WITH a good five weeks before his mega fight with Hatton, Pacquiao has already caused a self-inflicted black eye because of his attempt to renege on his contract with Solar entertainment. And the root cause of it all is, you guessed it - MONEY.
For many years now, the Pambansang Kamao has been a source of great pride for Filipinos around the world for the courage and superb talent he has displayed in boxing. His success as a four-time world champion is a testament to the saying that yes, THE FILIPINO CAN.
And yet, his penchant to flip-flop on his decisions concerning financial deals now seems to smear his lofty reputation and image. Wasn’t it not long ago when Pacquiao attempted to turn his back on Top Rank to accommodate a seemingly more lucrative offer from Golden Boy?
And now this brouhaha on the Solar-GMA-ABSCBN airing rights. Are there more financial flip-flops to come? Manny cannot say that he was coaxed into reading a prepared statement when he decided to turn his back on Solar.
Was he under duress or grave threat to do so? It’s bad to threaten a “national hero.” Manny is his own man on this. His subsequent apology to Solar and GMA did not show his courage at all. It did not exonerate him from the mess. In his apology, he merely shifted the blame to ABS-CBN whom he said made a prepared statement for him and broke the deal on a so-called video “embargo.” Duh. Paging ABS-CBN–would you do that to a national hero? No doubt, Manny is now extremely wealthy beyond his and our wildest imaginations. His contract with Solar was probably loose change for him. Yet, the latest stunt he committed just shows a major crack in character–that of PALABRA DE HONOR. Ah yes, money can indeed change people.

I think Paquiao is only partly to blame in these recent on and off deals. This is the 2nd deal that his camp got involved in if not millions of dollars the least several millions of pesos. The only difference with the first was that team Paquiao went further at the edge until the Hatton-Pacquiao was called off, then gave in to the 50-50 deal. And recently, the ABS-Solar deal, which obviously also have got to do with profiting. Whoever is the legal adviser of the team Paquiao and responsible for drafting these deals should bear the most bulk of responsibilities. Nipping the bud by its root should provide team Paquiao a clear soil to propagate more efficiently in the ground of Boxing.

Manny will lose to Haton…it is true that the money he gains from solar sports is just loose change, but who can stop manny from being greedy…

Manny versus Money!

Pacquiao is a money making machine. Everybody wants a piece of him to get money. He knows also he can get some more money by playing abscbn against gma. Remember when he signed 2 contracts with Bob Arum and Golden Boy at the same time? Pacquiao knows that he has to milk money from his boxing career while he’s on top. Because the moment he finishes his boxing career, he will not earn that much money ever again.
barbie
It’s true - Manny is neither Kapuso nor Kapamilya; he’s Kapera.
The guy’s so consumed about making more and more money. Guess there’s nothing wrong with that except that he does it to the extent of breaching his contracts. He also did this when he signed on to De La Hoya but ditched him and his contract when Arum gave him a bigger signing bonus. Really, Manny’s word has no value whatsoever. The highest bidder always wins with him.
ABS-CBN got burned here. Manny just used the network so that Solar would readily pay him his dues. And when Solar did, he promptly dumped ABS and even blamed it for showing his video switching to the network. Wais talaga. More like, kapal ng mukha!
I’d like for him to win but I wouldn’t be sorry if he loses. For once, this guy needs someone to knock some sense into him. I hope Ricky Hatton does it.

What Palabra de Honor?
GMArroyo has none, don’t expect a pugilist to have one.
Look mate, if Pacquiao is the sharpest tool in the shed, he wouldn’t be into boxing, would he?
The guy certainly has flaws which doesn’t really jive to your hero category. Which begs the question - why did the filipinos made him one? He’s the pound for pound King, let’s give him that. The National Hero title, I myself would say, is a misnomer when applied to him.
If the Filipinos want a virtous hero, go for RIZAL and they can’t go wrong. You need a pugilist, go for Pacquiao.
Pacquiao is brilliant in the ring and really belongs in the boxing hall of fame. Outside of that, let’s not expect him to be just as savvy.
You’ll get better results banging heads!
Which again begs the question - who made him a national hero?
Pogito
Angelo, you’ve hit a nail in the head. But then again, Pacman is known for his fist, not for his head!
But don’t say that to his face. Or else you’ll get mugged - in flurries!
As my favorite scoundrel (the one who mistook god for someone else) had once said - Hello Garci!

