I ADMIRE Senator Mar Roxas but his choice of words in a recent interview aired on national TV is disappointingly lamentable. In a follow up interview, he arrogantly refuses to apologize, saying he was just expressing the sentiments of the "people". This calls to attention to a part of private Mar Roxas, recently unseen, but now naked before the public. I am a tax-paying citizen of this country and I have strong emotions about the general politico-economic situations our country is in today. I need someone in Congress who could voice my concerns as a citizen in a manner that is peaceful, decent and effective. I do not wish, though, to be counted as one of the people Senator Roxas was speaking for in his recent outburst. The good senator must realize that not all the people -- certainly, not all the "Masa" speak and express their feelings like a proverbial "Palenkero".

tama yan sen mar..honesty is still the best policy..whether u run or not in the presidency..my family and friends wish you the best..iba ka sa ibang nagbabalak maging Pangulo..
I am at odds with Senator Roxas' public outburst during the rally. On one hand, I found myself pumping my fist in agreement over his statement.
I hate the Arroyo adminstration as much as the next guy, and I can only wish that all their misdeeds will have caught up with them when her term ends.
Indeed, his burst of expletives was very similar to what I had in mind regarding Charter-Change.
On the other hand, I expected that Roxas would have exhibited more self-control over his vocabulary, given his status as a public official. He's supposed to mantain a composed and proper demeanor wherever he goes. Instead, the Roxas I heard and saw seemed like yet another ranting rallyist - I've seen way too many of them in Makati, all claiming to speak for me, when all they've done is disrupt traffic and work.
While we may agree on how pissed we both are with Gloria, his actions are very much his own, and speak only for him. Let's see him fire off that salvo in the house of Senate, THEN I'll really be cheering.
Its ok, he can say all invectives. Thats his right. I will not vote for him to the highest post anyway.

Mr. Palengke has shown his true colors of being a "Mr. Palengkero" just to get attention and catch up on surveys among the presidentiables where he is kulelat. Haven't you noticed how he hugs the media limelight on just about any issues lately, preaching "colorful" activists language? Just last week though, he was embarrased by an oil company executive when he was dared to open their books to justify if his "populist" claim of an additional P10.0 rollback has basis. But give him credit for the risky moves even if these make him look more stupid. I wonder what antics he will try next...
What else can you expect from a palengkero. True to form Mr. Palengke?
i was amazed by Senator Mar's arrogance to give an apology of his uncalled outburst. certainly, this good senator of ours shows more of his other which is impeccably unworthy.......i don't want to have a president like him. he may be the most intelligent presidentiable but his actuations is no better than of a six year old child....yo no quero creer senador Roxas es hogaes mal pensamento...
i am requesting the Central Bank (BSP), maybe they can mint new 50 centavo coins back in the circulation. Now that the minimum fare in PUJ is Php7.50, many Jeepney drivers & commuters are having a hard time in 50 centavo change.
Delete the 10 centavo coins in the circulation, but please keep the 25Centavo coins. they still serve some purposes. Minting new 50centavo coins will surely help common commuters like us against the abuses of Jeepney drivers that give us a hard time getting our 50 centavo change
Dearly Beloved Sen.Mar Roxas,
You are a total embarassment to the Senate. Not to mention your "stance" of not apologising to the public which indeed was uncalled for.
I used to admire you as, a matter of fact I recall how many times I sent you an email at your website concerning corruption in the government which you never even bother to have your staff reply on.
Manuel Roxas must be turning in his grave for your verbal abuse. Indeed anyone can be a senator however truly it is quite difficult to act like one eh?
I'm sorry for your career and if I were you I wouldn't even dream of running for president in 2010. It would just all be a waste as you practically threw all your hopes down the drain with your mercado remarks.
Shame on you for there were many religious people in the rally. There can be no excuse for what you said.
You will go down in infamy for what you did similarly as Congressman Gonzales did when he socked the Sgt.at Arms. he is still a better man than you are because he apologised just think about it.
seleucid
i have so much respect for mar roxas too, until he made those cheap remarks. i have my sentiments that can be worded more like an expression of deep frustration minus the profanity and i am not a senator of the republic.
coarse talk coming from someone who aspire to become a president of the filipino people is so unbecoming of a decent statesman.
nestor,
Let me express my rage on the other way round. P.......g gobyerno na to.
