WE believe that what happened last Friday was excellent considering there were new faces there, and people are empowered. People must be empowered so that the government cannot be left to their own devices and get away with corruption.
But with all this talk about Mrs. [Gloria Macapagal-]Arroyo leading the fight against corruption, she still has to answer for all the scandals that are being hurled against her. We all need closure from them. Her answers cannot just be half-truths, but the whole truth and nothing but the truth if she wants our trust back. It is very difficult to put that trust back once it is betrayed especially when the one accused does not even seem to take the accusations affecting public interest seriously.
If she does not speak up and tell the truth, it may be as well that Mr. [Benjamin] Abalos be the one to speak out and tell us the truth and let the compassion of people be set behind him and support him instead of Mrs. Arroyo. How long does Mrs. Arroyo plan to leave the country in distress like this? How long is she going to keep this up, and even during the Lenten season? For how long?

The President had made it very clear that she will not resign but will serve her mandated term until 2010. For me it's very disgusting to see many people including brilliant academician from UP, La Salle etc. being easily swayed by the half-truths and half lies of Jun Lozada under the malicious guidance and supervision of Mr. Kuratong Baleleng Senator Lacson in cohorts with highly irresponsible Madrigal. I am also appalled to see hordes of proven/allege corrupt politicians like Erap, Cory, Binay, de Venecia, Lozada etc. denouncing an allege corrupt President. I urge the opposition leaders to please stop using people for their selfish interest to grab power. If indeed you have concrete evidence and not just hearsays and rumors please bring your accusation to the proper court of law. Imagine if the rallies will become violent and some faction of the military will side with the rallyists there is a great danger that there will be bloodshed and who will take the responsibility?
its a good thing you mentioned the kuratong baleleng and the highly irresponsible madrigal..let's talk about her boo-boos....lst, the fgi in the marginal note w/c she said means fg, hindi pala. taga-neda na fgi.
2nd hirit, she is insinuating gen. corpus to be w/ lozada in china to look at the xray customs machines daw...what this senator did not say was corpus was in china then re his project at denr re seeds for reforestation, the chinese people toured them later to sell their wares. alam mo naman ang chinese when it comes to business.
she is malicious and irresponsible. she should do her homework on corpus or anyone before she makes accusations. baka maawa sya dahil very simple-living lang ang general na ito. she is destroying people's reputation.
senator madrigal, fire your staff, they are out to destroy you by your many boo-boos! wake up..
natros, r u stupid or just being blind?
gma is lying ever since and her crime against the filipino people keeps on filing like mountain of trash. maraming trapos, but mas maraming trapos behind gma...opposition are not opting to grab power or to destabilize the country as they always claim but anomalies, controversies and scandals keeps on coming out even they hide it.
and if your issue is bloodshed because of mass protest look again stupid natros its gma military who should be the protector of the people is being used by this fake government...and if your issue is so called "economic gains" under gmas reign look again stupid natros there are millions of filipinos starving to death. the national debt ballooned to USD 52B just imagine how much debt this government beg just to run the country...puros palamuti lang lahat...natros im sure you belong to malacanang media brigade to counter any bad publicity against gma, how much money pgma spend just to uplift her image and her so called economic gains? walk of unity? another stupid idea because those local government officials are the trapos and corrupt that continue to destroy the institution, political dynasty con familia corrupt-poration...and the military? do you know how much money they get especially rank major and up just to pledge support to gma? stupid natros...kawawa ka naman bulag ka sa katotohanan, shame on all corrupt people!
Fishing expeditions, allegations, rumors and hearsays, half truth peddlers in the company of senate witnesses and pestering rallies. These are the only items the senate investigations are all about. What a waste of time and unproductive as well that is hurting the economy, threathening peace and instability of the nation. This should stop once and for all before its too late.
GMA really has to go! Her lies being patent and pathogenic.
Natros, keep your thoughts to yourself. Silence is wisdom when speaking is folly.
It must truly be disgusting for you to see brilliant people being "swayed" to join the call for truth and accountability. It merely shows, however, that they are capable of reasoning while you are not.