Though Dr.Manny has a doctorate degree Phd on human kinetics, whatever that be, it does not mean to say that he is using his intellect when it comes to money matters.
Manny is a boxer. His profession is to hit and be it with power. Either it must be a knockout or a swollen face after brutal fighting.
Manny is a brawler, he is not a thinker. Manny uses his power and not his brain. In short, he lives by the street and not by the library.
Manny uses his left and right hands. After a right jab, follows the left straight. That’s the motion. Bigay, bawi.
So,when Manny signed the contract with solar, as if he is doing a right jab.
But when the ABS CBN offered bigger contract, the motion was, left straight ala de hoya.
That’s how Manny did to the contract. In short, two birds in one stone.
Well, as they say, Manny is a national treasure. He is really a treasure with million dollars purse. Manny is a treasure to behold.
As Manny is not only a pambansang kamao, what Manny wants, Manny gets.
Not only that, whatever is Manny’s mistake, whether wrong or error, he is condoned or in tagalog, pagpasensiyan na lang dahil national treasure.
And why not… his no.1 fanis GMA, the president, his kumpadres are senators jinggoy, bong revilla, honasan, villar and de castro.
Does Manny has Palabra de Honor? The question is… does manny understand the word.
In this economic crisis, palabra de honor is useless, what matters is million dollars.
But I still go for Willie, the wowowee, when it comes to money, simple.
Manny is a national treasure, not a man of palabra de honor bur a man of few words for he lets his hands do the talking in the ring.

Remember the saying of his managers that “paqiao is worth every centavo”? It did not mean because of his boxing, much more it has meant because of his accepting anything from breaking contracts to possible fixing, all just for money. Honor? There is not much in “sports” like professional boxing. All what counts is money.
So, fighting some, most mexican, oldtimers who are happy to make millions at their last fights before resigning, is a welcome moneymatter for both boxers and of course their managers. A Paquiao who wins for to boost the pride of Filipinos and to satisfy the US Filipinos who pay horrend sums for watching the fights at Las Vegas. A challenger who does not much care to lose since he has already won all what was to win and now has the chance to go out of his career with an amount for his losing which is much more than what he could earn otherwise. And an Las Vegas arena management who can rely on full house and TV income because of the Paquiao crazy Filipinos. That is why Manny is worth every cent or centavo “pound for pound”. Las Vegas is not the place for honest and serious sport, it is theplace of gambling.
Give Manny the guarantee that he will be elected to a position where he can earn more than with boxing and be sure that again he will agree to give up his boxing.
By the way, he is one of the richest Filipinos now, can we find him also among the biggest taxpayers? Or could he deduct from income the exorbitant amount he “lost” in his bid for Mayor?
allan
About your question. Yes, I believe ABS-CBN can do that as they have asking Wowowee victims sign waivers.

Please remember, this man you’re dealing with does not have an MBA or PhD. We try to model him into something we want for ourselves. Yes, MONEY may be the root of all evil, but the sin really, is the LOVE for MONEY. Give the probinsiyano a break… because reality is what it is… stark raving GREED for money… and everyone in the sidelines cannot bear the fact that he makes more money than anyone else with a BRAIN. I’d pray he wins more boxing matches, make a few more Pinoys rich in pustahan, and decide to bow out of any political agenda. God knows we have enough Homer Simpsons holding public office…

Whether he has been unsuccessful in his try to move to Golden Boy Promotions before and this time in his try to move to ABS/CBN, what’s wrong with Pacquiao trying to get the best deal for himself?
After all it’s his body not anyone elses, that is going to bear the brunt of his opponents’ punches.
The way I see it, these people who are attacking him now are just jealous or if not “baka hindi na-ambunan”.
Please stop your crab mentality.