If we could not see any changes being implemented in the whole Philippines. If Manila continues to be an imperialist and impose the Tagalog ethnic dominance, perhaps, there will be a day that this nation called Philippines will disappear. Do not be surprise that with a 100 years from now, you will no longer see a country called Philippines for time will come that those in the South will take up their own voice and separate from these damn Tagalog Republic called Philippines!
Mr. Palengkero, an appropriate aka for senator Roxas.
No offense made to our tinderas and tinderos sa palengke, when you utter the word Palengkera/o means tsismis but that is not the point.
Our palenkeras are the most modest and hardworking filipinos.
With tingi tingi na tubo in retail, they are there to supply us the basic necessities of our daily needs.
Instead of going to multi million manufacturers, when there was a price increase then, Mr.Palenke was always in the market, checking the price increases of sabon, arina, asukal, tuyo and so and so forth.. But why the poor retailers whose only profit is barya, barya.
But that is not the end , Mr. Palenke became the palengkero for guarding the palengkes but also when he made mura like p___ of our president.
To clear the point, our palenkeras are the most courteous people on earth, for they know how to make sale, for they know that customers are alwasy right.
Mr. Palenke, Roxas should not be called one, for he is a disgrace to our palenkes.
Hail to our tindero at tindera sa palengke...
You are probably one of the few in the crowd who was offended by Roxas' outburst.
I was not in the rally and pretending to know the sentiments of the majority.
I am guessing that this majority in the crowd class C & D did not find such expletives of Roxas lamentable.
Roxas is just being smart to use words that appeal to them.
You know the saying...A face can launch a thousand ships but words can change history.
Having said that, Roxas has nothing to apologize for.
thank you...
Kaya nga tinawag na Mr palengke eh palengkero yan at mahilig talagang magmura yan. Front lang niya ang kanyang education from an Ivy League school.
I agree with you that not "all the “Masa” speak and express their feelings like a proverbial “Palenkero” ", but i also think that the word p' is not the emphasis in that statement, but the over frustrations of many people including the “Masa”.
Remember also that many, specially the poor in this days would rather keep quiet
about their frustrations because they feel they can't do anything against the administrations no matter how they express their sentiments in decent manner
you mentioned, and this kind the of situation i'm worried about when people become passive thinking they will never get the change they needed to be able to overcome poverty. Not the word p' in Sen. Roxas statement.
"For evil to triumph, good men have to do nothing," the lack of outrage even in the midst of rampant "on your face" corruption not just by the Executive branch but also by the Legislative, and Judicial branches, is disheartening. Perhaps Ninoy was wrong, the Filipino is not worth dying for! In South Korea they would have thrown the lot of them out the streets, Thais took to the airport to show their outraged, the Filipinos smile and go on. Even the ones that are supposed to protect the citizens are killing them and not a peep from us. We need to be ashamed before the Asian community in our cowardice.
The father and daughter who were killed, now the news is that the money (Euros), hard earned may I add, was also lost. This my countrymen is the pits! Is it any wonder that given the chance, people would leave this country?
We need to take a look at ourselves and take action; Let's throw all those crooks who voted to dismiss the impeachment charges come election. Let's convict that Joke-Joke guy who everyone knows is guilty, let's take that OMbudsman out of her office and put her out on the streets, lets replace that Injustice secretary with a real person, Lets do away with the Comelect, and many other things we could do but too numerous to put in writing. Let's do something!
Only fools would vote for Mar Roxas to the presidency in 2010.
Gloria Arroyo is even more decent than this man as she PUBLICLY APOLOGIZED to the people.
Roxas wont budge to apologize to the people.
Mar Roxas is only deserving to be voted by dogs if he runs again for public office.
"Mr. Palengke"
Roxas' performance in presidential wannabe's poll-survey is simply sinking and he need some dramatic action/s to remain in the limelight. Unfortunately, he have chosen ways as what he did in the last Cha-Cha Rally that made him to sink more.