Your call to inaction reflects not only the timidness of your body but also of your mind. Heaven puts a proper price on things: democracy and truth do not come cheap.
When the blood of the innocent is asked to be spilled in the altar of sacrifice, rest assured that a corrupted one such as yourself would not be called.
hey ms. uy.. do you think the people who are against ms. aroyo will believe her even if she tell them that she is innocent? for sure they will all say she is lying.. a liar! do u understand what i'm trying to say? those people are on the opposition's side. their only goal is to discredit ms. aroyo, to put down her government so they could take over, & why are they too eager to unsit her? why can't they wait til the 2010 presedential election? that's the big question..
Answer?? if i am not mistaken she and her allies have answered to it already. The problem for us is we want that her/his answer is in accordance with what we like to hear... we wanted her to admit on all these alligations.
Whats the point of asking her to answer if we will not believe on what she says??
Kulit nyo... o bingi kayo...
What is the truth? The truth is Arroyo and her officials are corrupt, as well as erap and ramos, as well as all the senators and congressmen, as well as 99% of all the governors, mayors and barangay captains.
Those who refuse to believe this are either too naive or fools.
So who will save this country from its eventual demise?
Ohh, I forgot the bishops.
To Natros:
Are you implying that the majority of Filipino people are being swayed by the oppositional leaders? You accused Lozada of lying but you did not present any "concrete" evidence about his lies. You have seen (I hope) the zte hearings. You have to be an idiot, or in denial, not to see how the pro-arroyo witnesses/senators were lying through their teeths. It only takes an ounce of intelligence and common sense to know who was telling the truth during the senate hearings.
You mentioned the proven/alleged corrupt politicians like ERAP, Binay, Cory, and Lozada. Huh? Just for the sake of argument, I will agree with you that all of the above are corrupt. Does it make it right not to castigate GMA and her cohorts for their corruptness? You failed to mention the alleged corruption of FVR? Why is that? Is it because he is a two faced opportunistic corrupt ex-president?
Once again, my dear friend, may I remind you that you too, did not provide any concrete evidence of Cory's, Lozada's, and Binay's corruption. You clearly resorted to hearsay as well.
I urge the filipino people to stand up against corruption regardless who it is.. or who they are. You have to be a GMA blind loyalist to say that she and her cohorts are not corrupt based on what you have heard or seen in the media. Now.. please do not give me the crappola about the media being biased. The media in general is not biased. If you believe that the media is biased against GMA, I wonder where you get your insights about all this political brouhaha? I suppose you resort to hearsays.. and you condemn the people of the same thing that you are guilty of doing? Last time I checked the dictionary.. it is defined as hypocrisy.
Good day
It's quite difficult to do that considering Arroyo has the Ombudsman by the neck. Even in the SC, they are now appointed by Arroyo. And what about the SC? Were they not the root of all this fiasco specially Davide by "inventing" a never found anywhere in the constitution "constructive resignation" to justify a military junta giving birth to a power hungry and super corrupt, not to mention super liar being that is now the president? How many more do you want to hear to wake up to the truth?
Maybe, you're the one who weren't able the see the truth and still blindly believe Arroyo.
You answered you're own question, brilliant academicians from UP, Ateneo, etc. has seen the truth because they are... brilliant.
It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know what is happening around us.
Don't tell me you believe the blatant lies of Manuel Gaite, Defensor, et. al. compared to Lozada?
Puhhhhhhllleeeaaaazzze!
She should not resign because she was elected BY THE PEOPLE regardless of what the opposition says. Nothing was proven - all were hearsay. When was the last time that we had an election without everyone accusing each other of cheating - NONE to my recollection. NOT ONE of these politicians is honest. In my opinion, the COMELEC is the most corrupt government agency in this country. They are so inept that they couldn't prevent cheating even in the smallest of the provinces. SECOND to them is the PNP and AFP who let people cheat right in front of their eyes. They are scared because they are also 'tuta' to these politicians. THIRD is the Supreme Court who would/could not prosecute anyone caught cheating especially if someone belongs to the upper echelon of the society. They lost my respect. But let's face it - all of us - one way or