I quote what Nasser Pangandam Sr. said: “They should be sensitive to the feelings of others, the past few days have been very painful for us.” Look who is talking. Was he sensitive to the feelings of de la Paz and family when his son and his son’s bodyguards mauled Mr. de la Paz and his 14-year-old son despite of the pleadings of the 14 year old teen? Mr. Pangandaman is talking as if his son and his son’s bodyguards were the ones mauled by Mr. de la Paz and his 14-year-old son…tell that to the marines. The best thing you can do and your son is to resign as a secretary and your hot headed son as Mayor. If your son can do that in a prestigious club, then for sure in his town where he is a mayor he must be acting as if he is the god. All the readers’ guess is as good as mine.

The mauling of a private citizen by a government official is a grave impropriety. Pangandaman’s presence and his inability to stop his son (also a government official) further worsens the case. Both should resign. Taxpayers do not need these people in government.

This whole mess is as dirty as it can get and the behaviour of the Pangadaman father and two sons was despicable, to say the least.
Here is the problem: the dela Paz family is not fighting the Pangandaman family only. They are also fighting Malacanang since Pangandaman is a part of the GMA”s brood. No doubt, this will end in a white wash just like cases previous to it. I am will to bet all the tea in China. Just watch.

I agree with Bayani Magtanggol.
These people should not be in public service at all…they abuse the power they have.
It is very sad to see that most politicians in the Philippines are like the PANGANDAMANS… NAKAKAHIYA KAYO !!!!
KAPALMUKS!
And im sure your 8 year old son will grow up to be like you… you have started them young… ARE YOU PROUD OF THAT Mr. Pangandaman?

Tao rin naman siya Pagandaman na marunong masaktan.
He has also feelings, a wounded feeling.
Akala ninyo, hindi lang siya marunong mag-golf, magaling pang mang golpe.
But now, we know his human side, maamo rin siya na nasasaktan ang damdamin.
Besides, it is not Look who’s talking but Look who’s brawling.

As I see their pictures in news articles, these Pangandaman brothers really looked arrogant and abusive. A typical sons of abusive and corrupt politicians in the Philippines. It seems that they’re really guilty beyond reasonable doubt.

Why am I not surprised that this happened? These type of things happen all the time in the Philippines . . . whether it be elected officials, cabinet members or just the local police chief . . . it is deeply ingrained into the Filipinos’ heads that you are special if you have money, you are special if you know people at the top and you are special if you are one of those people at the top . . . everybody else is below you and should act like it.
Antonio Yang III
If Pangandam didn’t want to draw the ire of the blogs and the media, MAYBE he shouldn’t acted like such a douche in the golf court, eh?
The best way to avoid a fight is not to look for one.

These Pangandaman family did this act with the full knowledge that nothing will happen to them. Actually, the Delfin Family are very lucky they are still breathing. Afterall, how many cases of government officials abusing their power have we heard before? I bet you they are hi-fiving while pretending to be sorry. And this Nasser Pangandaman is a member of a peace panel?? …. hahahaha ….goodluck Juan delacruz.

I don’t think that resignation is the best thing to do– I would suggest that they be subjected to the same physical trauma that the de la Paz’s experienced. Then let’s see how they feel after making the son’s ear bloody, kicking and punching the dad several times at 2 separate places (golf course and main office) and putting them at gunpoint with several threats for future torture.
An eye for an eye– one party mauls the other, then they simply say the magic phrase of the Philippines, PASENSYA NA PO, and probably resign, and that’s it? No, no, no… I am tired of hearing the word “pasensya” because it has been abused and misused by most Pinoys to get away with almost every mistake, intentional or unintentional, that they have caused.
Bambee de la Paz, the 18-yr-old young lady she may be, is totally correct with her stand that “justice” in the Philippines is based on who holds the gun. And maybe– who gives the P 3 million pesos to get his son out of PDEA’s clutches. How about “justice” for who holds the presidency?
Think deep, my countrymen– and react.

