Then what?

I AM no fan of GMA. I abhor what’s going on in Philippine government and politics now, but I choose to see things from a higher plane.

I often wonder, if GMA is so evil and corrupt, why is GDP growth the highest in 31 years? Why is inflation in the low 2 percent? Why is the peso at P40.50 [to the dollar]? The problem with many is they think corruption can go away overnight. Why don’t we try to place ourselves in Malacañang and imagine funding a P6-billion presidential campaign, a P200-million-per-senator campaign, P20 million per congressional bet, local, etc., etc. from our own pockets?

We drag GMA out of Malacañang and you think all our problems are over. Haven’t you considered the biggest potential winners in such a scenario are the rightist military or the extreme left? Sadly, we may be playing to the tune of rightist and leftist power grabbers… and unknowingly leading the nation to the way of Burma!

Unfortunately, GMA is about the best this rotten political system can produce. She is a small part of the problem. Someone said the opposition can’t seem to gain any headway because nobody is above the fray. Of course no politician is above the fray. They are all part of this extremely flawed political system. To fix the system, we must first work long and hard to attain an economy that will support a principled political system. The only way there is sustained economic growth. Somewhere along [the way], we change the electoral system so one does not have to steal or sacrifice his/her principles to get elected and do his/her mandate.

After a sustained 10-year growth, for example, government may be able to partially reimburse election expenses. It will be able to pay government employees wages that afford basic necessities and more dignified lives. By then, ordinary Filipinos can afford to donate part of their growing disposable incomes to help elect competent and principled leaders.

My call to media and so-called moralists: Think!

    May mga ‘Pinoy na ayaw intindihin ang nagaganap sa kanyang kapaligiran. Bakit palaging sinisisi si GMA sa inflation, un-employment, high prices ng basic commodities and so on. Walang kasalanan si GMA sa lahat ng iyan dahil global phenomenon yan. Even the world’s largest economy ay may recession ngayon because of OPEC. Imagine the oil price of 115 USD. Saan pupulutin ang oil consumers tulad ng ‘Pinas. Sweti pa nga tayo at nakontrol ni GMA ang problemang ito at di dumapa ang ‘Pinas na di gaya ng ibang bansa na sumadsad ang economy. Let’s not be irrational in expressing our views.

    hindi ma uunite ni GMA ang bansa hanggat may mga oposisyon n mkasarili at may sariling interest. ayaw nila maging sunudsunuran gusto nila cla msusunod. they are hungry of power..
    =========================
    who is the longest staying president aside from marcos ? who is the one who with the evil society, military and the church deposed a duly elected president by coup d etat ? who is the one who almost succeeded in changing the constition thru peoples initiative for her to stay president forever ? and finally, who is the one who successfully divided our nation by means of divide and rule policy so she can stay in power ? just asking . . .

    to ma. makiling.. GMA is diffrent from marcos. GMA did not proclaim martial law to stay in power. she doesnt have ill gotten wealth. she doesn’t have a billion dollar swiss account & she is not a dictator. GMA has already reached out the oposition for peace & unity but they rejected it. ang mga mkkakaliwa ay may sariling idlohiya. khit cno maupong presidente ay kakalabanin nila hanggat d galing s communist party un magiging presidente. ang msama kc d2 s bansa e un mga oposisyon ntin imbes n tulungan umangat ang pilipinas e cla p mismo ang gumagawa ng kaguluhan para s pgbaksak ng bayan ntin. ok lng n mageskandalo cla s mga paratang nila s admin. wg lng nila hikayatin ang mga militar n mgkudeat at wg nilang kaladkarin ang simbhan s politika.

    ronald…
    kung hindi sa oposisyon malamang nasa diktaturyang marcos pa rin ang bansa natin…kung hindi sa oposisyon malamang anarkiya na ang ating bansa…kaya nga nakikiisa ang “so-called opposition” pati ang makakaliwa sa sistemang politikal upang ipaglaban ang damdamin ng mas maraming pilipino laban sa pagsasamantala at pang-aabuso sa kapangyarihan ni gma etal…nakikiisa ang tinatawag ding “destabilizers” sa mga programa at polisiya ng gma regime ang nilalabanan lamang nila ang samut-saring anomalya, eskandalo na minsan ay hindi tuwirang sinagot at sa halip ay binalewala, nagsagawa umano ng mga imbestigasyon pero di naman nilalabas ang resulta (mayuga report)dami ring imbestigasyon ng katiwalian pero wala ding agarang desisyong sa kabila ng mga ebidensiya(nani perez-impsa, jocjoc bolante-fertilizer fund and etc.)…kaya nga may panig ng oposisyon upang alamin kung may pagmamalabis sa kapangyarihan ang nakaupong rehimen…at walang demokrasya sa mundo na may mahinang oposisyon, kasama yan sa sistemang politikal at paglago bilang isang bansa…
    eh ang siste ayaw nila ng mga pagtatanong, ng mga pag-iimbestiga, ng paghahanap ng katotohanan…”kami-kami, tayo-tayo” strategy ang malacanang mafia at arroyo corrupt-poration.
    bakit hindi ang gma etal ang makipagkasundo sa oposisyon..yung makatotohanan pakikipagsundo upang sabay na isulong ang mga programa at polisiya ng bansa para sa bansa…eh ang kaso pag hinayaan nilang makadikit sa fortified wall ng malacanang angmga oposisyon at destabilizers kuno eh baka mas maraming baho ang sumingaw…

    sana nga at sana nga pa rin