another, contributed to the sorry state of our country. Let's look in the mirror and honestly ask ourselves - what did I do to help fix the problem? Let's start fixing our own corruption before blaming someone else - and then, maybe, we can make a difference. Stop asking for favors, stop kumadre/kumpadre system. Start complaining to the proper authorities if someone requires you to give 'lagay' to get something done. Let our voices be heard - you don't need to join the rally and create a nightmare traffic jams with no result. If no one listens, take it to the press so they can expose corruption in that branch of government. If you are ignored by the press because you are 'nothing', keep trying - you may find someone who would listen and then you can also expose the press who ignored you. That is their job. Press can be corrupt too. E-mail is one of the best communication tool for you to be heard. We have to expose all the anomalies not only of the government, but individuals who are contributing to the corruption. Do not be scared! BUT before you accuse, make sure you have some evidence, not just hearsay. Let's not get our emotion get the best of us. We have be fair. NOTHING WILL CHANGE UNTIL WE START CHANGING OUR WAY OF THINKING.
Lets start NOW!
It's surprising how certain jerks, with short memory, in our society would invoke the rule of law when it applies to PGMA, while being silent to what GMA deed to Erap in 'PEOPLE POWER II'. This is a very good example of double standard using blatant lies as the basis for their so called truth. We are tired of so many lies emanating from liars in our government. This is why we have to go on the street again. I may not be an admirer of Jun Lozada, but what he said about a crook being replace by another crook would really frustrate our country from becoming at least “self sufficient”. We have “Cory where-in the bagman is her brother”, we have FVR who is a blubber mouth, making meaningless speeches, and has penchant of traveling abroad at the expense of the people’s tax, and Erap who is fan of petty crimes. And now, we have came face to face with the most cunning and formidable President who has committed TREASON, aside from being branded as the MOST corrupt. She employed a paranoid National Security adviser to eliminate people critical to her administration through murders and involuntary disappearance. She utilized the military/police to rig the Presidential Election to guarantee her position, and she also bribes the lower house to prevent her impeachment. She also appointed a lap-dog Head of Department of Justice, in the person of Raul Gonzales, to ward off any attempt against her. For me, this is a conspiracy of a government against its people. I am not particular what ideology we should adapt; I seek a government with highest standard of morality and integrity. The scare tactic used by our military to brand the people as terrorist, leftist, communist; for people who seek good governance is tawdry. I feel disappointed with our bishop for not expecting a stronger stand against corruption committed by our President, when all along, we learn that his niece is appointed as a one of the cabinet minister. We also learn that our President appointed someone as guess relation to tame the some Bishops. Alberto Romulo of Education is also a typical liar. How could he possibly use the word “corrupting the youth” by preventing Jun Lozada to be a guess speaker to public schools. The youth should be the fore front about corruption because they are the future citizen who will govern. They have the right to guarantee that their future because they are the ones who will shoulder the burden of paying these anomalous foreign loan. Shame to all of you who thrive on lies. The parliament of the street is guaranteed by the constitution through freedom of speech. It is the government who is at fault. .
In response to Ms. Uy of New Zealand, because I can't see any new faces of political leaders rallying so far against President Arroyo, in fact, those are same personalities (except for Jun Lozada)who had gone to the streets during EDSA-1 and EDSA-2..Those annoying faces of rightists and leftists groups who would rather sow discord in the streets of Manila, disrupt traffic, create chaos, promote lawlessness rather than air their grievances on the proper forum of our democratic institutions.
Here in America, people dilsike George Bush and his Iraq war policies and it is the most free nation in the world, but rarely yo can see the American people wasting their time in the streets abusing their freedom of the speech and assembly to denounce the government...But why, in our country, Filipinos loves political bickerings rather than working hard to improve their lives, blaming the gov't everytime of their predicament rather than relied on themselves so in general the Philippines can move forward.
Are we, Filipinos doesnt realised that the PROBLEM lies on us, unless we changed ourselves, there's no bright future for our hapless nation .