Manny wants to be a politician someday..a congressman.
With his constant shifting of mind, blaming his actions on others, and incidences of breach of contracts, I can say “He is now thinking like a politician”.
If in his heart he trully wants to help his countrymen, then what he should do is forget about his plans in running for a congressional seat and instead put up a big factory (or whatever business) in General Santos City that may involve exportation of goods. That manner, he not only open job opportunites to his kakakabayans, but also inclined him to spend his boxing earnings wisely.
siyetehan
it’s really all about money.
while we hail manny pacquiao for being a true sports champ, may he not negate that being a public figure, in fact a hero, he should also be aware of what he does in public.
enough of contract breach
enough of politics, manny.
allan
yap. i don’t expect Manny to be that greedy. now, i have to ask his motive for running a government office (congressional seat). His name betrays his motive, I think. hehehe.

Manny, the new Filipino international “icon” has shown his true color: it’s all about the money. He wants it badly and everything it brings: fame, riches, expensive cars, businesses, sex, swimming pools, billions of pesos in the bank, showbiz, musical and movie career, and politics. You can have it all, Manny. But you have lost the most important thing a person can have:dignity and self respect. Maybe its time to look for a new hero who doesn’t have feet of clay and a greedy heart.
tonycons
I fully agree with Mr Trinidad that Manny failed miserably in the test of Character!!!I hate to say this pero ang ipinakita ni Manny dito is by being too much Greedy na sa pera!!Sir Manny, bawasan mo mga alalay mo,wala namang silbi ang mga yan, maraming nakapaligid sa kanya yet wala manlang naka advice na mali ang ginawa nya!!!I doubt if he can regain the trust of the people!!!
victor manalac
manny handled himself like the boxer that he is - got in punching and dancing like ali and when he couldn’t make an effective flurry he danced backward, jabbed and stung like a bee and went back to his original stance or position. nothing embarassing really. he may have made a mistake but he certainly backed off on time and did what had to be done to dust off a wrong. and no matter the criticism, he didn’t get knocked down or out.
i admire manny so much that i’d like to see him fight marquez again. that’s because i doubted the decision in their last fight and it’s only in that bout where i realy thought he probably lost. i admired marquez then for his strategy. manny i’m sure knows better by now how he would defeat marquez again. but so would marquez. diaz, oscar, and the rest were mere flat footed slowpokes that were no better than manny’s sparring mates.
victor
Manny Pacquiao may be the best Filipino fighter of the century but that doesnt make him a true champion or makabayan for trying to turn back on a contract for the money. Character flaws cannot be repackaged the same with politicians.
Franz
Well, I didn’t quite agree with what Pacman did as well. But my guess here is he is trying to get leverage when (I think he will) runs for public office in 2010; that’s probably why he did this. As far as I know, he is already getting some threats (one of them is the kidnapping of his family). This could be one of the reasons.
Anyway, I’m still a fan of Pacman.

“Palabra De Honor” or Crab
It never fails to amuse me how some of our people are quick on the draw when someone popular errs. They pontificate with their pompous claim of virtuosity without laying a foundation of credibility. We call this “crab mentality”. A term we Filipinos are so averse in being accused of but so often confirm. This comment about “palabra de honor” and columns that quickly disrespect a person who obviously, because of hardwork and sacrifice, became financially and professionally successful, once again, underscore the abhorrent attitudes of envious and narrow-minded individuals.
Manny Pacquiao sacrificed a lot and took a lot of “beatings” to make it to the top. On his way to the top, he took many people with him, gave to a lot to charities and helped many individuals, brought honor to our country and our people and here are these persons maligning him with a term of “palabra de honor” or satirizing his display of business inexperience in a column. Who are these people? What values do they have?
I personally believe that the greed is not with Manny but with big corporations who now want to cash in on his accomplishments by taking advantage of his lack of business acumen. Giving Manny a misleading advise to renege on an existing contract is obviously malicious and self serving.
Our suggestion or advise should be for Manny to have someone who has the business savvy to deal with money miners. Bad mouthing someone who has done so much for our country by someone with a deranged value defines the “crab” - grab the one who is near the top and pull him down so that no one gets there to get out of the trap. Filipino ba kayo o ano?