As a senator, he is a non-performing asset in the Upper Chamber and is not worth to become a presidential contender in 2010.
An elected Official that has to stoop to the level of unacceptable expletives to convey the thoughts and concerns of his constituents does not deserve a place in the Senate. Mr. Roxas has demonstrated that his reasoning abilities go right out the window when angry or stressed. This is NOT the type of person that should be considering a run for the Presidency. Imagine if he got angry at a visiting foreign dignitary VIP and offered up a single middle fingered salute if and when he was able to be President. This is just another one of the left leaning Socialists that does not care about the repercussions of his own actions or the MASA. It is a good demonstration of what we see repeatedly in politics, Me Me Me Me and not thinking of us us us us!
Let the one among you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone...
No one likes a person who says $%*&@#! words.
No one likes a person who does $*@*(#&@#(*@ things.
In the bigger scheme of things, is Mar Roxas the villain?
May someone openly admit that he shall not cast the first stone.
Amen.
He's just gonna take advantage of the stupid media and the notorious "masa".
I am more concerned that as a taxpayer, my representative in Congres is not protesting to high heavens the coruption of this administration. Mr. Nestor Boncaya should question the motives of lawmakers who want to preserve this awful administration or extend their terms - "Di kaya dahil nakikinabang sa pangungurakot ng mga may kapangyarihan?"
If my representative should err, I would prefer he err on the side of vigilance against corruption, not on the side of timidity or decorum. -
"Hindi baleng palengkero, basta ipinaglalaban and mamamayan at nilalabanan ang pangungurakot!"
"Kesa sa mahinahon na nakikinabang o tahimimk na painababayaan ang mga anomalya sa pamahalaan!"
I elected my representative to make a difference, not to be a winner in a Mr. Congeniality contest :)
is it really necessary to utter those words?..yes i think so when one needs to put himself in limelight in order to remind the people that he is an alternative in 2010 presidential election...
The "other side" uses flowery rhetoric which is nothing but empty talk, at the same time live a life of luxury resulting from the fruits of their corrupt activities. Would you rather side with this dirty group? My guess is that your answer is yes. And that is your right.
Mar Roxas made his point. Unfortunately, it took expletives to do it. I am all for him.
Tom
Hey brother Nestor, seems to me that what you are referring to as a "proverbial" palengkero is someone who is unpeaceful and indecent. Beware of making false stereotypes. A traditional palengkero is someone who engages in honest trade trying to sell his wares however loud- mouthed he maybe. This corrupt and dishonest administration deserves the cursing and expletives it's getting.
People like Mr. Bocaya makes our country pathetic! I would rather be represented by a "proverbial palenkero" than have a fake president who is the most corrupt and evil.
Sen. Roxas should never apologize for saying the truth. What happened to our country? We expect apologies from those who say the truth and yet we award the presidency to someone who cheats and lies,to someone who is a killer, corrupt, and a thief?
God bless our country!
Malacanang makes a big issue of Sen. Roxas' cuss words. What about the widespread corruption and human rights violations they commit?
Being a 'palengkero' is not going any lower than an election cheat, bribe taker and bribe giver, and human rights violator.
that's what make our filipino nation as "magaling", we as a people of this nation only have comments..but less actions.ano ngayon kung nagmura yung tao, which i agree. let us unite and act for liberating our nation from the crook politicians..not just comment when we hear or see something wrong?
Mr. Palenke cannot fool us.
That's our life being palengkero, meaning that's our street lingo, ang magmura at magboladas.
We know that if someone is making boladas or mura, we know that he is hollow, dinadaan sa pagilas but kulang sa isip at gawain.
That's our senators today but not all, I have still admiration to Enrile, Santiago, Gordon and Pimentel.
Our new breed of legislators ay papogi lang ang dating, no substance, medyo konting banat kay Arroyo, may konting puntos sa publiko.
But we are not that anymore, filipinos, poor filipinos are intelligent as a rat. We know who brings the cheese.
Look at hollowness of these senators. These senators were elected as our voice, voice to the senate and yet they are voicing their grievances to the us, the people.