Most of filipino people want her to step down. But, She don't want to give up her stolen power because there is plenty of money to be while squatting in Malacanyang Palace. Can you really blame her. After all they didn't kick Erap, For nothing! As we all can see it the only reason they kick Erap, So that they're the one can rob the government coffer.

Gloria Arroyo, Is not the president of the philippines because she only stole her title from the duly elected President Jospeh Estrada, And she stole it again from Fernando Poe, Jr. In may 10, 2004. Presidential election. She's nothing but a liar and the biggest thieves.
Arroyo's back is now against the wall. Pretty soon, she will accept that no amount of covering up and lies can conceal the truth. As one of the letters to editors pointed out in today's paper, if GMA thinks that we believe all these web of lies and conspiracies she and her cohorts are employing, then she must have so little regard for our intelligence.
While it may be true that it is the opposition that will stand to benefit from this (we must not also be blind to the fact that some are there purely for grandstanding), it cannot be negated that all these accusations would have instantly fizzled out if they were simply fabricated.
GMA and her party, and maybe a number of others who at this point maybe tired of endless political bickering, propose to bring these issues to the proper forum. But when you see people like DOJ Secretary Gonzales or Ombudsman Merciditas Guttierez, aided by the fact that with GMA's money, she can and will hire suppossedly "brilliant" lawyers whom she can surely depend on to pull her out of this quagmire, can you honestly dare say that justice and truth be served?
PGMA should not listen to the demands of the NOISY minority. This is to stop the cycle of unconstitutional change of government. And to discourage these NOISY people in doing IRRITATING things that do not bring any good to our country, but still they are the ones pretending showing "CONCERN" for our country.
The question really should be.... how long does the Circus go on? We have 22 years of the current one and if you add the Marcos Vaudeville Acts we can make it 35 years. If there is once constant over the last 35 years it is GREED from elected officials. If anyone thinks removing and replacing the President AGAIN is going to change the vicious on going Circus cycle
I have a "news flash" for every one. It won't make any difference.
If we really want to play the blame game all we have to do is look into the mirror and see where the problem started.... It started with us! We keep putting clebs, dynasties, and sports figures into office and they have the ability to BUY their way into office and most gladly take the money come election time.
As for the Laws to be be created after the Senate Circus takes down the tent... your guess is a good as mine. It sure has been a long "In Aid of Legislation" matinée.... I'm falling asleep and the Senator's in the side show are suffering from falling popularity. Indeed..... more of the same.
Isn't Cory, Erap and Gloria rose to power through these street parliament? And yet these leaders failed us, so why go back to the streets again? The street is not the solution to the problem were facing now. It was tried and didnt work, in fact it was manipulated to serve the power grabbers. Would you let an equally corrupt Lozada to shape the thinking of your children? In his Adamson Univ, stint, students ask him about his extended family and he admitted it and showed remourse for doing it, he even ask forgiveness from the students, now what kind of message that gives to the youth?
The silent majority will only support a genuine change. Not a change clouded with conspiracy and greed. Look at how the opposition are clamouring to raise their rank. Theyre having a problem mustering a crowd from the class a-b of the society, so they tapped the students using religion as a cover. Feel so sorry for the parents of these students, they have to work all day just to send their children to a good catholic school for a proper education. And yet they are being educated at the streets, and next school year these schools will charge another 12% tuition fee increase.

on inconsistencies about gloria's claim for rule of law:
2001, erap was pressured by the people, he got an effective coup, he "left" his office. in case of vacancy according to the constitution gloria must take over. but the issue of erap's resignation is debatable so who can resolve it? not you or me. SC came in and they made a resolve with finality. erap did really vacated his post according to SC's interpretation of his letter. they may be wrong and but also they may be right but hey, they're SC. so which part of that violated the law?
on the issue of treason:
do you know what you're talking about? can you please explain which deal is this? hmmmm spratly's isn't it? which words, from drilon perhaps? a good lawyer and a former DOJ sec is mindless about scrutinizing an agreement and suddenly branding gloria for treason based on a partial personal consultation done 2004? cmon.
and the rest of your talk is like the rest of every dirty politician's talk, all talk that is. substantiate your foregone perceptions lady.
To Renel Carolipio,
The majority of Filipinos are tired of endless political bickerings, malicious accusations, and grandstanding in aid of political ambition.
Lozada himself admitted of committing irregularities (therefore also corrupt) while head of Phil. Forest Corp. and recently it was known that he had other "woman" . If you still believe that he is clean and honest person "bahala ka sa buhay mo". In my statement I said proven/alleged corrupt. The proven refers to Erap and Lozada while the alleged refers to Binay, Cory, De Venecia and include Ramos if you want. I did not say you should not castigate GMA for her alleged corruption what I don't agree is using the people to join rallies/people power to force a sitting President to resign. The Pres. has said that she will not resign. To force her is unconstitutional and therefore illegal. We are supposed to be a civilized country, we are not govern by the laws of the jungle. Let us allow the democratic processes to function and allow the rule of law to prevail.

Or they don't care because they have so much money anyway, that these are all just game for power this time?Poor ordinary Filipinos, caught in the middle of power struggle of your politicians...

You have to admit. Seeing Hilario Davide in a very Juicy position in government kind of takes away the Integrity of their decision.

