In her much ballyhooed State of the Nation Address (SONA), Arroyo did not hide the fact that she has done nothing during her term as President to alleviate the problems of the country when she proclaimed: “Our country and our people have never failed to be there for us. Let us be there for them.”
Now, “Why just now?” And while admitting that the Filipino people have been very patient with her scandal-ridden term, she adds insult to injury by continuing to put the burden of VAT on the shoulders of the masses. The very same people she acknowledges to have “footed the bill”….ang nag-salba sa bayan! Arroyo should step down, not because of her dipping popularity ratings, but because she has admittedly failed to lead the nation out of its doldrums!

Do the poor filipinos really care about the VAT?
I have asked hundreds of my relatives and friends about this value added tax and nobody knows about this VAT.
First of all, filipinos are not yet ready about tax. They don’t even know that whenever they buy cigarettes, there is tax in it.
The common expression is “ang mahal” ng sigarilyo but anyway nakakabili naman ng tingi o tips.
Vat or not, filipinos don’t care. makatips lang ng sigarilyo ok na kahit may VAT pa. Mababaw na kaligayahan

it is because when they thought everything was going smoothly, they were busy planning and thinking on how to make money out of Goverment projects. Our Goverment should learned from the story of the “ants and the grasshopper” or should I say “the ants and the crocodile”.

Napakadaling sabihin ng karamihan satin ngayon na “the President should step down” lalo na ang militanteng grupo. Ang hindi alam ng karamihan na ang tinatayong Presedente ay may “Divine Intervention” alam niyo bang kahit na masama ang Leader ng bansa ay itinatayo ito ng Diyos, sabi nya sa book of Psalms75:7″but God is the judge He putteth down one, and setteh up another” kaya nga hindi kalooban ng God ang against the Leader ang nais niya ay Ipanalangin ang leader. Noong sumulat si Paul kay Timothy in 1Timothy2:1-3Pray for your Kings or authority for this is good and acceptable to God. And it is written in Romans13;1-2 who resist the ordinaces of authority, resist the ordinances of God, and they that resist shall received to them damnation. Rebellious spirit ay rampant sa Pinas dahil sa Kastila noon, hanggang ngayon nandyan kahit sino pa ang maging Presidente mag oppose parin dahil ang nag wowork out dito ay spirit ng rebellion which is from the devil, that’s from the word of God. Jesus said “be of good seer i have overcome the world”
God bless the Philippines!!

Opinion from Abroad on SONA:
With all due respect, upon review of the SONA address by the current leadership, I have some thoughts to share regarding some excerpts from her speech. As with any speech from most any dignitary from anywhere in the world, there are some areas of opportunity, albeit there is not a nation in the world without her own distinctive problems. What I fail to understand is that when a government is presented with an issue that CAN be resolved, they sometimes fail to react. Arroyo states that her “responsibility as President is to take care to solve the problems we are facing now…” I have to say that although I disagree with many aspects of the Bush Administration in recent years, a capsized ship full of bodies and chemicals would NEVER, NEVER, NEVER be sitting stagnant in our waters a month or more after a disaster while corporations and government agencies banter back and forth over who is at fault and who is financing what. Arroyo also makes a brilliant yet seemingly empty statement, “Leadership is not about doing the first easy thing that comes to mind; it is about doing what is necessary, however hard.” Nobody, in the case of the MV Princess of the Stars tragedy is “doing what is necessary, however hard”, definitely not the “Leader”. The victim’s loved ones and the surrounding communities continue to suffer while Sulpicio Lines plays the blame game, and nobody steps in for the people, be it family members waiting for closure or the people impacted by the fishing ban in the region.
Another very disturbing quote in the address is the statement “Where government can contribute nothing useful, stay away. Let’s be more helpful, more courteous, more quick.” The U.S. sent help, and it was declined. We sent the closest ship we had in the region, yet the U.S.S. Reagan was kept at bay because of it’s nuclear capacity. Never mind the helicopter support, engineering capabilities, sonar, cranes, etc. “Courteous” and “quick” have certainly not come into play in this particular crisis. Unfortunately, there is a family of U.S. citizens somewhere in this mess, and ironically our own countrymen weren’t able to assist.
Finally, when I read “As your President, I care too much about this nation to let anyone stand in the way of our people’s well being.” Quid pro quo, the big shipping guru has been allowed to stand right there in the way, and although based on observation and fact should NEVER be in the business of transporting people again, or cargo for that matter since they are incapable of doing either responsibly. Just to show that I am not just an observer without corrective suggestion: a salvage company should have been brought in the next day to begin dismantling portions of the ship’s protruding hull, then sorted out and the recovery (at the time it is likely it could have been partly a rescue) process refined from that point.
This is an enormous travesty of justice to the victims and their families, and a blatant disregard for human life in general. For the government not to intervene and prolong the agony, makes this irreprehensible. This is a problem that could have been already on the road to recovery, unfortunately these decisions are all conveniently being left up to Sulpicio, who is doing NOTHING.
Pardon the expression, but Arroyo is “missing the boat” on this one as an opportunity, however small it may seem in the grand scale of a nation, has gone by in which to really make a difference in hundreds of lives.

