Dead rivers in RP

I THINK the government can and must do more to educate people on proper waste disposal and recycling.

Some places in the Philippines are observed to be a giant trash pit and because of individual habit and the “don’t care” attitude, more money is being used when calamities such as floods come. Furthermore, it’s a huge health issue which concerns everyone and costs the government millions.

Educate! Educate! Educate! Educate the masses. Provide social (barangay) seminars in all levels of society.

i think bayani and mmda are doing their job. it is the people living along the esteros who are to be blamed. because once mmda has dredged the esteros and rivers of their trash, they will throw their garbage again, once mmda has left! isn’t that pathetic?
and then these squatters blame mmda for the stench that the garbage create in the esteros too.
some sectors have alleged that living in the esteros is a source of corruption…those squattrs demand money from govt. first before they evacuate, and they do it for a living!
again, the sense of being “makasarili” and not thinking of the common good..
    ………………
If the rich’s don’t want the poor people to throw their trash in the street or river they should pick-up the trash that the poor people put in the street. Just like they’re picken up the trash where rich’s people live. Don’t you agree!

Cleaning our environment starts with us and not with the government. We dont throw our grabage in the river thinking its the government responsibility to clean it for us later. And then blame the govt if we see our thrash floating back to our homes. We must have discipline and responsibility if we want to preserve and improve our environment. Our famous “bahala na” system has to stop if we want the country to go positively forward.
