PRESIDENT Gloria-Macapagal-Arroyo said the “full force” of government’s powers would be applied “unequivocally” against Department of Justice personnel and other government officials who “betray public trust.” Therefore she should be the one to lead by example by not only taking a leave of absence, but rather resign by betraying public trust and letting his sons, husband, brother in-law mess with the affairs of the Palace.

ARROYO tells the DOJ execs to go on leave due to suspected bribery in drug cases? Then everyone there at the DOJ should take that leave including Sec. Raul Gonzales. And why limit the directive to drug cases only? Why not included all cases?! Doesn’t she go on a leave of absence herself?!

This is the right thing to do by those accused of receiving bribe from Alabang Boys. They should either be cleared or be charged to the court if the result of the investigations say so.
This is high time for GMA to undertake drastic house cleaning before completing her term. There should be no sacred cow.

i fully agree with messrs. nacpil and del rosario. how can one, not from doj, prepare a resolution using a doj letterhead, without any knowledge from those at the top? the price maybe wrong for somebody to deny any knowledge about it…..

I think, the PDEA bribery scandal has increased the awareness of the Filipino people to the evils of corruption and drugs. On behalf of the those who think the way I do, we extend our support to the honest men and women of the PDEA.
We believe that the guilty should be prosecuted and force of law must be applied.
Corruption has significantly degraded the fabric of our society, has denied our children and our countrymen the right to better education, the right to be free from hunger and injustice, the right to have access to opportunities to be able to provide for a comfortable way of life to our family.
Corruption has denied our country better infrastructure and better education for the people that would have improved our country’s competitiveness. Likewise, corruption is likely one of the root causes of our problem regarding peace and order.
Corruption has degraded the life of many and I suspect resulted to poverty, hunger and malnutrition thus sacrificing the most important resource of a nation–the people.
Corruption has enriched and comforted the few and sacrificed the welfare of the many. To the few, it is not likely a stretch to say that the decline of the many will weaken the foundations of the few.
Corruption and drugs are a very dangerous mix that will undermine the progress and development of a country. A case in point, I beg your pardon, are the some of the countries of Latin America.
I cannot forget what a great man said, and I would like to state along his dictum —
“when we aspire to neutralize a deed that would have adverse implications, we should be prepared to act and apply that which will provide the negative consequences”.

Gonzales is wrong to ask the PDEA officials who exposed the bribery attempt to go one leave. Why prosecute our heroes? They even refused the bribe.

Well said, to both of you, Sirs. Verily, PGMA should not only go on leave but also resign for serious OFFENSES like human rights violation, plunder, and dishonesty.
Came to think of it. We should also demand the resignation of the former Senate President Manny Villar for causing unnecessary additional expenses worth 1.2 billion pesos due to the diversion of the C-5 to pass through his 12 subdivisions and over price the government from going rate of 4,000 pesos to 30 thousand pesos per squaremeters.
And just yesterday, I read in the blog here which reads as follows:

Al Jeratso Says:
January 12th, 2009 at 12:13 pm
It is disheartening to note that Catarman, Samar was recently put in the spotlight because of the flashfloods that hit the area.
This is just a warning for thousands of residents to keep close watch on what might befell them if illegal logging activities are not stopped in Eastern Samar, particularly in Borongan, where logging companies owned by Senator Juan Ponce Enrile are operating right now.”
I have the wrong notion that the Church groups together with several NGOs were able to thwart the sinister design of former DENR Secretary Mike Defensor in connivance with Senator Enrile, when the former approve and give logging concession comprising thousands of hectares to the Senator.
The two high government officials, both past and present Senate Presidents should be seriously investigated for enriching themselves using their influnce and position.
Spacially the concurrent President, Senator Enrile. He is a known lawyer, and if I am not mistaken, graduated the school of law with Summa Cum Laude. And therefore, he is fully aware, being a veteran both as practicing Lawyer and in the Legislative branch, THAT IT IS A VIOLATION OF THE OMNIBUS LAW FOR GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS TO ENRICH THEMSELVES USING THEIR GOVERNMENT POSITIONS. It is not only unprofessional, unethical, but downright immoral for him to get that logging concession in Borongan, Samar and else where, while he is in his capacity and also consdering that there is already an existing NO LOGGING policy.
Now for those critics who say I am in the wrong side, saying that we as Filipino people should unite for the betterment of our country.
My evidence is these two individuals, which is the former and the present Senate Presidents committing a crime of plunder. “Nakakahiya kayo ! ”
I am worried for my personal safety not so much for my life but the future of my children because during the Senate Investigation of Jun Lozada, Senator Enrile was able to obtain illigaly, a telephone conversation of Jun Lozada which could have increminated him, had it not been that wire tapping is inadmisable in court and also a violation.
Where else will Senator Enrile get the wire tap conversation except in ISAP. Of course, he can zero-in on me if he wants to get my location. No problem. Simple! Just call ISAP, the wire-topping agency of our government.
Of course, everyone knows that it is a violation of our privacy for the government to wire top you, but who am I anyway. I am nobody! Secondly, they are the LAW!
There are many salvage victims left and right; were will I hide if the government targets me. As they saying goes, “I will die with my boots on.” I will die with the conviction that our government is corrupt! To my last breath, I will tell the truth; that our government is corrupt!