i watched the latest batman movie entitled, “Dark Night”. my reaction…i got sleepy. am not sure if it was because i was tired from playing badminton earlier in the day or my soul was shutting off because the movie was not life giving . dark night indeed is very appropriate as title. films do reflect the times and somehow , the joker in the movie so much described what or who GMA represents. a man out to destroy whatever good is there . uplifting the bad and slowly squeezing out the life of hope. a man making a joke out of the true essence of life.
the gospel today speaks of finding true treasures and valuing these treasures . real treasure is one that uplifts you both physically, and spiritually. you may have money and power but if you are not careful, the joke will be on you and you end up losing your soul. think about it?
Valdemar
I dont even know what is the SONA, what should we hear. I guess its more appropriate to hear about the state of the presidency.

Ako ay neutral di ko binoto si Gloria pero wag natin blame ang presidente kasi we allow her to do what she is doing right now.
Eneza

I really couldn’t comprehend why God has endowed our President with so much intelligence and talent, fluency of her tongue, which she uses to subjugate, torment, and make the Filipino people suffer more than any other President in our nations’ history.
There is no doubt that our President is at home with her talent in extemporaneous speech, but her fluency is full of divisiveness, lies, and deceptions. How could she possible stomach such dastardly act?
How can she assert that she is pro poor when she is instrumental in the plundering of the meager wealth we have. Her expensive travels abroad together with her sycophants, shouldered by the citizen, are nothing but non-productive.
How can she assert that she is pro poor when she influence the Supreme Court headed by then Chief Justice Hilario Davide to overturn the “no mining law” after the Marinduque Mining debacle. She made it appear that by opening our land to mineral exploration, this will result to prosperity. Where are we now, but ever getting deeper and deeper to our domestic and foreign loan obligation? And what about the welfare of the indigenous people displaced and affected by mining activities?
Through her leadership our government is branded by no other than the International Monetary Funds as the most corrupt. The lavish over decorated Bataasan Renovation (Congress), at the tune of ninety million pesos (P90, 000,000.00), which is solely transacted by her son Cong. Mikey Arroyo, is an insult to the millions of poor Filipinos. What an ostentatious undertaking.
Our President perceives that we have a democratic form of government, yet what about those involuntary disappearances and the no permit no rally policy? Why extol Former General Palparan in her previous SONA when the fact is, this General has the record of the most killings of Cause Oriented Groups, where ever he is assigned, being in Samar, in Mindoro or in Bulacan province?
And now, adding insult to injury, again we will have a gargantuan budget for 2009 in the amount of one trillion, four hundred billion pesos (P1, 400,000,000.00). This budget is a big amount for a poor country like ours. Our government borrowed nine hundred million dollars or the equivalent to thirty seven billion, eight hundred million pesos (P 37,800,000.00) for this year alone. How long can “Juan dela Cruz” endure; as the one who will later on pay this big loans?
Will someone help the Filipino people for the heavy burden she has done?

Good question Mang Godo.

A leader should always be a guardian of truth, a leader should always unite his people towards greatness, a leader should be humble to admit his mistakes, a leader should always bring hope to his people especially in time of crisis and a leader should always credible enough to every word and promises that comes out to his mouth.

