TO the nagging question: “Who can replace her (GMA)?” — the logical answer is in this form: “What if she’s incapacitated, or she resigns or, God forbid, she dies, will the Philippines be lost in oblivion?”
No one is indispensable regardless whether or not he or she occupies the highest position in the land. Maybe a “lesser evil” (as a figure of speech) will, but let’s hope the one who next occupies the seat is no evil. So, if the office of the president is vacated, there is no choice but for the VP to assume the office of the presidency — regardless of whether or not the VP is “capable” of leading the nation.
Perhaps, we can backtrack starting from the Comelec… How are candidates qualified and/or “disqualified” from running for office? Our voters can only select from candidates pre-selected by the Comelec. Disqualifying candidates is left with the Comelec — in the hands of people no less like the former [chairman Benjamin] Abalos! So, what’s there to choose from? There are thousands/millions of Filipinos who believe that the current VP is not capable to do so, but there are more who believed he can — when they elected him along with her in the last elections. Tainted with fraud as it may have been, that last election, nevertheless, had placed them (President and VP) in their current seats. And, if the nation cannot remove either or both of them from their seats, then there’s no other way but for the people to let them finish their terms but closely watching them with vigilant eyes and corresponding vigilant action, such as what’s happening today — perhaps, until such time that the people have gathered enough courage and strength to force a critical change without bloodshed.
Assuming that the VP replaces the President, and if he performs/behaves like the person he replaced, then we know that the people can replace him, too, anytime, perhaps easier than when the same people mandated the ouster of the President. So, whether we believe or not in the “capability” of the VP to lead the nation, we must learn to accept the fact that life is [about] taking risks. Life is asking questions without expecting to get all the answers within our lifetime.

Constitutional successor, yes, Noli is.
I agree.
Provided that the grounds to succeed are those enumerated in the Constitution and not one of those Cory is espousing, that is bully the sitting presidents not by force majeure but by muscle and brawn of mob people;
Provided that the seat of government will be transferred from Manila to Cebu or Ilocos for the reason that the president is always in the harm’s way; and if Malacanang is in the place mentioned, then it will be hard for Cory or Binay to gather people for they will have to take a shipload and planeload of rallyists;
Provided that the senate will focus only on legislation and not investigation and have moratorium on impeachment until He finished his term;
Provided that the bishops and priests will refrain from making statements detrimental to the State and government and not engaged in politics but on pastoral message;
Provided that any whistle blower will be examined, investigated first by the police, ombudsman, NBI and after establishing that there is really a probable cause to proceed then such report will be submitted to the Senate for further investigation with media blackout so as not to infuriate people;
Provided that any whistle blower whose ultimate motive is to malign, bismirch the president with charges of unsubstantiated allegation of corruption should be prosecuted in the court of law to prevent the occurence of the same;
Lastly, always commend the military for being neutral and adhering to the constitution.
Then I can say that Noli is capable, able, legitimate, and constitutional successor to the president.

No ending corruption under the bogus regime of Gloria Arroyo! Is this the PRESIDENT YOU’RE PROTECTING?! Is this the type of PRESIDENT YOU WANT TO LEAD THE COUNTRY?!. If it is, The philippines surely going down under.

I prefer VP Noli since he is the constitutional successor than the rule of the mob.
The challenge now is for the voters to vote wisely.
And if some still have reservations, I think there’s a need to change the system. Automated elections, shorter term for the presidency, allow them to run for a second term to reward good performance, etc. The ball is in the hands of the legislators, they are the ones who should change the system. Please do your work and please stop early campaigning and endless grandstanding. Do your research / homework properly.

Its doesn’t matter if you vote wisely if the comelec the one doing the dag dag bawas operation. Hindi ba kaya naging FAKE PRESIDENT si Gloria Arroyo, Ng dahil sa comelec the one doing the cheating operation for Gloria Arroyo,…Thats means these people are corrupt to high heaven. They should be replace and hired somebody who can do the job honestly. Pero Mahirap yan! halos lahat sila mabibili. Iyan lang ang problem.

gerry…i think you are right, she is the same one w/ difft. pseudonyms. i wonder why? i think she is the one who told the whole world she is earning more than $80,000 ann.
;-(( but, everyone is entitled to her own style and pambobola hahaha.
let’s look at bush’ boo-boos in america….
he has made a big big mess of their econ., when he assumed office, clinton left a big surplus, now they are buried in deep deficits, in trillions of $.
he got 3,000 us soldiers killed in iraq…
so many are homeless, so many are out of work, so many are w/o health care and dying, BUT, do the americans go out into the streets and demand bush’ resignaton? NO…they WAIT for the nov. 8 elections. the rule of law is honored. hindi nila type ang people power.
reading phil-am history shows, we were granted our independence bec. in one of the deliberations in congress then, the us lawmakers found out that filipinos are very emotional lot…puro emotion, hindi rational. it was parang, sige, bigyan na yan ng independence ang mga yan, masyadong magulo, mareklamo, ma-emosyon, brouhaha, much ado abt. nothing, etc..
are we really like this? pure emotion, not dealing w/ reason?
xxxxxxxxxx
How do you know nagbobola lang siya? Ah, Kasi si Gloria Arroyo, Has been doing that to the filipino people thats why ha? he he he he.
You can’t compare Mr. Bush to Gloria Arroyo, First of all Pres, Bush is not robbing the government coffer, If he is he be in jail already. But there is solid evidence against Gloria Arroyo, For being corrupted she is not in jail for a simple reason she control the entire corrupt justice system. and she is using the taxespayer’s money to buy them off. Thats the different these two!

Emotions + Greed = Disaster
Thats where we are heading if we let this so called moralist and guardians of democracy succeed. The senators, their greed for the presidency, Cory her greed to keep Hacienda Luisita, Erap his greed to keep his ill-gotten wealth, JDV and family their greed to recover lost kickbacks in the ZTE deal, the catholic church, their greed for control. The only ingredient missing is “emotions” and thats where Juan dela Cruz comes in.