I don't mind if the mistake the SC made in installing Gloria was an honest to goodness error in judgement. I can forgive that. But come on, you have to admit that certain Justices benefited from that.
The may be the SC. they may have the last say on any arguments of the law. But remember, they are also human .
If money can corrupt our Bishops who are supposedly God fearing...(and at relatively smaller amounts- else they would not fit in small white envelops)...
Do you think they (Justices) can resist huge sums of money being offered to them?
Again, you on the opposition side who wanted GMA to resign..havent laid out a clear plan yet..on who you would want to replace GMA...
as far as I know, the refcent development is:
Erap claims to have the constitutional right to replace GMA and he is very willing.
THe left (militanteng walang silbi), would like to have a transitional Govt
Noli de Castro, who is now starting to show interest to replace GMA (dahil sa pag-uuto ng kanyang mga adviser at ng ABS-CBN..ang pwet na hinahalikan nya)..
ROxas,
Villar,
Trillanes...

i dont have to admit anything here. you cant push me to even admit your words. they are your presumptions, you stand on that. but i can say with all certainty that you can not even prove own words. you can not even answer my question.
and on your question if the collegial body can be bribed, i dont think they can be. (or maybe otherwise but that is something i can not answer.) and if you believe so, that's a huge accusation from your part. a way too cynical view on one of the institutions that holds our social fabric together.
that "certain justices" you're talking about is interesting. mind sharing your allegations?
Hilario Davide is the worst kind of Head of Supreme Court. Out of delicadeza, he should have refrain from accepting a government position after he administered the Oath of Office to PGMA during the EDZA II people power. After being the Head of Supreme Court, his credibility is next to none. He became a puppet of PGMA. Worst, he overturn the "No mining law" which cause the displacement and exploitation of people in the hinterland, the inundation and erosion of fertile soil resulting to flash floods, and the widespread toxic poisons caused by mining activities. In fact, he was unsuccessfully impeach by IBP for corruption. This only shows that SC members are really humans which is prone to corruptions. Hoodlums in robe?

If they're not going to investagate all the corruption that is hounding the bogus regime of Gloria Arroyo, lahat nalang nakawin nila. Iyan ba ang gosto mo. If they want to be President let them its their right to do whatever they want to do.
We have to be vigilant to safeguard our democracy from corrupt politicians. In the present administration of PGMA, it is next to impossible to remove her other than the Parliament of the Street. Our politicians are getting more and more smart in their crave to power. Now they employ murder; you can count all the killings in the last election and involuntary disappearance. They cheat; using the 'Garci Generals'. They squander peoples tax money; bribing the lower house of Representatives. And they even have an office to placate the Bishops; so the Bishops can mellow down their verdict. And learning from the past mistakes of previous Presidents, PGMA is a force to reckon with. PGMA and her minions have honed their skim in cheating their people. Her administration has bag making the most lies in Philippine history. They have almost reached, what other people say, the pinnacle of denying. The suggestion of bringing the complaints in the proper court is tantamount to saying; do battle with me in my own terms. If you have seen the proceedings in the Ombudsman’s investigation, you can right away deduct the partiality of the investigating body. So, why walk to a booby trap. Parliament of the street is a last recourse if all other venue fails. Can’t you see the hoodlums in robe? That is why there is such thing as people power because the real power is on the people.
GLORIA must stay until the Philippines become first world. If we achieve that, no need to worry about corruption... there is so much money that people wont mind about it anymore.
US, Europe, China, and other country also has corruption... since they are already rich nation, we dont hear them as we do it here. We in the Philippines like to dispaly our dirty selves.... we wanted to show to the world that we are corrupt... I dont know but we want to make ourselves dirty.
Kung baga, para tayong sadista, gustong gusto natin na tayo ay nasasaktan.
Many have been said, many have been taken.
And yet nobody won't stop. The senate is still in its NBNZTE investigation. The boring monotonous investigation.
Why this won't stop?
First, the investigation is televised. Our senators have been freely advetised, gratis amores. And what that means, they getting ready for next election. Whatever maybe.
Secondly, our news thrives on scandal. If a news is sensationalized, it is talk of the town, much more if it is on the highest anomaly of the land, and magnify ten times.... selling lot a hotcakes.
On the other side, Cory and company, because she was the beneficiary of people power kuno, from being a housewife to president, she thinks that she can repeat the same for the third time.
Of course, what kind of senators we have today, a businessman from divisoria, a police officer, a juice jamby, then you can have a sarsuela in palengke.
Gone are the days when our senators were trained first in america to learn parliamenatry procedures just like camilo osias, paredes and the like.
And lastly, people should learn the american way... these are their everyday words.
No big deal, I don't care, pain in the ass, I 'll be darn, doggone days and damn it.
Meaning... take everything for granted and do our lives.