…the basic principle of Leadership states that the leader is always held accountable for whatever his or her men does or fail to do…
Jang-jang
What “stepping down” is this Bauzon trying to say?
We cant afford to become a laughing stock of the world for the nth time via a fake peoples power.
Let Gloria finish her term and history will judge her. Barely two years to go and this Bauzon will call for a step down? Is he out of his mind?
The people dreaming to take over Malacanang this early for sure will tarnish his/her image and again new oppositionist will call for a step down!
Cut the crap and get back to work!
Jun Bauzon Odono
I am at work jang-jang. Trying to earn a decent living outside the Philippines because your Gloria cannot generate jobs for me and millions of other Filipinos.
I am working because i’d rather see the Philippines become a laughingstock than see my children hungry and wanting.
I am working because my sense of priority tells me to look out for the survival of my family and not be as cosmetic as you and your fear of the country being a laughingstock. The country’s pride cannot feed my children. But my hard work will.
If my call for Gloria to step down makes me and countless others “insane”…so be it. I will not sit on the fence and watch YOU and our immature and corrupt electoral system produce another GMA, FPJ , or clowns in the Senate and Congress.
Social upheaval, how harsh it may be, is the product of people who understand pain and call for change…not from fence-sitters like you who have a distorted sense of priorities.
Diwatang Tisay
The problem is deeply-rooted in our culture as a people. We love to keep up with the joneses with big SUV’s as in Europe and USA di naman bagay dito kasi ang kitid ng kalye at ang mahal ng gasolina. We love to have big houses kahit na nag-iisa lang nakatira kasi me prestige daw pag single detached kesa sa townhouse or condo.
What do we get? Sub-standard services, late deliveries, angry customers, dead patients in hospitals for lazy doctors or nurses who pass the board with leakages.
Kung gusto nating mawala ang corruption, we should start re-thinking and put discipline back into our lives. We should say no to substandard products, say no to violence and dont participate in activities that divide but unite people in cooperation.
Kailangan lahat me contribution.
Nagiging ganid na rin ang Pinoy — not because life is hard. But because we have started to live and think beyond our means. And we just accept puwede na yan kasi baka sabihin napaka-kontrabida at di marunong “makisama”.
Nakakapagod isipin di po ba? Ayoko ng magalit. Pasalamat lang ako wala tayo sa Iraq or sa mga me crisis na bansa. Pero, makakatulog ka nga ba ng mahimbing?
Dito sa ating bansa, pag nag-istrikto ka, me magagalit. Pag lumuwag ka, me masisira. Gaano man kalaki ang kita mong dolyar or peso, walang halaga yan lahat.
Say a prayer for peace each day and pray that each one will LISTEN AND CHANGE…TO BEGIN WITH EACH ONE OF US. Wag mag sugal at maglasing.
never again!

To Maria Makiling and De los Reyes,
I always talk to my relatives back home and never did I hear them complain about life much more say bad against Gloria.

I believe that it is high time for us ethnic Filipinos to take matters in to our own hands. I am not advocating a revolution to change our government, instead, awareness that the ethnic Filipinos are taken for a ride by our predominantly ethnic Chinese occupying the upper echelon in our government. Let as wait for the 2010 election to assert our rights to our country. Let as not elect ethnic Chinese politicians any more.
Our ethnic Chinese politicians such as Mayor Ramon Belmonte of Quezon City, although in his last term, is a typical example of a what can happen to his constituency during his term. First, he raises the Real Estate Tax to its maximum in 2004. His reason was to build more school buildings in his locality. What he did not mention, was the local government of Quezon City has already accumulated four billion pesos (Php 2,000,000,000) unspent revenue and one hundred eighty six million pesos (Php 186,000,000.00) savings in operational expenses running the Local Government of Quezon City. And this was in 2004.
I wrote a letter address to the Mayor inquiring the need of increasing the Real Estate Tax considering that the general economic situation at that time was already deteriorating. Unfortunately, I did not get any reply. He, together with the City Councilors, unilaterally approves the resolution without public consultation.
Not satisfied with the increase in Real Estate Tax, he again increases the Mayor’s Business Permit to its maximum level, thereby doing business in Quezon City very expensive. The gross income on business used by the City Government of Quezon City is a very devious procedure in computing the taxes. It disregards the operating expenses, the profit margin of commodities, and other incidental expenses. And last, basing taxes on gross income disregards the ever increasing cost of rental.
And now, the Local Government of Quezon City has accumulated more than thirty billion peso (Php 30,000,000,000.00) unspent revenue. Thanks but no thanks! Over 65% of his constituency is now at the threshold of poverty, yet he is undaunted.
Another reason why I dislike Mayor Ramon Belmonte, who is an ethnic Chinese, is that, there are so many summary executions happening in Quezon City. Yet, I haven’t heard any objection regarding Human Right Violation coming from our Mayor. His deliberate silence on this issue is so deafening. Is it because most of the victims are ethnic Filipinos?
So when I heard about Joey Salceda’s, ANOTHER ETHNIC CHINESE, comment about Filipinos being “genetically structured to fail”; these PGMA lapdog ignored the fact that there is an exodus of highly skilled professionals leaving the country because of graft and corruption in the government, and the atmosphere is they are not compensated commensurate with their skill because our labor has been marginalized by the government. There is no job security in the Philippines, labor’s rights have been curtailed, and our government’s policy is to discourage the establishment of labor organizations.
The ethnic Filipinos is at the verge of final conquest by the ethnic Chinese who are well entrench in our government. They aim to totally control the whole country and treat the ethnic Filipinos as their slaves. And they have almost reached their goal with the direct participation of PGMA.
Opening our country’s mines for the exploitation of the Chinese is a matter that every ethnic Filipinos should be concerned. In the history of mining industries in the Philippines, like Atlas mining, Itogon soyok mining, Parakale mining, Baquio Gold, Philippine Iron Mines, and several other; the ethnic Filipinos did not feel the benefit on these undertaking. All the golds, coppers, and etc minerals were exported abroad, yet, the typical ethnic Filipinos are still generally poor. So, why would we encourage more exploitation of our mineral assets?
To hell with the governments propaganda. Let’s conserve our mineral resources for the future generation. The only country who will benefit is China.