Poor Manny. Now, all the mess about switching from Solar Sports to ABS CBN happened not because of money greed, but because the super hero has been “too shy” to say no to an alleged offer from ABS CBN.
The 60 million from Solar or maybe more from ABS CBN for airing the Hatton fight have not played any role in the fuss.
So, can anyone imagine a Mayor, Congressman or Senator Paquiao who the is too shy to say no if somebody is asking him for some not so legal deal?
Poor Mnny!
jaime rasco
Don’t you think its unethical for ABS-CBN and its lawyers to let Manny sign a contract without the consultation of his legal team? TV stations like boxing promoters can be so scheming. Manny would do well by letting his lawyers deal with these entities. It would do well for us just to admire and honor Manny’s talent, dedication, and accomplishments in boxing.
Egay
Poor Manny.. This is what he gets for bringing respect and self-worth to the Philippines and Filipinos here in America. Ang walang kamatayang crab-mentality na naman..

Manny Pacquiao is a man of few words.
He lets his hands do the talking.
And of course, his hands is for boxing and not for signing.
Pacquiao, though has a PHD degree, it does not mean, he is an intelligent man. He is only street smart for he grew up in streets and not in the comfort of university.
Though Manny is a dragon in the ring, he is a pussy cat, gentle and meek as a lamb.
He cannot say no for he is an accomodating person. That’s why when a contract is presented to him, he cannot say no and he signed it, not knowing the implications.
In short, Manny is too trusting to trust. His entourage of advisers composed of lawyers are bunch of craps.
They thought that because Manny is a national treasure, he will be condoned on his wrongdoings.
I think Manny is a victim of unscrupolous people trying to gain from him.
Palabra de honor, Manny does not know the word.
Manny is brutal in the ring, if he is short of honor, he is honorable in the world of boxing.
Enough of this crap… no gainer, no loser. But Manny is a winner come Hatton fight.

Firstly, the facts as stated in your blog have been overtaken by recent events. Secondly, that Pacquiao (or any person for that matter) loves money and is working towards accumulating more of it, is nothing to be shamed about. Thirdly, recent revelations attest to the fact that Pacquiao is gullible to a point and he seems to be unable to say no to friends.
Arch ER
Manny Pacquiao is a national icon and his achievements that give so much pride to the Filipino nation are remarkable. And yet, that fame and popularity that gave him wealth didnt distinguished himself to be fairly judgemental in his decisions especially regarding his financial dealings.
He is just repeating the fate of those fallen heroes of Philippine boxing who are keen on being sorrounded by advisors who would rather give him disgrace than goodness.
I hope his success and money will not lured him unto arrogance and greed.
Bert Contador
Crab mentality rears its ugly head yet again and with no less than the face of Recah Trinidad on it.
Trinidad talks a big talk on Manny’s greed, yet surprisingly or not surprisingly, gives ABS CBN a lot of slack, as if that giant network is the paragon of selflessness. But it is GREED that ABS would want to air Mr. Pacquaio’s fights as they stand to make more than the fighter will. But then Trinidad’s siding with the network would be beneficial to him if and when the network would invite his “expert” opinion on some sporting event, for a hefty fee, of course. The highest bidder, right, Trinidad?
As for Trinidad’s Bible-quoting friend, here’s Scripture with his name on it: Let him who is without sin cast the first stone.
In the end, Mr. Pacquaio has made more money in one fight than Trinidad will ever make in his lifetime and Mr. Pacquaio has done more good for the country and the people in one day than Trinidad ever can in his entire petty existence. I learned form reading your column that you spell your name E-N-V-Y.
So get off your high horse already, Trinidad. Perhaps, out of the kindness of Mr. Pacquiao’s heart he will send you ringside tickets to his fight. Plus accommodations. And suddenly all will be forgiven, eh, Trinidad?
Somebody better not catch you watching the fight, though. Because if you are to root for Hatton, then you have no business being a Filipino. And if you’ll be rooting for Mr. Pacquiao, people might find out what a big hypocrite you really are.
daniel
are u an employee of ABS-CBN? between Manny and ABS-CBN lawyers who tried to lured him I’d believe Manny who was just too accomodating. and between u and Manny you have no “K” to judge him you don’t even know the facts; his business dealings is none of your business anyway. look first at the log in your eye before the lint in other’s eyes. what are your achievements compared to Manny anyway?
Arta
People easily judged pacquiao’s action. i think this people only waits pacquiao to do something that they can exploit and tarnished his reputation. though, i believe pacquiao has his own mind and interest on the said deal. however, despite the honor he brings to the country, the pride of the Filipinos around the world, we easily forget what he has done for our country. Instead of supporting and understanding, you people really would wnat to dig in and try to manipulate things to the reader giving your malice opinion. Can you do something worthwhile? instead of the negative things, you shut up your mouth?
Every good action will only last for the persons who only waits for your mistakes.
cause once you fall once, they will try to pull you down.