No wonder our country is going to the dogs. People would immediately jump into conclusion after reading a slanted column or self serving blogs.
I suggest that Mr. Magtanggol first find out both sides of the incident before making sweeping accusations. I don’t take sides between the two protagonists but obviously, from later accounts of people who were witnesses to the so called mauling incident, the De la Pazes were not innocent as pictures.
It’s easy to heap scorn at people at a drop of a hot but it makes me retch reading opinions of people who pretends to know so much by just mere reading inaccurate reports.
Don’t be too judgmental brother. I am an OFW also from Saudi. Always remember, in every issue, there are always two sides: the truth and the untruth. One cannot get into the truth if one relies on pure hearsays.

Shame on De La Paz, beating up a Mayor and his goons! Look what happen to the Mayor and seceretary Pangandam, i bet they’re having nightmares right now. This 14 year old (barely in highschool) and his Dad together with his sister who’s 18, had the gall mauling a helpless,27 year old heavyweight guy and his 4 thugs(who are probably bigger than the mayor himself). You cannot just beat somebody up just because he has goons with high powered caliber guns. That’s not right. I urge mayor Pangandaman to pursue this in court, let the whole world know how you got beat up by a 14 year old boy. How an 18 year old girl and her 56 year old dad did a crouching-tiger-like martial art, armed only with an umbrella to subdued your goons. Umbrella can be very dangerous. I’ve seen Rhiana played with it and she became a good-girl-gone-bad, but that’s another story. We the bloggers support you Mayor Pangandam, we will never surrender. We will be with you always, like monkey on a tree - ngayon kilala na namin kayo.

I have said it before and I will say it again.
Drug problem will never leave this country if our stupid government does not do ANY CONSTRUCTIVE MEASURE TO ERADICATE IT ONCE AND FOR ALL.
Instead of declining, the production of prohibitive drugs is ever rising. The value of confiscated drugs is now running into billions of pesos!
While our politicians are whiling around, doing stupid things, like travelling abroad, making empty rhetorics, or snoozing inside Batasan during sessions, PROHIBITIVE DRUGS IS FLOODING OUR COUNTRY, and permiating in every sector of our society.
The resources derive from these prohibitive drugs is no longer a joke. It can buy the freedom of any drug lord (mainly ethnic Chinese from Mainland China and Taipie) or any drug pusher.
It is no longer a joke when our Judiciary is being corrupted by these elements. How can the Judges or the Fiscals over-look a case, dismissing it, merely for technical reason, when the stark evidence amounts to tons of Chemicals is worth hundreds of millions of pesos?
We can no longer take the drug problem lightly when addiction is already permeating in all level of society like the affluent, in our schools and Universities, in the PNP, and even among the poor. I know two high ranking PNP officers, both graduate of PMA, whoes family lives were reck because of drug addiction.
Remember, a high ranking LGU in Real Quezon was also involve in transporting drugs inside an Ambulance sometime ago.
Would you believe that the campaigne funds of a Congressman is partly finance by drug funds? Perhaps, next time, it may be the Presidential campaigne funds.
And what is PGMA doing about the problems on prohibitive drugs?
Nothing!
In fact she glorifies the country that supplies it. Instead of lodging a diplomatic complaint against China and Taipie, which is the main source of these prohibitive drugs, Gloring, merely looks the other way, pretending to be innocent, while the whole country falls victim.
Our little president piously pray before the start of her Cabinet session while the tentacles of corruption related to these prohibitive drugs is already entering the doors of the Department of Justice.
And she is playing blind!
The dastardly act committed by no other but DoJ Raul Gonzalez (hope I spelled his name right), entertaining the lawyer. of the “Alabang boys” Atty. Felisberto Verano Jr. on a private conversation, regarding their release, is a very strong indication that the prohibitive drug influence has already entered the door of our Judiciary.
Who knows if the next Presidential election will be dictated by the huge financial resources of this elicit business.
Mind you, our little president is prone to favor China, in general, in all aspect of running our internal affairs. Just look at all her Cabinet Secretaries ( all ethnic Chinese), look at her Malacanang spokeperson ExGeneral Ermita (another ethnic Chinese), her attire (straight colar blouse typically worn by ethnic Chinese), her lady bodyguards (all ethnic Chinese), etc.
Sometimes, I feel like our little president wants to eradicate all ethnic Filipinos in this country. She does not even bother to investigate the artifical shortages of essential commodities by ethnic Chinese traders who artificially increase the prices to the detriment of ethnic Filipinos.
Price manipulation is so detrimental to everyones lives, spacially the mothers who can hardly budget their income. Yet, our little president plays a blind eye to these problems. Her compatriot, ethnic Chinese, who has controlled all business aspect has manipulated all the essential commodity prices. The prices of commodities in the Philippince is twice with that of our neighboring countries. That is why smuggling is rampant. Even smuggling is controlled by ethnic Chinese.
Back to drugs. Our little president allowed the Filipina drug smuggles caught in China to rot in jail. She said, “That serves them right.”
The catch is this. While she sacrifice these Filipina drug smugglers whoes financiers are ethnic Chinese, she and her cohorts, DoJ Secretary Raul Gonzalez is treating the Drug Lord (primarily ethnic Chinese) scotch free.
Yes, these drug lords (ethnic Chinese) are freed, worst, they escape while in the custody of law officers!
See, how imbalance, our little president treats her own countrymen; people who allowed her to cheat in the 1994 election?
She even does not admonish the Central Bank of printing all our past presidents and heros with sleek eyes. What is she driving at? Does she want them to look like Chinese? All our currencies has artifical Chinese eyes imprinted in our presidents and heroes.
Madam little President, where is your NATIONALISM? As president, you are one of its kind.