What's the point of getting elected, if you cannot do your job.
This chacha is a political question, a constitution question, then it should be debated in the hall of congress and let's know the brightest mind who can make us believe that cha cha is good or bad.
Mr. Palenke, you cannot fool us anymore. You are obsolete, sa supermarket na kami namamalengke.
Gaya ng sabi ni Rizal, ang taong nagmumura ay masahol pa sa linta at malansang isda... well that's where you can find fish... palengke,
I am also a tax paying citizen of the country, and, also i agree with Mr. Bocaya, Sen Roxas outburst is not understandable. He is a public servant and what he claims that he is just saying it on behalf of the Filipino people is very a presumptuous, intolerable mistake from the senator. He has been heard in national television not only by the voting public but also by the youger generations and the future leaders of our country. Does He mean that this kind of traits for a our political leaders can also be understood and that younger generation can also follow his methods????
Think again Mr. Palengke...
I think you are taking the Senator Mar Roxas incident out of context. Each of us has the right to express his point of view and so far, Senator Roxas fully expressed his disgust over Cha-cha and the other associated anomalies in the government. The cussing and yelling, of course, was part of the package.
Would you rather have a soft-speaking Senator on stage, saying the same thing? We have a serious condition right now in the Philippines-- Cha-cha, if implemented, will change all our lives and we will have to deal with the changes for the next 10 years or so. Would you rather speak meekly about this?
Or would you rather have an administration that speaks softly but secretly stashes 728 million pesos' worth of agricultural funds? Or a government official who travels to Russia with 7 million pesos, speaking meekly that he "did not know" that he had to declare such cash at the customs inspection in Moscow?
You must be from the old school, where people who don't scream are good, and the ones who raise their voices are mean and ill-mannered. The cussing of Senator Mar Roxas simply shows that he cares for this country and he wants to awaken the public that this is not a telenovela where we all just watch and see what happens next to our government.
Pick your stand.
Yes , marami ng anomalya ang ARROYO administration and what is this Cha-Cha all about. Guest what we thinking about Arroyo extention, but it will be her son Mikey to be President or Prime Minister. He is the behind of all of this CHA-CHA thing.
Well, that's your opinion on Senator Roxas! He certainly is not perfect! But if I were to chose him despite the words he has spoken against this present administration, among those so-called HONORABLE MEN AND WOMEN in congress who don't have any principles and moral values to be guided with, I would still choose Mar Roxas!
Please clarify the news that Mar Roxas is a nephew of PGMA. Is this true? PGMA is said to be the 4th RP President in their family - Aguinaldo, Roxas, Macapagal & Arroyo. Are we going to see a 5th one?
What is wrong with Sen. Roxas outburst against Cha-Cha perpetrated by the regime of this Garci elected leader whose reign is mark with unparalleled corruption? To whom he should apologized? To the thick face Congressmen whose unsatiable greed for money will do anything to protect their patron? To the bishops who shamelessly accept dole outs from Malacanang? To the civil society and big businesses? I would rather have a cursing politician than a sleek nice talking politician who cheats, lies and shamelessly steals. Puneta, as MLQ used to say.
Having read this is like watching a richly man order his steak from a very sophisticated restaurant - would he want it rare, medium or medium-rare. Obviously a "masa" or a poor person can't afford a steak.
A masa can't demand a hero with a dark-temptation cologne, maybe Nestor can.
I beg to disagree with the opinion of Mr. Nestor Bocaya that the cuss word uttered by the good Senator Mar Roxas is not appropriate for a Senator or a public official like him. I rather admire him for he is not a hypocrite jus like the present tennant in Malacangang who had delivered that infamous "I'm sorry" speech but in reality is just a put on and shes never sorry for the corruption that sher had done as she keeps on doing it again and again. That character, Mr. Bocaya is more repulsive that the cuss word uttered by Senator Mar Roxas. The natural reaction for us Filipinos when we are angered and exaspirated is to say that word to the person offending us. We tell that to the person for him or her to stop what he/she is doing. We say that cuss word to deliver a very strong point so the person would realize and wake-up and see that what he is doing in not right. That is the point made by Senator Roxas. GMA is already numbed (manhid) from all those scandals so that cuss word "PUTANG_____" is appropriate for the occassion.