Money and fame begets controversy.
Manny’s core character is now being question by those who probably benefited more than those who just idols him for what he is, because of his alleged flip-flop.
Manny is a piece of tenderloin thrown into packs of rivaling Hyenas , a.k.a. Solar- Gma and ABS-CBN.
Manny where are your adviser and mentors? You better learn fast how to manage/handle your personal and business affair, otherwise the people around you will make you a fool and probably bankrupt.
Palabra de honor among us, Filipinos, is just a glib. When it comes to money, as JDV had said “everyone has a price”
The only word of honor I know is when I said: “lalagyan ko ng gripo ang tagiliran mo”, then you better run. Because I will.
Pat Dagapioso
love your eaction to that issue….
though not merely to the heart of it….
i still believe that manny, is one of those people (including myself) who are dearly and severely affected by the global economic crunch, he needs money, desperately, and lots of it…..(brouhahahah!!!!)
joking….
yeah, i thought manny, for the lack of thinking on prior actions is now paying what he is doing, and now the price is his credibility and credulity….
I think manny’s credibility is tested through his actions and his statements through the media, get this, nothing is more powerful evidence, than a recorded evidence, more so a video record evidence… we have seen what he said and done on the national tv, though he may raise editing and stuff, but the truth is, it is plain and simple what he said was a consequential truth!…the people believes what he aid on tv. instantly
now that the damage he created was done, he seeks to amend the bonds he tried to shatter because of m$$$y!!!…and he pinpointed to the other side of the equator, saying the other network had caused him to do what he does not intend to do!…for anybody’s sake, who is he fooling? himself maybe, but me, us, no we can’t be fooled, now we know…
manny is unintelligent to see the facts and commit to doing necessary things about it….
manny is easily controlled and is whimmed easily!!!!!!!
wonder if those traits will be applied to his boxing, i think he will lose to hatton on the first round…. hahahahaha!!!!!!
not to pun manny, but my message is, apply what boxing taught you, attack on calculated esponses, defend on crucial circumstances, and lastly, prepare and practice for the big fight!
manny this is the big fight, you should have had prepared for this one………………….. what do i see?????
manny you lost this case!

I concur with you. I know some friends here in Los Angeles who wanted Money Pacquiao to lose his fight. Everything went to his head. He thinks he could do and get things done the way he wants it. i don’t know why manny pacquiao blames abs-cbn… actually nobody is to be blamed here but himself… if he only knew what a live contract is and if he only knew that he got a lawyer to deal with that then nothing of this would have happen… i know and let us say that he is to trusting and to accomodating… and let’s say that ms dyan castillejo is her friend (now maybe used to) he must not act on something that he might know that someone or somebody will be affected by your actions… unless you see something beneficial to you like in this case money…so that is where the word GREEDY comes along…and please do not blame abs-cbn if manny looses to hatton…it is only him to blame because he never thinks before he decide… and if indeed that abs-cbn where the culprit on this mess…i hope that he stop whining because it only shows that he is a cry baby… he is to defensive… the best thing to do is to tell everybody around him to stop fault-finding and just shut the hell up…since it is more respectable to see if they shut up and let all calm down…anyhow he’s the people’s champ he will still be the hero in the end… but with an intact image

