On San Beda law dean calling senators ‘childish’

AS a law dean, this priest from San Beda should stop making comments such as calling senators childish.

First of all, as a law dean he should refrain from making comments unless he speaks for the whole San Beda law school. As a priest, he should reserve his comments to himself unless he wants to go into politics. As a regular reactor to news publications, he should do so but not under the cloak as a priest or as a dean. Then I will welcome his comments.

Please don’t mock your school name or your students. And calling the senators childish reminds me of my teachers in grade school. Yes, we deserved then to be called childish but calling the senators at this time childish for doing their jobs is a behavior that this priest dean has not overcome yet, his being at one time a grade school teacher. If you want to be a regular critic for or against political issues, unless you want to compromise your position as dean, then stop addressing yourself as priest dean.

Meanwhile, the reaction of the senators to the Supreme Court decision is normal since the Senate is a co-equal body under our Constitution. The SC decision drew a lot of reactions from the public as well as private sector. What I have learned from my political science professors is that the SC ’s role is merely to interpret the law and to keep in mind that the rationale behind such law is to protect the Constitution and to protect the interest of all and not one person who in this case is the appellant. The SC decision unless reversed will send signals from hereon that it’s all right to report a crime and then cover it up by invoking executive privilege.

Under our present laws, if you deliberately engage in a cover-up of a crime then you are equally liable for it even though you did not commit it. I rest my case and I hope this priest dean would do the same.

The priest law dean is right.
He is right in calling these senators childish who cannot accept when the supreme court says stop on their NBN investigation.
It is what we call rule of law. It is what we call separation of powers. It is what we call check and balance. It is what we call democracy.
First thing first, the senators purpose in the investigation is not in aid of legislation. It is not for the betterment of the agreement. It is not in consonance of fusion of power between the senate and the executive.
Their main purpose is to malign the president, besmirch her reputation and to put her down. Though it is not a military coup it is a senate coup de etat.
We have seen the senate numerous investigation before and nothing came right and nothing came out law out of their aid of legislation investigation. It is all theatrical and it is all publicity.

The supreme court by the rule of majority imposed the sanction on the investigation. It is what we call check and balance on the abuse of power and discretion on the part of the senate and encroachment on the privelege communication of the executive and her cabinet as what we call careless whisper.

The senators must be men enough to accept the decision and not be acting like a child in tantrum. Senators are honorable and they should be, that’s why they are called statesmen.
I hope the senators have learned their lesson for they should not bully their little sister in the executive for big brother is watching in the supreme court.

The law dean is right. He based his opinion on constitutional law and not on canon law.

    Jerahmee Chen Says:

I believe his statements are fairly true. What do you call a group of men we call senators doing nothing but talk? Do you know what a senator is supposedly work on? Do you know that these senate hearings will end up nothing IF they don’t pass this to Ombudsman or the supreme court? The senators SHOULD stop acting like children and do their job!

    Ditto Andolini Says:

    Mr. Isaac:

Try to read the whole SC decision then make your reaction. Refrain from making a reaction basing it on what you heard or read in the media.
    That will help a lot…
