AS a law dean, this priest from San Beda should stop making comments such as calling senators childish.
First of all, as a law dean he should refrain from making comments unless he speaks for the whole San Beda law school. As a priest, he should reserve his comments to himself unless he wants to go into politics. As a regular reactor to news publications, he should do so but not under the cloak as a priest or as a dean. Then I will welcome his comments.
Please don’t mock your school name or your students. And calling the senators childish reminds me of my teachers in grade school. Yes, we deserved then to be called childish but calling the senators at this time childish for doing their jobs is a behavior that this priest dean has not overcome yet, his being at one time a grade school teacher. If you want to be a regular critic for or against political issues, unless you want to compromise your position as dean, then stop addressing yourself as priest dean.
Meanwhile, the reaction of the senators to the Supreme Court decision is normal since the Senate is a co-equal body under our Constitution. The SC decision drew a lot of reactions from the public as well as private sector. What I have learned from my political science professors is that the SC ’s role is merely to interpret the law and to keep in mind that the rationale behind such law is to protect the Constitution and to protect the interest of all and not one person who in this case is the appellant. The SC decision unless reversed will send signals from hereon that it’s all right to report a crime and then cover it up by invoking executive privilege.
Under our present laws, if you deliberately engage in a cover-up of a crime then you are equally liable for it even though you did not commit it. I rest my case and I hope this priest dean would do the same.

I pity erwin and the one named esperanza that they had jumped into conclusion or joined the bandwagon of fanfare but without establishing credible proof. I perceived they are FANS of the kicked out ERAP ESTRADA.
The dean maybe right calling the senators childish.
Look at how JINGGOY ESTRADA howls when questioning a witness, PING LACSON, disgruntled on his failed expectations and JAMBY MADRIGAL’S loose canon questioning. You really believe these senators deserve to be called “honorable” with their dirty antics?
These senators deserves to be called childish. Perhaps LOSERS would be more convincing!

i have read the san beda grad sch. law dean’s take on various issues and i must say he is fair and discusses the issues in a very scholarly manner.
why do some people get mad at the dean when his opinions do not conform w/ what is “popular”?
were they angry too when the deans of other schools like feu, up and ateneo guest on anc tv to criticize the sc decision?
talaga naman nag-tantrums ang mga senador e, kasi hindi nasunod ang gusto nila. pero kapag ayon sa gusto nila ang sc decisions like the state of emergency or the beltran et al, naku, puro praise yan.
be fair. let us hear both sides.

If I’m reading the dean’s statement properly, he wasn’t directly calling the senators “childish.”
So, what’s the issue here? Are our politicos too onion-skinned to take a little bit of name-calling? It happens everyday to almost everybody.
Get over it.
Besides, calling them “childish” is putting it lightly.

Mr. Ysaac’s argument does a lot of poisoning the well. The word “childish” seems to be a ‘catch word’ that muddles Fr. Rahnie’s arguments for the SC’s 9-6 decision in Neri vs. Senate. CJ Puno’s dissenting opinion is well-argued, but the majority rules in this case. This is Fr. Rahnie’s point in calling the Senate to respect the ‘rule of law’. It is, maybe and sadly, a bad decision, a bad precedent, but, it is a decision we have to live with, however harsh, for it is after all, a decision grounded on the constitutional duty of the SC to interpret the law, i.e. executive privilege. The only option if people don’t respect the rule of law is to overthrow this government, which is less favorable to us. Democracy is bad, but the other options are much, much worse.