Nothing will happen with this case. I would not be surprise if the arrested suspects will be released due to technicalities. The government officials will be cleared of wrongdoing because there is not enough evidence. Why do we even bother to talk and write about this?
Dr. Nestor P. Baylan
DOJ must support PDEA action so that arrests lead to conviction.Technical lapses do not outweight the menace of drug trafficking. If the DOJ is unsupportive of PDEA’s action, the latter becomes marginalized and irrelevant in the fight against drugs. PDEA is in the front line in this war against drugs. The enforcement arm must be provided with portable drug tests kits, listening devices, and video cameras.Drug testing should be mandatory for suspects. One one can win the war on drugs on kid gloves provided by the DOJ!

If GMA will submit to the whims of the few, then a new group of scalawags will plunder this country.
Some people really cannot sleep while PGMA is at the helm.
Well, they will not sleep until May 2010 so its better for these few to stop day dreaming!

D.O.J.–Drugs Over Justice
So much sensationalism has been meted this “Alabang (boys) Adults’ (AA) illegal drugs case for several weeks since their captivity last September 2008; and yet up to now no formal charges have been filed against AA.
While it may be true that the house probe unleashed yet, another damning revelation from the first degree of consanguinity that their nearest of kin is a pusher/user, mother included as substance abuser as well in the accusation, the DOJ must file the imperative charges in the proper courts against these young individuals, so, they too, can defend themselves in the court of law—and not to be feasted upon by confluence of public opinion and media.
While this barrage of public opinion, media mileage through radio, television, blogs included is on-going, the Octopus head/ of this big-time drug syndicate is heading his/their way out of the country—leaving just their tentacles lurking around towns and cities of our country or probably allowing their illegal drug labs to be raided or telling our narcs to ‘raid’ them, just so the public shall go easy on their nefarious activities.
We all know from the mafia movies we watched (thanks to them for the idea) that these drug syndicates have, under their payrolls, individuals or groups of people involved or working with the judiciary, in particular the Department of Justice (DOJ). They have under their slips judges, prosecutors, police and even some Drug enforcers!–even media–to protect them.
Drug menace is global. Societies all over the world have put up a fight against illegal drugs trade. But in the Philippines, even if all sectors of society clasp hands to go against illegal drugs, the moneyed syndicate can easily out-buy us, just by the scent of those bundles of monies paid to those in authority and in turn those bundles of joy would be stashed at either local banks or Swiss them in Europe.
Though the 2009 opener is promising in the battle against illegal drugs, I just hope that this will be a continuing social campaign against such menace and not just for ‘show’ to the new US President Barack Obama, who’d be sworn in on the 20th of this month; just so the Philippines shall be in the limelight of ’seriously’ eradicating illegal drugs.
The brown race may have soared last year due to the combined feats of Manny Pacquiao, Charice Pempengco and Arnel Pineda, marking international acceptance of fellow Pinoys in the fields of sports and music, but we have a dismal showing in politics, corruption and cuddling of Drug syndicates as most drugs cases end up in conundrum.