It is so unfortunate that our Pambansang Kamao will be subjected to the same treatment that some of our local and international talents are somehow duped into signing contracts that are binding to the bigger entities rather than mutually beneficial contracts that encourages good faith and longer term relationships on both sides of the equation.
Like a telenovela, most of our young actors and actresses and even small time talents, such as TV and print ad models almost always get the raw end of a deal when talking about contracts with talent managers and/or TV/movie outfits. I can’t blame Manny for want of better coverage, given that the last time I watched the coverage of GMA/Solar, its like watching more of the advertisment rather than the fight itself…
Ok, given that they may want to earn their keep, but judging on the quality of pre-fight and post fight coverage, I would say that there is much much more that they could have provided Manny at that point or the viewing public for that matter. Depth is very much need in such pre and post fight coverages…
So this blog may paint Manny as lacking Palabra de Honor… May I just say to the other side… What is the Honor in contracts without opt out clauses that enable both sides to walk away from the deal, if one of the parties believe that it is not mutually beneficial anymore?
What is the worth of Palabra de Honor when the one that seems to have been shortchanged would have to honor a continuation of a contract for the duration of such relationship?

That is why the text jokes are correct: Manny is neither a Kapamilya nor a Kapuso. He is simply KAPERA.
I’m not so much into boxing but Manny’s recent fights excited me for the simple joys these brought amid our pathetic political and economic state. No doubt, Manny is now one of the wealthist Pinoy in the Philippine soil. With his coming fight alone with Hatton will increased his wealth by another billion pesos. Absolutely very rich after this fight, win or lose. But I don’t think he will be satisfied only by his billion fortune. His inivetable plan after retiring from boxing is politics. Yes, I think this is the best nesting place he have been planning for. There is MONEY in it, another sure takings to his billion fortune, isn’t it! What a wits! Money, money, money for Manny!

60 millions for Manny just for airing the4 game in RP? How much get Hatton, who of course can request the same or not allow that he is shown by Solar?
And there Paquiao wants to say money is not a matter of deals? It is very contrary, money is anything and all and money covers anything and all. That’s why Manny is worth any centavo…

That’s the reason why the excitement over the Pacquaio-Hatton fight has fizzled. Greed has eclipsed the anticipation if Hatton will be the next victim, or Pacquiao will be the punching bag of this British pugilist. Whenever Manny will say that he is offering his fight to his country and countrymen, he mastered the scripted patriotism. How much money does one person need to last him a lifetime? In this case no one will really know.

Manny is ‘only’ just human (afterall) like us. During his prime years they say his style of boxing is ‘one-dimensional’ but he was able to correct that with the help of a very good trainer and because of his perseverance and willingness to change to be better fighter. I guess he is also undergoing such kind of similar situation although in a different aspect of his life. If he stays the same true Pacman as before - willing to change and really learn from mistakes - then he should be ok as long as there is somebody similar to his famous trainer that gives him the right advice and guidance.

the size advantage of hatton will be of no use if he doesn’t equalize with manny in the factor of speed and the specter of a southpaw. he (hatton) will just be a huge bull’s eye for manny’s excellent aiming and shooting fists ! coach roach is right to say that the 1st three rounds will be the most entertaining minutes in boxing history. i even suspect or speculate that the may 2 bout might end up like an ali-liston fight - where the burly slugger went down on a single blow from a muhamad who was just too fast for liston . the fight lasted less than a round !
unless of course hatton practices to be as tough as marquez - going down and getting up like nothing happened !
i look at pacquiao as a deadly tyson with a muhamad ali grace but with the fairness of a holyfield, and a speed faster than elorde’s.
i’d bet my leg in favor of manny !
go go go manny ! viva pinoy !

