WE believe that what happened last Friday was excellent considering there were new faces there, and people are empowered. People must be empowered so that the government cannot be left to their own devices and get away with corruption.
But with all this talk about Mrs. [Gloria Macapagal-]Arroyo leading the fight against corruption, she still has to answer for all the scandals that are being hurled against her. We all need closure from them. Her answers cannot just be half-truths, but the whole truth and nothing but the truth if she wants our trust back. It is very difficult to put that trust back once it is betrayed especially when the one accused does not even seem to take the accusations affecting public interest seriously.
If she does not speak up and tell the truth, it may be as well that Mr. [Benjamin] Abalos be the one to speak out and tell us the truth and let the compassion of people be set behind him and support him instead of Mrs. Arroyo. How long does Mrs. Arroyo plan to leave the country in distress like this? How long is she going to keep this up, and even during the Lenten season? For how long?

i have seen corruption in different forms when i was in govt. in the mid-90’s, way before gma’s term. i have to leave, lest i become rotten myself. or, i might end up in pasig river if i do not join in their racket ;-((
missy is right, so many good people are staying away from politics and govt. service.
but, as i have elucidated before, corruption has been here since macapagal sr.’s time, until now. can this be eradicated if we remove gma now, before 2010? we can dream on!
the one important value that sadly, most filipinos lack is the lack of a sense of nationhood. that is the root cause of corruption. the value of being “makasarili” and the absence of the love for country, is prevalent. some historians have attributed this malady to our nation being composed of islands, separated by bodies of water, hence, unity is hard to achieve.
parochial thinking is the norm, and not thinking for the common good of the whole populace.

i fell in love with palawan, its natural beauty, its people…life is simple here but majority of filipinos is not aware of major undertakings the provincial govt is pushing tru with blessing from DENR bos and definitely with go signal from malacanang…this is one of multi-million or should I say mulit-billion midnight deals the gma etal is negotiating sacrificing the welfare of Palawenos…here the governor is tagged as equally-corrupt but still he projects an image of masa…siguro mawala lang mga ganitong tao sa gobyerno, mga public officials na walang kabusugan sa kapangyarihan at kayamanan baka sakaling may pag-asa pa ang ating bansang minamahal…the election is almost near two years, if you are a responsible filipinos in your own little way educate filipino voters, we can at least provide them ideas that our “vote” is more powerful than any rich politico..comelec reorganization is slowly inturtle-pace but kahit pano in two years time mareporma electoral system and well have a more credible and honest elections come 2010.
If you have any knowledge of corruption, basta totoo lang dont be ashame to inform to those ordinary filipinos para maliwanagan at mabigyan ng malinaw na impormasyon, coz our fellow filiinos are also searching for truth and honesty..unti unti pero the more we provide them info about the corrupt practices of our public officials, maaalala nila yun at kahit paano magkakaroon sila ng ideas about real issues concerning our politicians…do your part, dont be afraid..ang pagbabago na sa atin its only matter how you impart new ideas toward good governance and accountability…basta totoo facts mo dont be afraid to shout and tell to other filipinos the corrupt politicos..God save the Philippines

im so happy that no matter how polarize our ideas, we have only one dream a progressive and stable philippines for the next generations of filipinos..but no matter how i tried to think that this govt is working for the best interest of filipinos the more im saddened with the realization that the problem is gma etal-the malacanang mafia and arroyo corrupt-poration is inflicting long term catastrophe to our beloved country…im here in palawan and the major issue here is the entry of major players in the mining industry who want to conduct full scale mining operation and because of patronage politics and loyalty of the equally-corrupt gov joel reyes more or less even the strong opposition of the Puerto Princesa Mayor the said undertakings will push thru in two years time…im so ashame how corruptio destroy our resources, how our politics persuade seemingly good people in conniving with these corrupt people and with Atienza in DENR you may now get the overall picture of how gma etal, atienza and gov. joel reyes will enrich themselves…sana naman magsama samang kumilos ang mamamayan sa mga ganitong isyu coz the moment na mag open ang mga future mining sites, environmental catastrophe is in the making after the marcopper, after the rapu-rapu…halos binebenta na nila lahat ng yaman ng pinas..God save the Philippines

“I hear always the admonishment of my friends:
‘Bolt her in, and constrain her!’
But who will watch the watchmen?
The wife arranges accordingly, and begins with them.”
YOU CANNOT LET A THIEF DO AN ACCOUNTING OF HERSELF. How foolish of the bishops to think so. The solution that works is always a simple one:
GMA has to go!