To Senator Roxas, I would like to say, go on Mr. Senator, sock it to Malacangang!!! We are behind you on your advocary against charter change thru their Con-Ass.

The only way to be noticed in public is to say expletive or censored words against PGMA specially during the 7000-rallyist at Ayala.
I am sure the late Sen. Gerardo Roxas and President Manuel Roxas cannot utter such explicitly deleted and unprintable words.
He could not be called Mr. Palengke because he is a person with gold spoon belonging to super rich family.
It is a total demagoguery. Read "ginagago ang masa." He is riding on PGMA's unpopularity. Think that he was appointed by PGMA and ERPA as member of Cabinet, but he played Judas to both of them.
He could have discussed economics because he has good background on this aspect instead of "sangano words." He wanted to create a "masa appeal" like ERAP to get popular votes.
I learned that in the Province of Roxas, his name does not ring to his kababayan, what more on nationwide.
His words have stained the good name of Roxas family in exchange for being popular.
That is politics in the Philippines, you need to join the effective way, to think like sangano, to work like sangano, and to talk like sangano.
This guy is simply been wearing a mask in public. Is this the kind of Presidentisble we want? A rude, arrogant, hypocrite individual, Now the true Mar Roxas is showing his color. A low class person talking to a low class people in front of him. He just totally lost his presidential ambition BIG TIME!
I admire Senator Mar Roxas and what he said during a recent interview. Any person is entitled to his opinion and like what he said, "hindi ako plastik" not like the people lurking in Malacanang. Who are we to lecture the senator peaceful, decent and effective means of expressing one's concern when the very one sitting in Malacanang lies left and right, defies the very people she supposed to govern, and like a virus infected all the people around her. Just look at her record in governance, second only to Bush I guess because she was not "shoed" out.
I am completely dismayed at the outburst displayed by Sen Mar Roxas using words most of us will not even think of using in private conversations. And he has no gut to apologize. This is very sad. This is the dark side of his being that suddenly came into public view. His refusal to apologize is YET another part of that dark side that he had so successfuly hidden most his political life until now.
I agree. Mr Palengke need not be Mr Palengkero. It cheapened his cause when he cussed. I am also saddened that he did not have the decency to apologize and instead justified what he did. Since he eyed the presidency, I became wary of Mar Roxas. Every move, every statement sounds like trapo to me because he seems to be grabbing at every chance to campaign. Change your ways Mr Palengke and I might buy in to your cause.
I'd rather have a foul-mouthed honest senator any day over an unspeakably evil "president" or those Mafiosi we call congressmen.
yes, for me, my point of view in sen. roxas shouting of expletives words is fair and good enough for this kind of very humiliating administration of gloria “EVIL” arroyo and his absurd allies. as a matter of fact “p......” is not the right words for them, if i will be the one to chose a words for them, it should be “HUNGHANG na mga utak biya”, there is no wrong regarding what he said because even we, the ordinary people of our country are so very dismayed and mad with these kind of “HUNGHANG” people. we know that sen. roxas is a very quiet person eversince he was a government leader, and he was just broke his silence because he couldnt tolerantly accept in his life what was happening now in our country.
i would like to tell him not to think of any regrets because that is the way on how these foolish people is doing to us.
so, sen. mar roxas, im proud of you, you are not an ill-mannered human, but a man of dignity. we will fight for you sir.
mabuhay ka and hope to be our next president. keep it up.
What Sen. Mar Roxas did is not acceptable! There is a proper way to express his disappointment to President Arroyo. In fact, President Arroyo is much better than Ex President Erap even though they are corrupt but the performance of PGMA atleast commentable than ERAP! Economic crisis is much worsen if ERAP still the President! I was wrong, I thought Sen. Mar Roxas is a descent man instead an arrogant! Hey Mr. Palengke watch your mouth! I don't care if you have no respect to Mrs. Arroyo but please respect the seal of the President!