Nasser Pangandam Sr., if you still have any “delicadeza” in you, better resign. The whole world will still run smoothly with or without you. No one is indespensable.
Thailand’s prime minister was ousted from office just by hosting a “cook show,” while you, the despecable event that happen in the Valley Golf demands your outright resignation as a government official, and this includes your sons.
You are not only a bully, together with your children, but you are also a bare face liar.
At first, you said, you deny that you were around when the incident happen, as taken by the T.V. coverage, when in fact, more than enough witness saw you around that vicinity.
Our little president who appointed you as Sec. of DAR is again playing blind to your plight, so we, as tax payers, as concerned citizen, as decent individuals, demands your outright resignation.
We have lost hope with our snail phase judiciary, our partial politicians, and the whole government establishment, so we are asking you politely, cut it clean, RESIGN!

Now that both sides on the matter of Golf Valley Boxing club has came out, it turns that De La Paz, the old man started the everything as per witnesses of caddies, etc. The saying says nagkaroon din ng katapat si De La Paz (no wonder no valley golf employees were willing to help them and that also includes the takot from the bodyguards of the Mayor). Fortunate for him to have a daughter that has the savvy of blogging the Pangandamans had a field day with the bloggers. Anyway I still think that the Cabinet Secretary could have stopped the mauling but, having power from the government it seems naught for him to intervene. Even if it was started by the other side, I still could not give respect to the Pangandaman’s…. They just wanted to show WHO THEY ARE AND WHAT ARE THEY IN POWER FOR…..

The pangandamans exemplify what kind of people govern the Philippines, typical corrupt and bullies. I mean, a mayor who is only 27 years old??Im not questioning Nasser’s personality and/or age as I dont know about this guy until now, but I am questioning his governance. Since I am not there, have not gone there lately, I would believe more on the tales of those who went there in any capacity to pick up some chismis. For the moment, I will go with the expulsion of the ‘victims’ from the golf club membership. I wouldnt be surprised if even a pseudo shrink would account the ‘warrior fury’ was instigated by the ’second class citizen’ persecution mode.