And to discourage these NOISY people in doing IRRITATING things that do not bring any good to our country, but still they are the ones pretending showing “CONCERN” for our country.

why should she listen to the filipino people cry for her to step down, when she already been saying she is not going to step down. never never never never because there is plenty of money to be made while squatting in malacanyang palace. TALAGA KAWATAN she is the problem get rid of her.
What's happening in our country. When Marcos was ousted, I was glad that our country was at last saved from an evil dictator. That our country will prosper again. Unfortunately it only worsened. Another Marcos is in the making.
I kept asking why this "only christian nation in Asia" is sinking in moral disgrace. Until I came accross an article in the net detailing the "signs of the end times". This may sound silly or crazy. But I don't care.
The Apostle Paul, speaking as a prophet, says that society will descend into a black pit of immorality, violence, and paganism (2 Timothy 3:1-5). He asserts that men will be "lovers of self, lovers of money, and lovers of pleasure."
Can't we see how "evil" and "wicked" our government is? According to Neri himself, "GMA is evil." He sounds so reliable because Neri knows GMA so much. What more can we expect? She is trapped in the web of evilness she has spunned. She is surrounded by evil cohorts and cabals of lie-makers who has sold their honor and dignity for the sake of money, power and greediness.
These people have reached the point of no return from their wickedness. Their greediness has no equivalent scale of today's industrial standards.
Poor us Filipino Indios. We were sank deeply with apathy by self-serving, money-lovers gov't officials. We are sinking back the time of Jose Rizal when even religious leaders are becoming caloused of the injustice around us in 24/7 basis. Evil, wickedness, deceit corruption has become a norm of our national way of life. In short... "we are a doomed country." because our leaders have turned their back from justice, truth and patriotism. may our country Rest in Peace.
Mark, if you do not trust anyone, why don't you run for president. Then abolish all the government positions. Do everything by yourself.
Or best of all, live alone in an island.
Here is a fact:
The value of Halliburton's Iraq contracts has crossed the $10 billion threshold. Halliburton has now received $8.3 billion in Iraq work under its LOGCAP troop support contract and $2.5 billion under its no-bid Restore Iraqi Oil (RIO) contract, a total of $10.8 billion.
In December 2003, a DCAA draft audit reported that Halliburton overcharged the Defense Department by $61 million to import gasoline into Iraq from Kuwait through September 30, 2003. (4)
When DCAA examined seven LOGCAP task orders with a combined proposed value of $4.33 billion, auditors identified unsupported costs totaling $1.82 billion. (11)
The Justice Department is investigating Halliburton's admission that two of its employees received up to $6.3 million in kickbacks to steer LOGCAP subcontracts to a Kuwaiti contractor.
Marie deYoung, a Halliburton logistics specialist, testified about subcontracts under which Halliburton paid $45 per case of soda and $100 per 15-pound bag of laundry. Ms. deYoung also disclosed that Halliburton did not comply with the Army's request to move Halliburton employees from a five-star hotel in Kuwait, where it cost taxpayers approximately $10,000 per day to house the employees, into air-conditioned tent facilities, which would have cost taxpayers under $600 per day. (15)
Points to ponder:
The COA of the US is doing an audit work while our Senate is doing the investigation.
My point is how could the Philippine Senate investigation produce results where there are no facts, no figures, no amount, no numbers but only "he hears, he says".
Secondly, there should be an audit report first before the investigation, there was none.
Look at the amount involved by the Halliburton contract, the NBNZTE deal pales in comparison, yet americans are not in the street accusing the president of corruption and should resign.
The facts in halliburton don't lie, the figures don't lie and audit report don't lie while Lozada cannot produce any contract, any figures and he is a liar.
We filipinos should use reason and logic and not emotion.
We are educated, we are literate and we are knowledgeable, then we should not believe Lozada.