So, Manny’s trainer belittles Hatton’s defense, was he allowed to join Hatton’s training? And Hatton’s trainer forecasts a quick win for his boxer.
It reminds at former Paquiao fights where also such statements have been made. But it also reminds to that fight where Manny’s counterpart did not even absolve any training and was 15 kilo too heavy just 2 weeks before that match date? Would really any coach allow and accept that if his boxer has to undergo a fair and honest fight? Not easy to imagine.
It looks more that, at least in Las Vegas, that one who brings more money will also be the winner. Or, why always Las Vegas? Because the US Filipinos guarantee full house as long as Pacman wins? Professional sport has its very own rules…

i am proud of manny. he has erased the stigma of a pinoy boxing champion always being cheated of his earnings because of lack of education. did golden boy and abs-cbn doggedly sue him for his change of heart in supposedly finalized contracts. no. why? they were the parties who actively try to hoodwink manny at the expense of arum and solar. manny is being practical. he is not greedy. he has the goods and he is selling it at the best price. remember this is business.

I still love Manny no matter what. Hope he doesn’t get distracted and win again.

It’s not the money but his love for money that will bring MP down. I have seen MP in many of his fights. I really admire him for his magnanimity in victory. But this issue about money tarnished his image. He is already financially established and so far, he is the only Filipino boxing champ who manages well his finances. Lately, he also showed how shrewd he is when it comes to money matters. Every centavo is so important to him, so it seems. He’s no different now from all the politicians that are backing him and riding on his popularity. Maybe the politicians character rubbed on him.

Warriors like Manny Pacquiao think little of money matters. Contracts and ones Honor does not have anything to do with each other. Reneging on a “contract” in my humble opinion is one’s prerogrative. Nowadays, people protect each other from breaches which allows the other to recover from a breach. Nothing personal.. Just business.. Meanwhile, Pacquiao is off to war on May 2. Go strong Manny!! No Mercy..

all his fights were para sa bayan ko.if no prize….i know he cant enter in the ring

MANNY P. HAS NO MORE PALABRA DE HONOR
ANYMORE BECAUSE OF THE PEOPLE THAT SURROUND HIM, THE POLITICIANS. IT WAS THEM WHO CORRUPTED THE MIND OF MANNY P.. THOSE POLITICIANS HAS NO PALABRA AND SO CORRUPT. KAPAL NA ANG MUKHA NILA PATI NA RIN SI MANNY P AY MAGMUKHANG KAPAL NA RIN SOMEDAY.

We worry about his fight; let him worry about his money. The glory he brings to our country should be enough for us.

it’s his personal problem. pera nya yun kya wala tayo pakialam dun. inggit lang kayo kasi mdmi pera c amnny at mka GMA sya kya tinitira nyo sya. hehehe. nkktawa kayo. kikitid utak nyo.

The PacMan’s flipflopping on this financial contracts - Golden Boy to Toprank, Solar/GMA to ABS, then back - and then blaming ABS - point to one thing. He has the makings of a Filipino politician and is practising to become a Congressman!

this is a free country. kahit sino may karapatan tumakbo bilang public official. may karapatan din c manny pacquiao n kumandidato tulad nina lozada, mga church leaders, at iba pa. kung ayaw sa kanila ng tao e mananalo b cla?
dapat pinagtutuunan ntin ng pansin e yun kung papano tyo mkktulong s ating bansa d un puro kaguluhan at pang sariling interest lamang ang iniintindi..
tigilan n natin ang masyadong pamomolitika.

There have been a lot of noise over how Mr. Nievera sung the Lupang Hinirang. This is my comments.
Everybody knew, there is already the R. A. No. 8491. In relation, may I ask if there is provided in it that Php 5,000 penalty will be imposed to one who will depart from singing according to the composer JULIAN FELIPE.
If there is that penalty provision who is that specific agency of the government to impose it.
If there is that agency who is going to impose it, why did it not do its howmework for all those singers who sung earlier on Pacquiao’s bout.
Are we now seeing that there is a double application of the law. Kinuha na ba ang piring sa babaeng may hawak na timbangan.