When I heard about the Pangandaman – Dela Paz event, I came to an observation that the best way to make a sport popular is to put a human-interest story in it. Suddenly, the brawl made us aware of golfing terms like “flight”, “tee off”, as well as gave us some briefer on Golfing Etiquette.
Before the event, all I knew about Golf is that it is a game where players finish off a course with the least number of strokes. I remember a friend demystifying golf as a game of “holen”. The fastest you can shoot your marble in a hole, the likeliest you will win the game. The loser gets to have his marble shot at point blank - with a marble of course.
In Golf, probably due to the immense size of the playing field, rules have to be established - otherwise, one player may hit another player with a golf ball and kill him. Much like what the loser’s marble gets in a game of “holen”.
It is very saddening that both parties found themselves in a middle of a lot of things. Before the event, I believe they went to Valley Golf to have a good time. In the end, the only good they probably got is the chance to be closer to their respective families.
My teacher once told me that a story always has three sides. The 2 sides belong to the narrators, and the 3rd side, the truth. In this case, the truth may very well belong to the court.
The event solicited a lot of opinions (my own even). It has sparked a lot of intertwined controversies. It even dragged the name of the President.
However, I sincerely believe that amidst all these, the poignant item remains to be:
What and who instigated the event? This is important in determining who deserves what. Did the 56 years old Mr. Dela Paz instigated the fight? If this is the truth, we can imagine Mr. Dela Paz, having been overtaken by the 2nd flight of the Pangandamans, lost his temper and hurled invectives at the Pangandamans. We can very well imagine what he could have said. He could have said, “Who are these people? Why are they overtaking us? Are they even members of this club? They do not know anything about golf!” Probably wanting to teach his son what rules of the game to adhere to and how to assert your will to another man, he could have accosted the 2nd flight and gave them his two cents worth (and a poke with his golf umbrella).
On the other hand, had the Pangandamans instigated the fight, we can also imagine the Mayor saying, “Let’s go past this group, they are pushovers anyway - with the old man and all. Let’s start a fight so we can catch up with my Dad.” Probably wanting to show-off his brawns, he manhandled an oldman and beat them to their pulp (or at least that’s how the blog sounded like).
Determining who instigated the fight will allow us to be more or less sympathetic to either side. If we were able to establish that indeed it was Mr. Dela Paz who started the commotion with his social status in life dictated arrogance, I would say, hell yes! He deserves a whole lot of beating. However, if indeed it was the Mayor who picked the fight, I would say, he deserves the full force of the law.
The event in Valley Golf reinforces one of life’s lessons - what you reap, is what you sow. Violence begets violence, arrogance begets arrogance. These people may have forgotten that there are far more successful men than they are. Whoever the Dela Paz and Pangandamans are, whatever their status in life may be, they have to remember, there are people who have more money than they will ever have in their lifetime. There are people who have achieved far greater successes in life than what they have already achieved. There are fathers who have provided their children more than what these two fathers can only imagine.
And the good thing about these far greater men than these two is, they did not brag about what they have accomplished. They teed-off, scored very good, finished the whole course and earned their green jackets.
I suggest, let them tee-off and see who wins the game.
De los Reyes
As a golfer myself, I can understand how Pangandaman and De la Paz must have felt which led to that brawl. Only a golfer could say how it feels when someone tries to overtake your flight and plays ahead of you without the least courtesy of asking permission which is a big no no in golf.
The consequence of that breach of protocol is usually the enraged flight teeing off even if the flight ahead is within hitting distance. This is a provocative act that invites confrontation. I confess I had been guilty of that myself having lost my cool when I felt other players try to pull a fast one and ignore the rules of golf. Somehow confrontation is avoided when offending parties come to their senses and apologize for the infraction or cooler heads intervene.
Obviously, that was not the case that led to a brawl between Pangandaman and De la Paz. It seems obvious DAR Sec. Pangandaman did not do enough to explain or calm down the enraged De la Paz. Being a high cabinet official and senior among the group he would be given the respect to be listened to had he been pro-active in calming down De la Paz. Instead he let his young sons argue with an older De la Paz who apparently looked down on the young men and provocatively poked them with his umbrella.
Was Valley Golf’s decision to expel De la Paza and suspend Pangandaman fair? In my opinion, both parties should have been equally penalized. To be fair either both are expelled or suspended because both are as guilty as the other.
Harry King
If, indeed, criminal cases on the Valley Golf Brawl were filed by both parties, the Board of the Valley Golf club should withhold their findings to avoid adding a slant to the decisions that may be rendered by the courts. The Valley Golf Club should have simply banned both Padanganans and dela Pazes until the cases are resolved by the courts.
What happens if the court’s findings differ from that of the Valley Golf and Country Club? Will the Club join the Brawl too?
robbie tan
with valley golf expelling de la paz, the club has probably committed its biggest mistake. by retaining pangandaman, the club has surrendered the fact that armed bodyguards can come beat up anyone the pangandamans have crossed.
no wonder dela paz is having trouble selling his valley golf shares. no one in his right mind would join a club where a sword of damocles hangs over his head, as the presence of pangandaman presents.
both members should have been kicked out as both members traded blows. it takes two to tango, so to speak.

