WITH a good five weeks before his mega fight with Hatton, Pacquiao has already caused a self-inflicted black eye because of his attempt to renege on his contract with Solar entertainment. And the root cause of it all is, you guessed it - MONEY.
For many years now, the Pambansang Kamao has been a source of great pride for Filipinos around the world for the courage and superb talent he has displayed in boxing. His success as a four-time world champion is a testament to the saying that yes, THE FILIPINO CAN.
And yet, his penchant to flip-flop on his decisions concerning financial deals now seems to smear his lofty reputation and image. Wasn’t it not long ago when Pacquiao attempted to turn his back on Top Rank to accommodate a seemingly more lucrative offer from Golden Boy?
And now this brouhaha on the Solar-GMA-ABSCBN airing rights. Are there more financial flip-flops to come? Manny cannot say that he was coaxed into reading a prepared statement when he decided to turn his back on Solar.
Was he under duress or grave threat to do so? It’s bad to threaten a “national hero.” Manny is his own man on this. His subsequent apology to Solar and GMA did not show his courage at all. It did not exonerate him from the mess. In his apology, he merely shifted the blame to ABS-CBN whom he said made a prepared statement for him and broke the deal on a so-called video “embargo.” Duh. Paging ABS-CBN–would you do that to a national hero? No doubt, Manny is now extremely wealthy beyond his and our wildest imaginations. His contract with Solar was probably loose change for him. Yet, the latest stunt he committed just shows a major crack in character–that of PALABRA DE HONOR. Ah yes, money can indeed change people.

Manny pacquiao can become a very good congressman(least evil) the only problem for him is his descision making. He sometimes would like as he always say”everybody is happy”.Not everybody is happy when you make descision since this will affect somebody. He sould learn to make NO’s and Yes’ for what ever is more beneficial. It’s just easy to decide since he knows how to pray and ask God’s help-this is the KEY and he got it.For the other congressmen;gentlemen you shuold be like Manny…Pray for God’s help..

Pacquaio had given so much pride to our nation, one of very few Filipinos who had done so..
But I would prefer to see him managing a Pacquaio Boxing Center training and shaping new breed of young boxers for our country rather than see him sitting in Philippine Congress as another useless congressman or MP wearing dark glasses inside the session hall blankly staring at the ceiling or just counting lizards.
In case he wins as congressman in 2010 dont want to judge him this way, but he should realised this early that a congress position either from a barangay councilman to senator are lawmaking functions that are elected to enact laws and policies, its not a position just for posturing.
If he cannot really control his appetite for a political position, why not aim to become a mayor first of his town? an executive position doesnt require so much qualifications, then If he proves effective, then run for governor later and then congressman? How can you ever dreamed of driving a ten wheeler truck when you dont even know how to ride a bike?
I supposed those people who keeps on whispering at Pacquiao’s ears should slow down, for the sake of our nation.

Manny Pacquiao was clearly manipulated into that situation, his kindness to please everyone, give everyone a fair shot, are now coming back and biting him in the a*&,like what you said, “its not even , the contract might not be even chump change, but nothing to him at all…Why are we so quick to find blame or quick to accuse him of flip-flopping, All this man, ever do is to please everyone, if there are to blame in that issue, then it should be ABS/CBN, since they perfectly know, what could have happen if, that contract was breached, they have lawyers that looked up any scenario, but they went ahead with it, hoping that Manny’s camp would not catch the blunder, and solar would just simply ask for a buyout and not protest…Manny is not capable of reading, analyzing every contract, every proposal, that gets presented to him, any many including ABS/CBN,would try to attempt of cashing in, on those weakness, it is ABS/CBN business morals, that should be questioned here , not manny pacquiao’s integrity…Every business establishment knows full well that there is a Moral Protocol, on every contract, ABS/CBN has been in the business ,long enough to know and Not pretend that they dont have any diabolical intentions of grabbing a superstar as big as Manny Pacquiao at all cost…

why we have to turn our back to the people who help us when we are in needs???
its because money right???…..ganyan talaga eh…..nawawala loyalty at palabra de HONOR pag pinag uusapan ay pera….
he have all the oppr2nity to help people pero nakikita pa rin na my selfish motives yung pagtulong nya kasi if you want to help others hindi ka mag iisip na mapublish o ipakita at ipa alam yung pagtulong na yun sa lahat ng tao…
Sa Ating bansa kasi karamihan hindi tumotulong kung di rin lang mailalagay yung pangalan nila sa dyaryo and matawag sa TV na nagdonate ng pera….
gumising nga kayo!!!!!!
we have to help our nation to improve pero kelangan eh sarili muna natin ang una nating linisin….wag naman sana tayong maging makasarili….
di kasi uunlad ang bansa natin kung hindi tau nag babago…
kahit anung gawin nating parally at pag aalsa walang mangyayari…..
patnubayan sana tau ng Maykapal
the final judgement will coming….
we have to accept our sin and belive in HIM

No doubt Manny Pacquiao can sooner or later win whatever seat he covets in the Philippine electoral arena. But as a congressman Manny is handicapped academically and experiencewise and it would take time to remedy this. He would need a political Freddie Roach before he can be effective in congress for his future constituents.
Pacman’s strengths and assets (finances and connections) are best suited for an executive position. I would rather see a more effective tireless Mayor or Governor Pacqiao constructing another Las Vegas in Gensan or Saranggani than a neutered congressman Pacman.
But for now, Manny Pacqiao should give 1 million or more and help the family of Rustico Torrecampo the only filipino boxer who knocked him down. Torrecampo was sought by the police after killing a man who sideswiped his beefmami vending stall. This gesture will ultimately proclaim Pacman’s magnanimity as the noblest fighter with the biggest heart pound-per-pound.