To Renel Carolipio,
The majority of Filipinos are tired of endless political bickerings, malicious accusations, and grandstanding in aid of political ambition.
Lozada himself admitted of committing irregularities (therefore also corrupt) while head of Phil. Forest Corp. and recently it was known that he had other “woman” . If you still believe that he is clean and honest person “bahala ka sa buhay mo”. In my statement I said proven/alleged corrupt. The proven refers to Erap and Lozada while the alleged refers to Binay, Cory, De Venecia and include Ramos if you want. I did not say you should not castigate GMA for her alleged corruption what I don’t agree is using the people to join rallies/people power to force a sitting President to resign. The Pres. has said that she will not resign. To force her is unconstitutional and therefore illegal. We are supposed to be a civilized country, we are not govern by the laws of the jungle. Let us allow the democratic processes to function and allow the rule of law to prevail.

If we want to move forward get rid of Gloria Arroyo, Et al. Because they're the problem. Yes, The marjority of 68% filipino people want her out from her stolen power. she is nothing but a liar and corrupted fake president of cebu.
The problem is, if we oust her, who can we place? If Noli should, he should only stay til 2010 and no more. How about in the opposition? Unfortunately, one feels that they are just as guilty as this present office and Erap is no saint. One's suggestion is to ask the president to be answerable first, after all she is the commander-in-chief therefore she must be answerable to her subordinates (hubbys, kids and leeches included).
The letter writer seeks closure to the allegations against GMA and rightly so. The problem is allegations can never stand in the court of law without solid evidence and proven credibility of witnesses. How much more in the Senate which is not a court of law? Erap could not be convicted, let alone found guilty, at his impeachment because the Senate is not a judicial forum. Similarly, the House has protected GMA from impeachment even if they knew there was probable cause.
To date the Senate ZTE hearings have produced enough materials to aid the senators in what primarily the purpose of this investigation i.e., in aid of legislation, to craft the necessary legislation that will cover loopholes in government procurement policies. It's about time the Senate endorsed the ZTE issue to the Ombudsman whose job is to investigate the case thoroughly and file corresponding criminal charges against the personalities before the Sandiganbayan. This was done in Erap's case and this is what should be done now. It doesn't matter if GMA cannot be charged now if she is found to be liable, because of her presidential immunity. She can be charged later when she ends her mandate in 2010.
It is also unfair and without justification what others say that the Ombudsman and the Sandigan cannot be trusted to rule justiceably because they are appointees of GMA. That is like saying they have no faith in the Supreme Court where all justices are virtually the president's appointees, and yet they believe the SC when it rules against the president.
GMA is not going to resign no matter how low her popularity rating becomes. For her, this is not a popularity game. Her inner strength is bolstered by the fact that while she has become the most unpopular president, worse than Erap perhaps, yet the people will not go out to the streets to join those who demand her resignation. It will take much more than 20 or 30,000 that gathered at the Makati business district a week ago to shatter her nerves. GMA knows she's within her constitutional right to remain steadfast for as long as these allegations have not been proven beyond reasonable doubt. She will remain steadfast for as long as the crowd demanding her resignation constitutes largely of leftist communist NPA sympathizers in the civil society groups and Erap's opposition. Notwithstanding fresh witnesses from Ping Lacson’s Witness Academy, GMA will stay on because of the absence of a charismatic Cardinal Sin now that even the religious is a house divided. GMA will remain President until 2010 unless the military withdraws support before then. That is the political reality.
The senators must end the senate hearings now and endorse the case to the Ombudsman before the case becomes stale and goes the way other senate investigations meet their end and forgotten... in the archives.
Remember the scandals that involved Sen. Ping Lacson which were investigated by three senate committees that found probable cause to recommend the filing of kidnap-for-ransom and drug-trafficking charges against Senator Lacson.
(See this link: http://www.mapinc.org/drugnews/v02/n1038/a05.html)
The Senate committee report No. 66 on the senate investigations was quietly shelved, archived and conveniently forgotten. Lacson was never investigated. There was no closure to this either. I hope someone in the Senate will reopen the case. If closure is sought to the ZTE deal involving GMA, closure must be sought too by Lacson to clear his name or be damned as kidnapper and drug trafficker forever.

It’s quite difficult to do that considering Arroyo has the Ombudsman by the neck. Even in the SC, they are now appointed by Arroyo. And what about the SC? Were they not the root of all this fiasco specially Davide by “inventing” a never found anywhere in the constitution “constructive resignation” to justify a military junta giving birth to a power hungry and super corrupt, not to mention super liar being that is now the president? How many more do you want to hear to wake up to the truth?

she control the entire corrupt justice system because she had the taxespayer's money to buy them off.