I always talk to my relatives back home and never did I hear them complain about life much more say bad against Gloria.
Look at the streets of Manila, except for jeepneys plying its route, the traffic is clear. No protest people.

walang protesta?
no permit no rally policy, pre emptive and calibrated strike, legal bruhaha at ibat iba pang pananakot..ngayon kahit matibay ang paninindigan laban sa pekeng administrasyon eh kakasa ka ba sa panggigipit ng military at pnp?

- MAJORITY OF THE FILIPINOS DONT LIKE HER, HER CABINET PEOPLE, HER FAMILY AND HINDI LANG KAMI TATATLO…BAKA KAYONG NANINIWALA KAY GLORIA ANG TATATLO?
GOOD JOB? kung ang US may lame duck at war-mongering president meron din atyong gma, and look what happen to US and Phils with these kind of leaders? nasa economic and political turmoil? and dont even think na leaders are heaven sent coz the two leaders cheat their way to the presidency.

in reaction to mang godos comment to jun odono…

I believe that it is high time for us ethnic Filipinos to take matters in to our own hands. Let as wait for the 2010 election to assert our rights to our country. Let as not elect ethnic Chinese politicians any more.
**********************************
I go for that wonderwoman. dapat ang mga may lahing intsik ay wag ng isali sa pulitika.
In Indonesia and Malaysia, they have what they call
Bumiputra or Bumiputera also known as “earth son” or son of the soil.
Bumiputra is a political term widely used in Malaysia, embracing ethnic Malays, Javanese.
It is a political and economic policies designed to favour Bumiputras.
These policies have succeeded in creating a significant urban Malay middle class but have caused a backlash of resentment from excluded groups (such as the Chinese and Indian Malaysians).
It is time that we have to implement this affirmative action. Ethnic chinese filipinos are in control in business and politics.
This land is for filipinos. We have been deprived of opportunities, opportunities should come first to our native filipinos, as we call anak lupa.
If our brothers malaysians and indonesians were able to do this, then we should also.
there should be equality in all and not only for the rich and chinese alone.
let’s have bumiputra or anak lupa.

in reaction to maria makiling at buboy…
or in english we gave our sovereign rights to our politicians to do what is best for us and for the country.
in short, wala na tayong pakiaalam after election. bayaan nyo na sila. if they do wrong or did not perform then there is another election to kick them away.
Was there any change to the better when people kicked out Marcos, None.
Cory was just a palamuti.
And worst, she was accused of kamag-anak Inc. and mahjong and our foreign debts, instead of written off as she can request, she did not nothing.
when cigar Ramos took over, he promised to be an economic tiger and prosperity, of course, it was kuting, he was accused of amari deal.
when erap became the real actor as president he was also kicked out of office because of accusations.
in short, we the people, the filipino people are doing nothing except to watch these politicians, in particular GMA.
As far I know, she’s doing better than those past presidents after Marcos.
The accusations against her are just imaginations. I cannot see billion pesos she stacked for her but what I am reading is, she’s giving away billion and billion of pesos to subsidized the poor, the farmers, the fishermenen and so and so forth.
People are free to demonstrate but there was none, every body can throw accusations, allegations of corruption but there was none.
Many are against only on here policies like the MOA, the billion subsidy, the e vat, the north raril project… which are all for the betterment of the people and the country.
May I suggest that instead of seeing the wrong on GMA because it is too national to be given attention, you write to her and propose or recommend something good for the betterment of your family and your place.
To go on national issues is a gargantuan task which only our politicians are tasked to do.
As they say, start on the grassroots.

In English, these are negative critics and annoying people who tried to bring someone else down which is demoralizing, and down right depressing if it got to your nerve.
My advice to Gloria on her negative critics and annoying people…
Just ignore the annoy.