No doubt Manny Pacquiao can sooner or later win whatever seat he covets in the Philippine electoral arena. But as a congressman Manny is handicapped academically and experiencewise and it would take time to remedy this. He would need a political Freddie Roach before he can be effective in congress for his future constituents.
Pacman’s strengths and assets (finances and connections) are best suited for an executive position. I would rather see a more effective tireless Mayor or Governor Pacqiao constructing another Las Vegas in Gensan or Saranggani than a neutered congressman Pacman.
But for now, Manny Pacqiao should give 1 million or more and help the family of Rustico Torrecampo the only filipino boxer who knocked him down. Torrecampo was sought by the police after killing a man who sideswiped his beefmami vending stall. This gesture will ultimately proclaim Pacman’s magnanimity as the noblest fighter with the biggest heart pound-per-pound.

why we have to turn our back to the people who help us when we are in needs???
its because money right???…..ganyan talaga eh…..nawawala loyalty at palabra de HONOR pag pinag uusapan ay pera….
he have all the oppr2nity to help people pero nakikita pa rin na my selfish motives yung pagtulong nya kasi if you want to help others hindi ka mag iisip na mapublish o ipakita at ipa alam yung pagtulong na yun sa lahat ng tao…
Sa Ating bansa kasi karamihan hindi tumotulong kung di rin lang mailalagay yung pangalan nila sa dyaryo and matawag sa TV na nagdonate ng pera….
gumising nga kayo!!!!!!
we have to help our nation to improve pero kelangan eh sarili muna natin ang una nating linisin….wag naman sana tayong maging makasarili….
di kasi uunlad ang bansa natin kung hindi tau nag babago…
kahit anung gawin nating parally at pag aalsa walang mangyayari…..
patnubayan sana tau ng Maykapal
the final judgement will coming….
we have to accept our sin and belive in HIM

Manny Pacquiao was clearly manipulated into that situation, his kindness to please everyone, give everyone a fair shot, are now coming back and biting him in the a*&,like what you said, “its not even , the contract might not be even chump change, but nothing to him at all…Why are we so quick to find blame or quick to accuse him of flip-flopping, All this man, ever do is to please everyone, if there are to blame in that issue, then it should be ABS/CBN, since they perfectly know, what could have happen if, that contract was breached, they have lawyers that looked up any scenario, but they went ahead with it, hoping that Manny’s camp would not catch the blunder, and solar would just simply ask for a buyout and not protest…Manny is not capable of reading, analyzing every contract, every proposal, that gets presented to him, any many including ABS/CBN,would try to attempt of cashing in, on those weakness, it is ABS/CBN business morals, that should be questioned here , not manny pacquiao’s integrity…Every business establishment knows full well that there is a Moral Protocol, on every contract, ABS/CBN has been in the business ,long enough to know and Not pretend that they dont have any diabolical intentions of grabbing a superstar as big as Manny Pacquiao at all cost…

Pacquaio had given so much pride to our nation, one of very few Filipinos who had done so..
But I would prefer to see him managing a Pacquaio Boxing Center training and shaping new breed of young boxers for our country rather than see him sitting in Philippine Congress as another useless congressman or MP wearing dark glasses inside the session hall blankly staring at the ceiling or just counting lizards.
In case he wins as congressman in 2010 dont want to judge him this way, but he should realised this early that a congress position either from a barangay councilman to senator are lawmaking functions that are elected to enact laws and policies, its not a position just for posturing.
If he cannot really control his appetite for a political position, why not aim to become a mayor first of his town? an executive position doesnt require so much qualifications, then If he proves effective, then run for governor later and then congressman? How can you ever dreamed of driving a ten wheeler truck when you dont even know how to ride a bike?
I supposed those people who keeps on whispering at Pacquiao’s ears should slow down, for the sake of our nation.

Manny pacquiao can become a very good congressman(least evil) the only problem for him is his descision making. He sometimes would like as he always say”everybody is happy”.Not everybody is happy when you make descision since this will affect somebody. He sould learn to make NO’s and Yes’ for what ever is more beneficial. It’s just easy to decide since he knows how to pray and ask God’s help-this is the KEY and he got it.For the other congressmen;gentlemen you shuold be like Manny…Pray for God’s help..