Oops, sorry for getting the names wrong. Padanganans should be Pangandamans. I hope I get it right this time.

I am of the opinion that Valley Golf should have immediately investigated the matter and tried to patch up the quarrel between two club members, de la Paz and Pangandanan. If the matters can not be resolved and since both parties have filed charges against each other, Valley Golf should keep its findings confidential. Indefinite suspension for both parties until the litigations are resolved should be the proper step to maintain the club’s social prestige.
Being a golfer myself, I can imagine how difficult it is for Valley Golf to obtain unbiased testimonies from the caddies because their services are being paid by their respective “bosses”. It is also not improbable for some of the staff to succumb to pressures coming from certain sectors. The Valley Golf Club should withhold its findings and allow the court to conduct its independent investigation and persuade the parties to accept mediation proceedings.
It is also inappropriate for Korina Sanchez of ANC to publicize the findings of Valley Golf in her program. The Valley Golf “brawl” is still considered a private dispute even if it involved government officials. Charges were filed so let the court resolve the dispute. De la Paz was correct in not attending Korina’s program because there is no journalistic value in bringing the matter to the TV audience. It is purely a happening that resulted from unrestrained temperaments of players on a golf course.
Overall, it is still the responsibility of Valley Golf Club to continue to work for an amicable settlement between its two members.

Mang goding, I somehow agree with wonderwoman in many things…and I cant blame her for saying that the philippines is going down the sewer. You are understimating the illigal drug business.
It rakes more money beyond your imagination. Billions and billions of pesos goes to the drug syndicate. It earns more than the illigal numbered games and lotto combine.
I have been to the remote corners of many provinces, and I am witness to the addiction.
Your tendency to believe what you see is like denying the existence of air. It is colorless, it is odorless, but it exist.
Why, do you douth that you have a soul? dON’T BE A DOUTHING tOMAS, one of Christ deciple. Or do you also deny that our government is corrupt in spite of being branded as such by World Bank and IMF.
The resource of drug syndicate is so huges, it can now affect even the winning of political candidates.
Would you deny that China and Taiwan government are not aware that these illigal drugs came from them? Remember, one of the PDEA and NBI operation caught groups of Taiwanis and Mainland Chinese working together in the illicit LABORATORY.
They can even put a price on my head if they want to. Illigal drugs, just like power, corrupts, it kills, and it bribes.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
On the other hand, I feel proud that filipinos work abroad.
Imagine, there are billions of citizens around the world, and it is only we, filipinos, are the most sought workers.
Why?
It is not that Philippine is a poor country but because filipinos are the best workers in the world in terms of education, english as they say, hardworking, obedient and so on and so forth.
Are you not proud of that? Whether there is economic crisis or not, filipinos are in demand.
No need to elaborate.
Filipinos are skilled in their profession. Filipinos are the best exports and I am happy for that.