Beijing Olympic opening and venue is magnificent and spectacular.
The best among the very best.
Amid its technology and modernity, is the cooperation and support of the chinese in holding the olympics.
Amid its spectacular show is the unity and pride of being chinese.
Lesson learned from the chinese is the unanimity , teamwork ,pride and sensitivity, nationalism and patriotism.
I hope this olympic fever will contaminate the filipinos, especially our politicians and oppositionists that there will be no achievement if there is no PAGKAKAISA AMONG US FILIPINOS.
If not, then we will just be content on our version of Bird’s Nest, our own Pugad pipit and Water cube is like our own Tubig Batya… a symbol that we cannot go far beyond.
Let’s have this Beijing Olympic fever infected on our skin and soul or else we’ll be content on our version of olympic fever as lagnat and kalintura a disease that never cure that’s why they call us sick man of asia.
In short enough of bickering, let’s get back the fervor of nationalism of being filipino.
NI HAO…

the only role of the political oppositions is to dimoralized the present government. itong mga oposisyon b e magagawa b nila paunlarin ang pilipinas? taga ko s bato kung lahat ng pilipino ay d n maghihirap at magugutom at ang pilipinas ay siguradong uunlad pag cla n nkaupo. ganyn tlga cguro s politaka, lahat nagmamagaling para lang mkakauha ng boto s susunod n election.

To Maria Makiling and De los Reyes,
I always talk to my relatives back home and never did I hear them complain about life much more say bad against Gloria.
Look at the streets of Manila, except for jeepneys plying its route, the traffic is clear. No protest people.
Maybe there are people who don’t like her and you are three of them.
As americans always complement… Good Job.
To Gloria… you’re doing a great job.
—–
MANG GODO, sorry to disappoint you but when you said only 3 of us out of 85 million people do not favor Gloria can you please explain why public surveys show she’s the most unpopular leader this country has ever had?
If your relatives in Manila have nothing to complain about good for them. There are fence sitters, you know, and people who are simply numb to feel and sense anything wrong.
Yes the streets of Manila are clear of demonstrators. Because the cops and soldiers in uniform are already there before the demonstrators could even assemble.
To be fair, I acknowledge Gloria to be a good economic manager, but what I do not accept is she has allowed her presidency to be tainted with corruption. In the absence of evidence of guilt, the fact that anomalies and scandals linking her, and her resorting to executive privileges as her shield, give rise to doubts as regards her innocence. It is sad that the good job she has done to improve the country’s economic situation is negated by her political mistakes. It is error in judgment that makes her a bad political leader. If you still cannot understand that there’s nothing more to discuss.
Matsing
Because, thats the only thing they see. All her shortcomings! Yan ang hirap sa ating mga pinoy. Educated naman, 3 times a day naman kumain, pero madaling mapaniwala. Please please if you are jobless right now or have a big financial problem, don’t blame it to Gloria. Blame yourself on just standing in front of your tube listening to unconfirmed reports about the president. Always remember, the thruth will always prevail, thats why she’s still there and erap doesn’t!

matsing, matsing, matsing…
and also to mang godo, lolo bosyo etal…
we never blame gloria for the misery of our country, we only criticize her for her illegal and unconstitutional actions and allowing trapo politics and widespread corruption…
we never accused her for nothing, after her terms ends (hope shell kept her promise) tons of evidences will come out, as of now this govt has a lot of legal blockade with the help of malacanang mafia and arroyo corrupt-poration,may katapusan din at hangganan ang lahat…
re your nonsense accusation of us who criticized gloria regime as jobless, tsismosa and etc.
for myself I have business to run and have people who depend on my small business, this electronic means of voicing out and informing the public is to make people realize and to be be awaken and open their minds of the wrongdoings and illegal and unconstitutional actions commited by the people who suppossed to be our “public servant”.
nagiging manhid na ang kasalukuyang generations because of thinking na pareho-pareho silang corrupt, but if we know how to act and united as one w can eliminate or perhaps lessen corruption.
social services? daming dole out projects pero all accounted ba lahat ng funds with people who are handling the funds are credible..50% di nakakarating sa taong bayan.
accountability? daming cabinet secretaries who failed to their duties are still in the position, what we get? failed programs…
a lot of people still want to help, with my group who diverted our meager resources to help various foundations and Gawad Kalinga instead of govts social department because they never fulfill their role as public servants…
Im still hoping for our leaders to change heart for our country and our people, may panahon pa if they are really sincere and honest to provide and serve as real public servants but they are busy to be in power beyond 2010 and that is the bad story for us a a republic.
God save our country
