benjamin Abalos Sr. out of the Comelec, the poll body has not even bothered to charge those poll officials in the provinces who were exposed by the opposition as having cheated and were also caught violating the election law. Why not? There is enough evidence, and the Comelec has the power to charge them, as the law states.

Neither did the Comelec commissioners, in 2007, bother to maintain the integrity of the election documents, insisting on having the second copy of the certificates of canvass which also contained fraudulent votes read, while blocking every objection posed by the opposition lawyers.

Evidently, there were orders from higher ups to ensure the win of one Team Unity bet.

Are things going to change in 2010?

Not with Gloria still around, and with her political appointees plus people such as Ampatuan and the Comelec commissioners around.

    speaking of election:

i hope the automation of the ARMM election pushes through this year. I hope the policies and procedures for its implementation are now in place and ready because more than enough time has been given to the comelec to accomplish the task. I hope that they are on schedule and not behind their timetable.

i hope the mock election serving as initial dryrun will reveal which part of the system are compliant and non compliant to the set of accepted automated electoral standards. a trial run with comprehensive checklist will determine deficiencies, strengths, and successes of the electoral automation process. correcting deficiencies take time. i hope that a final dryrun will fine tune the system, (especially the security aspect of the operation) and will also check if there is a workable contingency plan prior actual election.

i hope outgoing comm. resurreccion broha can go to the usa, europe, asia, africa, middle east and australia to monitor the automation of election, and do community service in hongkong, if he passes by malacanang. charing lang po!

I think what makes this laughable is the fact that the general and the Arroyo administration (and all the previous administrations, in fact), have never actually tried to understand why the CPP-NPA have endured for so long. For as long as there is dissastifaction, corruption, injustice, inequality, inequity, and all the other social and moral ills that plague this country, the CPP-NPA will continue to exist as a bastion of hope for all those people who have given up hope on the legal and legitimate administration. Granted the CPP-NPA question all that democracy stands for, but can you blame people for wanting something better? something revolutionary? We make fun of the general because, as always, he is yet one more in a host of government people, bureacrats and what-have-yous, GMA being the ringleader of the lot, who absolutely have no clue about what’s going on here. Worse, they have a clue, but turn the other way, and think that eradicating the CPP-NPA…in 39 weeks no less (insert laugh track here)…will make all their problems go away…yes, I vehemently agree: they are out of this world…or maybe out of their minds…I don’t know which is worse…

  19. 4
    dorkkk Says:

It may be suntok sa buwan, but then again, it’s probable. And I really would like to see the downfall of CPP-NPA in my lifetime. The government may be bad and all that, but it’s an institution that we the people can help change. And the CPP is advocating the use of violence to advance change, which I think has no place in our present time. I have always believed that if CPP-NPA were to be effective in making change to happen, they should “strike” where the government is weak - like putting up programs for the benefit of the poor instead of raiding their sacks of rice and chicken in the countryside, putting up mechanisms or working support groups for certain sectors instead of spending millions on bullets, guns, red paint and cloth for streamers and vandalism in public places, being more pro-active in the community of nations by establishing networks and groups. That way, the government will be forced to rethink and to mend its ways. But really now, as it stands, CPP-NPA is not helping anybody and is actually becoming more like the present government - it so happened that the NPA is on the other side of the fence. Mga pulitiko din, makaliwa nga lang.

And for the rest of us? Well, maybe we should do our own share of initiating change in the society before we become too comfortable being mere armchair complainers and critiques.
